Hello,

I just joined the list, and thought I would take a moment to
say "hi".

Having only ever watched some of the X-men cartoons several years ago
I thought I wanted to see the movie, but never thought I would get
hooked! I now consider myself an official X-men fan! But, there is
so much more to say and I don't want to wait 'til they make another
movie! So I am now desperatly seeking fic!

I've tried my hand at writing before, but it was too hard to stick
to, and after over a year, my 2 stories remain unfinished. I really
admire those who can write, and particularly those who are willing to
share their work.

I've been sifting through the existing posts, and am truely amazed at
the quality of work I am seeing here. I'm *so* glad I joined the list.

Hope to read from everyone a lot, and can't wait to watch the list
grow!

j
<><

p.s. I tend to be a "lurker" if that word is permitted here. So, this
will probably be one of the very few times I bother you. :-)

The kid had damn well winnowed her small, helpless, cute,
sweet, pathetic, dear, frightened, gentle way into his heart.

That was *not* supposed to happen.

Then again, he'd shoved his way into her heart.

He hadn't intended to.

~Damn it, it was her own fault for coming in and messing with
me while I was sleeping!~ Logan growled to himself, striding
slowly along with Ororo, Jean, and Scott behind their
Professor. He was sure he could find out where Rogue had
gone, and if he couldn't, Logan meant to locate her on his
own.

~She's as good as dogmeat out there by herself,~ Logan
thought, as the computer read Charles' retinas and opened its
locks for him.

"Welcome to Cerebro," Charles said, and continued. Logan's
mind raced, only a fraction of his attention on his surroundings
as he automatically continued walking with the others.
~Why'd she do it? Why'd she come in?~ A flutter of shame
bloomed in his mind. ~Yeah, yeah. I was havin' a nightmare
and she wanted to comfort me 'cause I was fool enough to take
her on the road before these geeks picked us up.~

There was a pregnant pause, and Logan realized Charles
expected him to say something. "Well," Logan growled, half
in amusement, half in annoyance, "it certainly is a big, round
room."

Charles gave him a withering look, and continued nattering.
Another pause, and Logan asked, "So, why can't you use it to
find Magneto?" ~Magneto. What kind of stupid-ass name is
"Magneto"?~ Yeah, sure, the Prof had told him it was a guy
who'd got bitter and had become "Magneto" out of anger and
vengeance.

Charles had said something in return about Magneto being
able to hide from Cerebro. Logan had quizzed the Professor
on how this Magneto could do such a thing.

"Because he helped me build it," Charles said, not without a
note of vague embarrassment and a stronger chord of sorrow
in his voice. "Now if you'll excuse me..."

Logan stepped out, pausing only to watch Charles don the
helmet doohickey which frankly looked like it belonged in a B
movie. Minutes passed, though they seemed like hours, and
each of those intermittent seconds gave Logan one more
chance to reflect on the events that had led to his current
situation.

***

Champagne glasses.

Horror. Green liquid surrounding him.

Pain. Unendurable, agonizing pain.

~Why...won't...I...die?!~

Jean had provided him the answer to that. He healed. At an
inhumanly fast rate. It was his mutation, ~like Jean can read
minds, Storm can mess with weather, and Scott can get on my
last nerve.~

Markings on his skin.

Shiny metal.

More of the pain.

These images flickered, dancing elusively just at the edges of
Logan's thoughts. He only vaguely remembered the dreams,
and it had been one of those that had apparently set him to
moaning in his sleep.

Little Rogue had heard him down the hall and come to see if
she could help. She hadn't touched him. She couldn't. Not
with her mutant power making it too dangerous to touch
anyone. But she'd called his name...tried to gentle him into
wakefulness with her voice.

~Too bad it didn't work,~ Logan thought with a pang of guilt.
Oh, he'd awakened, all right, but in full fight-or-flight mode.
He was sitting up, screaming, and popping his adamantium
claws all in the same instant...

...and the look of horror and pain on Rogue's face was what
brought him snapping painfully to full wakefulness. He'd
pierced her clean through to the back with the damn claws.

"Somebody help! Help me!" He'd called out before even
thinking. Removing the claws would've been disastrous.
Panic was setting in. He was cursing himself for ever having
let this child near him...but if he hadn't, she surely would've
frozen to death in one Canadian night. ~Yeah, great, Logan.
So she doesn't get to fall asleep and freeze slowly -- she gets
to bleed to death instead,~ he recalled thinking.

Logan had no idea, even now, why she'd reached out and
touched him. Maybe at some instinctive level she knew how
her power worked even if she couldn't consciously stop it.
She touched him, and he felt his soul sucked into her
fingertips. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't think. He couldn't
do anything...until she let go.

It had been several moments later when he came back to his
senses. "Is she all right?" were the first words off his lips.

Charles had assured him that she was, and explained to him
what her power did. That it stole life force, and took with it
the gifts of any mutant she touched. In Logan's case, it meant
stealing his healing abilities had saved her life. He felt relief
lighten his heart.

Unfortunately, the rest of the yard apes who lived in Xavier's
school for mutants had seen what Rogue's touch could do...and
the cruelty of teenagers and their quick-buzz rumor mills had
driven her off.

***

"She's at the train station." Charles' words snapped Logan out
of his reverie.

He nodded, and turned to stalk up the hall.

"You can't leave the Mansion. It's just the chance Magneto is
looking for," Charles called after him regretfully.

"It's my fault she's gone." Logan was a man of simplicity and
directness. ~My fault she's gone. I get her back. Let this
Magneto go hang.~

"She'll be all right," Storm said. "She's just upset." She
clasped Logan's shoulder, meaning to comfort him. It didn't
work.

Charles ordered Scott and Ororo to go after her instead.

~Yeah, right,~ Logan thought dubiously. But he made a point
of keeping his mind blank until he was out of Charles
"earshot." He wasn't sure there was a range for it, but he knew
from waking up in the sub-basement that Charles could screw
around with his mind from the full length and distance of the
house: ~Damn bald geek herded me straight into his office
that way, too.~

Charles wheeled past him, confident his two X-Men would
retrieve Rogue.

Logan stalked off, growling.

***

Downstairs, in the garage, Scott and Ororo paused, to select a
vehicle they could take to the train station where Charles had
found Rogue.

Scott frowned at Storm, silent.

"What is it?" Ororo asked him.

"Where's my motorcycle?" Scott asked. He immediately
smacked the heel of his hand against his forehead. "Oh, no.
He didn't take it and go anyway against the Professor's
orders."

Storm raised one brow and murmured softly, "It appears he
has. We had best make haste."

~Professor. He's taken my motorcycle.~

[~I am not especially surprised, Scott. He is not used to
following orders, nor having anyone else he can depend on.
Catch up with him as best you can. Assist him in convincing
Rogue to return here where she'll be safe.~]

~Yes, sir.~

***

~Whichever one of these bozos owns the bike, they've got
decent taste,~ Logan thought to himself, hunched over the
bars. The wind whipped through his hair, and the Mansion
was soon out of view and the open road before him. The
elation vanished, though, beneath the sense of purpose that
reminded him why he was on the road. ~Rogue needs me.~
"Don't worry, kid. I'm comin'."

His fingers found a red toggle switch on the left handlebar; it
wasn't something he recognized, and he *knew* bikes. His
late, lamented, beloved Harley had been tricked up, but it
hadn't had a switch either. ~Laughing gas,~ Logan figured
and thumbed the lever.

The bike roared like a wild thing itself and tripled its speed.
Logan gasped, shouted in astonishment, then burst into a
smile. ~My kinda ride,~ he thought, cheered. ~And it'll get
me to the kid quick.~

***

The girl who only a week ago had been a high school student,
happily planning a future between high school and college,
now sat desolately in a cramped commuter train seat. She had
given no thought at all to where she'd go. She just knew she
had to go.

~If Bobby, who'd been so nice t'me, told me the Professor was
mad an' the other students were all wigged out by mah mutant
power...ah guess ah have t'go.~ Tears threatened again, but
she blinked them back. ~The Professor's school seemed so
nice an' so safe. All those other kids with mutant stuff. The
one who could make fire do what he wanted, and Kitty, who
could walk through walls, and Jubilee with her crazy taste...~
She sighed. ~Ah shoulda known it was too good t'last.~ She
sighed, wishing she could've kept the ice rose Bobby had
made her as a "welcome gift."

She looked around the car to distract herself and spotted a
young mother affectionately stroking the face of her son. ~No
one'll ever be able to touch me like that again. Ah'll never be
able to...~ and she shook her head, turning to stare out the
window.

Rogue looked up and was astonished to see the grizzled face
of the man she knew only as Logan. ~How'd he find me?
What's he doin' here?~

He sat down beside her, uninvited. "Look, I -- I'm sorry about
last night." He wasn't a man accustomed to having to make
apologies for his actions.

"Me too," she murmured.

"You runnin' again?"

"Somebody told me the Professor was mad at me."

"Who?"

"A boy at school." She looked mortified. Ashamed.
Hopeless. And that same fear that had been in her eyes when
he'd found her stowed away in his bike trailer. That same fear
that melted his heart and made him want to wrap her up in a
blanket and protect her.

Logan had no blanket, so all he did was toss an arm around
her, careful to avoid her skin. She resisted at first, then leaned
into him as though he were all that kept her vertical. "Look,
these people...they wanna help you. And that's a rare thing,"
he told her. He wasn't entirely certain he believed it for
himself, but he was grown. He was dangerous, and he was the
best there is at what he does. He wasn't worried about
himself. The helpless girl in his arms was another story,
however. He went on, not really sure of the words he said,
plucking from somewhere in the scrambled morass of his
memory that softening his voice might help calm her. "Come
on," he finally concluded. "I'll take care of you."

Rogue sat up, eyes brightening as she dried her tears.

Logan wanted to brush one away, but he dared not.

"You...you promise?" She began the faintest hint of a smile,
hopeful.

Something in Logan rolled its eyes, but the rest of him
enjoyed the warm feeling that this girl looked up to him.
"Yeah," he told Rogue. "I promise, kid." ~Train's already
movin'. Guess we get off at the next--~

The thought went unfinished as the train lurched to a stop.
The sound of screaming metal filled the air, and Rogue looked
up like a frightened doe scenting a predator.

Logan, on the other hand, smelled ozone. And he felt an
aching tug in his bones. ~Trouble,~ he concluded, and got to
his feet. Around him, the passengers were muttering -- some
simply annoyed, some concerned, and a few panicking like
rabbits. Overhead, the luggage racks groaned and pulled out
of their moorings, plastering themselves to the ceiling.

Then, the back of the car, door, walls, ceiling and all peeled
back like the skin of a grape, and Logan realized the
Professor's warning had been right.

~Magneto.~

He smiled slowly and popped his claws. ~He wants a scrap,
he gets a scrap.~

Magneto looked entirely unimpressed and gestured vaguely
with an elegant hand. "Does that remarkable metal go through
your entire body?"

Logan found himself lifted from the ground and stretched
spread-eagle in the aisle. His adamantium-laced bones
creaked painfully as his claws were bent. He ground his teeth
rather than scream in pain.

"STOP IT!" Rogue shrilled from her seat, crying anew.

"What do you want with me?" Logan demanded.

"Dear boy, whoever said I wanted *you?*" Magneto smirked
in a far-too-superior fashion.

Logan had only a moment to glance at Rogue and will her to
~Run!~ with only his eyes; then Magneto slingshotted him the
full length of the train car, and after a dazzle-blinding moment
of pain on impact that would've shattered a body not
augmented as Logan's was...

..there was nothing...

..except the knowledge that...

~This Magneto has a major ass-kickin' comin' to him...

But first, the kid needs me again...~

And the blackness descended on his consciousness.

Hi
I'm pretty new to the fanfic world. I just recently started writing a Dawsons
Creek (P/J) fic. One chapter so far. Hopefully I'll post it. Loved X-Men
since I can remember. Have any questions regarding the comic book world, I
can more than likely answer them. My favorite characters are Rogue, ArchAngel
and Psylocke. I liked your page tremendously. Nice meeting y'all. Talk to you
soon.

I'm one of the Roswell fic people. :-) Aside from a rare Buffy fic or two,
Roswell is pretty much all I write about. I'm looking forward to trying my hand
at another fandom though. <g>

About the archive: the one tiny drawback to my lovely, lovely
unlimited cheap webspace is that I can't archive erotica. Argh.
However, if any should be written, I'll find SOME way to get it
out to readers -- by request, perhaps. Just thought I should
mention that.

Oh! And that I just archived a Logan/new character piece which
I don't think has hit the list yet...

That was SO original! I know Rogue sometimes got another persons
personality for a moment or two, but I never though about it lasting
for that long... or in the movie. Very good, although I now have
serious doubts as to whether or not my story will be anything that
good.

The day it came out, at the first showing. I plan to see it AT LEAST
one more time in the near future (I wanted to see it again tomorrow,
but my evil friends are insisting on "A Perfect Storm." May Goddess
give me strength... any of you know if it's a good movie or not?

I don't think the villains got nearly as much screen time as they
should have. Much can be done with them, and I guess the students can
be used a bit more. And what was the big idea of giving Jubilee only
a what, three-second cameo!? Grrr...

> 3. Has anyone started work on a movie story yet? (I have. :)

Tee-hee. The wheels in my head were turning as soon as I left the
theater. A little before that even. I just hope no one takes my story
idea before I use it (hint: It isn't a Rogue/Logan romance...
although a lot of the ones coming out look promising).

Hi Keille:

my name's Themis and I'm new to this site. I've been a long time fan of
theXmen especially Wolverine but being Canadian I may be a tad biased! The
movie basically rekindled my interest.

First of all, I checked out your site and must compliment you. It looks
great-simple, easy to find links, clean. Nice web page.

As for your question: I've been reading fanfic for quite a few years
now-Star Trek and expecially XFiles. I've written some Star Trek but have
not put anything on the web.

Look forward to updates to your page. Nice meeting you,
Themis

I can't remember if I introduced myself, but I'm Kate Andrews, List-Mom. I
write in Buffy (B/Riley), Dawson's Creek (Pacey/Joey) and X-Files (a long
time ago/very badly). I write mostly romantic/R/NC-17 stuff. I read the
above, as well as Roswell.

Regarding the novelization...I didn't think it was bad, it just underwhelmed
me. A few of the scenes I liked in the film, like the meeting of Rogue and
Logan, were significantly different. I guess I'm spoiled by good fanfic,
but I wanted it to grab me like the movie did...and it didn't. But I
thought it was pretty cool.

Hmmmm...I don't see very many familiar faces on this list -- neat!
I do like meeting new people! :) Hello, the name's Kielle! I
ran into Kate on another list and she invited me to join this one.
37 members already? Yow! That's fast!

I'm afraid I don't have any moviefic in the works, but I do run a
big fanfic hub at http://www.subreality.com/cfan.htm. I mention
this not to plug my own site but to note that the latest addition
to my collection of Subreality subsites is a brand-new moviefic
archive at

      http://www.subreality.com/movieverse.htm

I love the idea of X-Men fanfic that anyone who watched the movie
can enjoy without having to read backissues, and I'm definitely
hunting for stories to archive there. Just so you folks know...

To stir up conversation, I have to ask: as mentioned, I don't
know many of you (and I know a LOT of comicficcers!), and the
mention of Roswell fic makes me think that perhaps there's some
people here who, until the movie, weren't really into x-Men fic.
Out of sheer curiosity, what kinds of fanfic do y'all usually
write...?

Cheers,

Character Traits
by Kate Andrews

He left two weeks ago and I still find my self watching Jean Grey's
ass. It isn't as bad as those days when he was asleep. I'm not as
bad as I was, and for a while there I was pretty bad. Occasionally,
I still let slip a curse that I don't remember learning but that
seems to make me infinitely cooler in the eyes of the boys around
here. I still itch to smoke a cigar. And sometimes, I have those
dreams that wake me sweaty at night.

But it isn't as bad as before, when I could pour through his
memories, the ones of the last fifteen years. I'm fifteen years old,
but suddenly I could remember late nineties, when I was a toddler. I
knew how to drive a motorcycle. I knew how to kick the asses of any
number of people I met. More, I was itching to fight. That stuff,
all of his older stuff was patchy, fading in and out.

The more recent memories were fresher. Suddenly, I couldn't stand
Scott. And I found myself staring at Dr. Grey _all_ the time. I
remember her scent as she examined me on the way back at the school
that night. The trip from the Statue of Liberty to Westchester took
no time at all.

After they'd stablized Logan, she unbuckled me and sat me up. At
that point, I was still shaking. I don't think I'd said a word since
I had woken up in his arms. I was kneeling next to his body and
gently shaking him when they got up there. My body had felt fine,
humming in fact, but I couldn't hold one thought long enough to form
a coherent sentence, let alone gather the will to stand and walk, so
they'd had to lead me stumbling to the plane. Jean half carried me,
and buckle me in like a child. I listened to them fight to keep him
breathing, and I wanted to help. I couldn't, though. I couldn't do
anything but stare at the celing and try to figure out what thoughts
were mine, which were his, and who I was.

She sat me up and listened to my breathing, to my heart. She leaned
in and put on this visor with a magnifying glass to examine my eyes.
I could smell her breath, but more than that, I could smell her
sweat. Waves of her scent, strong and sharp, washed over me. She
needed a shower. We all did. But that night, I could pick out
everyone's scent easier than their voice or face.

I found myself examining her uniform, tight black leather over a
tight, warm body. My eyes were finally starting to focus again, and
she smiled at me.

"Welcome back."

I gave her a weak smile and leaned back against the seat. My head
was racing, rumbling with his thoughts and emotions. Nothing fully
formed...it's not like I could talk to him or anything, but his mind
was right there, pressed up against mine, curled around me. And
though it felt strange, like wearing shoes on the wrong feet, it
wasn't as scary as before. In a bizzare way, it was comforting. We
hit a little turbulence, and I grabbed Jean's wrist.to steady myself.

"You gave us quite a scare," she said.

"Wouldn't want to do that."

"How do you feel?"

"Like shit." I clapped a hand over my mouth. I never
curse. "Sorry, I mean, I'm a little out of it, but I feel okay." I
looked around the plane. Scott was busy flying, and Ororo was
tending to Logan, bandaging the smaller cuts. "Is he gonna be
okay?" He looked dead. At the sight of his body, his mind fluttered
against mine like a moth, so I closed my eyes. The shock was wearing
off, and I was starting to realize that he might die. That he had
saved my life, and that I might have killed him. Tears welled up,
and tried to focus. Then I felt him, like a warm, scratchy blanket
was being wrapped around me. It was like a hug from the inside. I
laughed a little and forced eyes open. "Is he?" My gaze drifted
back to him.

"Probably." She gently turned my head back to face her. "But don't
think about that right now." She patted my arm, and I squeezed her
wrist, examining the leather sleeve. My senses were still reeling,
jacked up and ten times stronger than normal.. Sounds, smells, and
even the heat from them...all were assaulting me, demanding my
attention. I tried to block it out, staring at her uniform.

"You think I'll get to wear one of these one day?"

I heard Scott chuckle, and fought back the urge to say something
nasty.

"One thing at a time," she said.

"It looks nice." She was really pretty in it, in a comic book
dominatrix sort of way. My gaze shifted down her neck, along her
arm, to her tight waist, then back up. I leaned a little closer and
whispered, "You look good." Smiling, I raised an eyebrow, then
settled back into the seat. Her jaw dropped a little, and I saw
Scott turn slowly to stare at us. I put my hand over my mouth again.

"I'm sorry, I'm just a little...I don't know." I rubbed my
forehead. "I don't know where that came from..." I glanced at Logan
on the floor. I knew exactly where it was coming from. I hoped
everyone else did. Jean sat back a little, but mumbled that that it
was okay as she searched through a medical bag. Scott continued to
stare. "Why don't you keep your eye on the road," I snapped. Then I
bit down on my lip, hard. Oh crap. I tried to push him away, but he
clung like a cat, claws and all. I felt his fear. I don't think
he's had to think about death in a long time. I wished that I could
talk to him, but he was a jumble of images and emotions. An
indefinable slippery presence in my head.

I looked down at Logan's inert body. Ororo knelt next to him, busily
swabbing one of the cuts on his stomach. They'd peeled off his
uniform and he looked very pale, very hairy, and very....well, he
apparently hadn't felt the need to wear anything underneath the
uniform. Somewhere in the back of my head, I thought that this
should be making me blush, or look away or something. I don't see
naked men, like, ever.

I wasn't blushing or looking away though. I wasn't staring either.
I just looked him over and looked back at Jean, who was getting ready
to examine my pupils with some doctor thing. I couldn't tell if it
was shock, or him in my head, or the fact that after the events of
the last two days, but seeing someone half dead and naked on the
floor of a fighter jet wasn't that scary. I bright light flashed,
and I winced away. Jean steadied my head and her scent washed over
me.

"Did we win?" I asked.

"Yeah," she put down the eye thing and smiled at me. "We won." She
patted my knee. "And I think you're okay. We still have some tests
to do once we get back." The jet thumped a little, and everyone got
belted in for the landing. I made a smart remark about Scott's
landing ability when we thumped into the underground hanger, then I
apologized profusely. He shrugged it off as we got out of the plane.

"No, it's not me, it's..."

He put up a hand to stop me. "I know, it's okay. It's actually kind
of funny, and we could use a little humor right now." I felt the
urge to wipe that smirk off his face, but I squished it down.

They went through the business of closing up the hanger. I didn't
know where to go, or whether they still needed me, so I tagged along
behind Jean. I didn't want to leave Logan's side. "You really think
he's going to be okay?" I asked Jean in the elevator.

"Probably." She patted my shoulder and led me to the lab. After
checking on the Professor, Scott headed upstairs to monitor the news
and Ororo left to make sure nothing had happened to the school while
we were gone. After running a few scans on me, she turned her
attention to him. She poked him and prodded him and adjusted a few
of the more makeshift bandages from the plane. She put a tube up his
nose and I got to dubious privledge of learning what a catheter is
and how it's inserted.

"Ouch," I said.

She shot a look at me, and I realized that she'd forgotten I was
there. "You don't need to see this" she said, covering him with a
sheet. I think she was blushing.

"Nothing I haven't seen before," I drawled. Or, rather, he drawled,
I think.

She raised her eyebrows.

"I mean...," I shrugged. "Actually, I haven't seen..." I gestured at
where her hands still rested.

"A catheter?"

"A...uh...naked guy."

She smiled. "Oh."

"If you're feeling alright, you can head off to bed. We can talk in
the morning---"

"No." I said sharply. "No, I want to stay here."

Nodding, she continued examining him and putting little suction cup
monitor thingies on his chest. Pretty soon, he was making a steady
beep on the machine. She fussed with his tubes a little, and
smoothed back this one piece of hair that stuck up like Alfalfa. My
mom always used to do that, fuss with my hair when I was sick. Her
cool hands would feel so nice when I had a fever.

Jean pulled up his sheet, then turned to me. "C'mon. Enough
contributing to the delinqency of minors. There's nothing else to do
right now, he just needs time." She pushed a few buttons on a pager
and hooked it on her belt. "This'll let us know if there's any
change."

We headed to the kitchen, and she fixed me us some sandwiches. After
a few minutes of devouring roast beef and swiss, she looked up at
me.

"What?"

She swallowed, and said slowly, "You're doing remarkably well,
considering." Sitting back, she unzipped her uniform a little and
let down her hair, running her fingers through it. I wondered how
comfortable those things were....and I wondered what she was wearing
underneath it. Then, _someone_ gave me a creative guess as to what
she was wearing underneath it.

My gaze fell to her chest. Without looking up, I said, "Considering
what, babe?" I covered my mouth _again_.

She coughed a little, then giggled.

"I'm so sorry," I said.

"No," she shook, trying not to laugh, but it wasn't working. "No,
it's okay, it's just..." her eyes met mine, and I couldn't help but
laugh too. I guess she was as overtired as I was because we were
absolutely overcome with a fit of giggles, and I didn't stop untill
my sides ached.

"It's not funny," I said, trying to keep a straight face.

"Not at all."

"Nope."

We erupted into laughter again, but fought it down as a sleepy
student shuffled in to grab a midnight snack.

"Hi Rogue, Hi Dr. Grey," Kitty said sleepily. She yawned, and
rummaged through the refrigerator. "What's so funny?"

"Well, um..." I searched for the right words and glanced at Jean for
help.

"You had to be there."

Kitty yawned again, smiled, and put the milk carton back in the
fridge. "Okay." She drank down the glass and clinked it into the
sink. "'Night," she called over her shoulder as she took a shortcut
through the wall between the kitchen and the foyer. "Cool outfit,"
I heard her call from the stairs.

Jean chuckled again, and we finished our sandwiches in silence,
glancing at eachother and giggling occationally like a couple of
girls at a slumber party. As we were putting the dishes away, she
said, "But you are doing pretty well."

I shrugged. "I guess. Everything's still really weird up here."

"I meant about everything else."

Oh. Everything else. In the last two weeks I'd left the only house
I'd ever lived in, hitchhiked hundreds of miles, been nearly killed a
couple times, nearly killed the only person I trusted...twice, found
out I was a freak of nature, found out I'll probably never kiss
anyone as long as I live, nearly been responsible for killing New
York City, flown in a plane for the first time....and done several
other things I couldn't recall at the moment but were, I'm sure,
quite mind blowing. I shrugged again. "I think there sort of comes
a point where you get numb."

"Yeah." Her voice was tired and sad for a moment as she stared off
into space, remembering something. Then she shook her head and
nodded for the door, yawning. "Bedtime?"

"Bedtime." I caught her yawn and started yawing as well. I was
still a little dizzy, and felt my bed calling. We headed up the
stairs and paused at my door.

"The Professor is getting better, and if he wakes up tommorow, there
will probably be a briefing, but if you need to talk...about
anything." She tilted her head and stared at me, examining my face.
All of a sudden I felt a little like a lab specimen. I also felt a
little turned on, which was really starting to bug me out, so sent a
strong wave of disapproval at him, and I swear, I felt laughter
prickling the back of my neck.

"What?" I asked slowly.

"How much of him is in there?"

I rolled my eyes. "You don't want to know, believe me."

"He's quite a..." she paused.

"Character," I said, at the same time as her. We smiled at each
other...but then it hit me, and her too I think. Nobody knew what I
could do to people. What I could do to him. He might never wake up,
or he could wake up tommorow. I remember them discussing it in the
plane. Jean had looked through his mind and found it absolutely
blank.

"He'll be okay."

"I hope so."

"I think he's a good guy," she said

"I know he is." I yawned again and opened the door to my
room. "I'll see you tommorow in Biology."

"You're excused from class. I'll bring you downstairs around 9,
after breakfast."

I was so tired I swayed a little and leaned back against the door
frame. "'kay."

"Night Rogue."

"Night." I started to close the door behind me, then popped my head
back out the hallway. "Oh, and Jean?"

"Yeah?"

"I'll try not to hit on you so much tommorow."

So, has anyone read the novelization? Any thoughts? I was a little
disappointed in it, but it was interesting to see the changes between
it and the finished movie. I wonder how far back they got the script
to work from...

A few questions/thoughts to get the discussion ball rolling....

  1. Have you seen the movie yet?
So far, once on Friday, but I plan to see it again tomorrow depending on
if I get out of work early or not.
  2. Any particularly fic-able scenes/missing scenes/situations that
  stick out in your mind?
I'm going to agree with Elizabeth and say anything Logan/Rogue related,
they were definitely the standouts of the movie for me.
  3. Has anyone started work on a movie story yet? (I have. :) )
Unfortunately, I have no writing talent. While I love to make them up in my
head I truly suck when I try and put them on paper. That's part of the
reason I'm such a fan of fanfiction. It's amazing how many talented writers
there are out on the net. I really look forward to reading all of your
stories<g>.
