Mulder and Scully in Vancouver

--From LaineyGossip, March 5th/2008

Excited???

The new X Files movie has been shooting in Vancouver for weeks, tentatively scheduled for
release later this year.
Set is cloaked in secrecy, as you would expect.

Exclusive thanks to Flynet: first images of Mulder and Scully locked in a tender moment.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have been quiet presences in town, working hard and
dashing to Whistler on their weekends off.

Word is the cast and crew are tight and David and Gillian are getting on better than ever…

WONDERCON 2008---Part 4
(SPOILERS & Minor Spoilers Throughout)

From ComingSoon.net,  Feb 24th/2008
The X Files 2  (Minor SPOILERS)

Frank Spotnitz, Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson

The tag for the day was "It's here!"

Showed trailer for movie. Trailer didn't show much. Overuse of quick cut scenes don't tell you very much. Only saw Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The trailer opens up with line of FBI/Police with dogs and long sticks searching a large "snow covered meadow". Billy Connolly is in front saying, "It's here." Repeatedly. Several quick cuts from other scenes, show other three actors, and it keeps coming back to Connolly's character moving through the meadow saying "It's here." He gets progressively louder and more strident, and finally rushes over to a spot and starts to dig. They find a girl frozen in what looks like a block of ice under the snow.

While everyone was very close-mouthed about any aspects of the new movie, Chris Carter mentioned that Amada Peet's character name was Dakota Whitney and FBI Special Agent. And Mark Snow will be doing the score.

One interesting aspect of the panel was the first row was taken up with a large group of "X Files' groupies that have been trolling for information about the film. They were wearing t-shirts that said "Frankie and Larry," which they found from the movie call sheets were the fake names for Gillian and David. Gillian noticed the shirts when she sat down, saying "How did you know that?!"

Chris Carter has some fun taking photos of the crowds from the panel table.

Gillian mentioned her "Speed of Light" project and that it was very much a work in progress and that it was a "huge burden."

Duchovny mentioned he'd love to write and direct more, like "House of D" – and was just looking for someone foolish enough to give him the money to do it.

The moderator mentioned that everyone had come straight from the set to be at WonderCon and Chris Carter himself said he was operating on 15 minutes sleep in the last 24 hours.

Everyone mentioned that they were working very hard to honor the fans with this film. They didn't seem to sense the ironic nature of the movie information being locked down tighter than any conspiracy Fox and Scully ever uncovered.

Both David and Gillian mentioned that they were surprised how hard it was to get back into character for the movie. The first 48 hours was the worst.

Ed and Chris mentioned that writing this movie was very natural. They felt the time away from the characters helped in writing this film. They mentioned that this film should not be pigeon holed into a monster of the week movie. And that they both felt freer with this movie than the last one because it had to tie into the TV show so closely. (10 years since the last movie, and six years since the last TV show.)

Both Ed and Chris are very cognizant of the looming date 2012. And its affect on the "X Files" mythology. (December 12, 2012 is the end of the work date on the Mayan Calendar, and is mentioned by one of the characters in the last episode as the date for Colonization.)

Gillian spoke about her directing debut with the TV Show, and would love to do more directing work. It was thrilling / scary and a great challenge.

Favorite episodes:
Chris Carter – Modern Prometheus, Beyond the Sea
Ed – too many favorites because they were all so different
David – Black and White Episode and the Episode with Charles Nelson Reilly
Gillian – Bad Blood

There was a mention by Gillian that she saved her job in "Beyond the Sea." Chris Carter immediately discounted that.

There was a cryptic mention when asked about who else is in the film, that no characters ever truly die in "X Files."

There was some discussion about the first episode of the Lone Gun Man and how it paralleled Sept 11th. Ed was concerned they had given the idea to the terrorists and was relieve that the plot had been in planning for years.

When asked to compare "X Files" to the current crop of crime dramas, Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz mentioned they that they think "X Files" stands up better. They believe the "X Files" shows are better written. The battle between Fox and Dana's viewpoints were critical to the show's success. The show plots were driven by gut feelings and instincts being borne out by the science – versus the science driving the plot.

Lastly – Chris Carter mentioned that he saw the show as a search for God. And that the poster on Mulder's wall in his office "I want to believe" said everything about the show.

Another Blogger Report:  WonderCon--I Want to Believe

"The second X-Files film is finally being made -- principal photography is still ongoing -- and I was surprised at all the hoopla in the audience when Chris Carter came out, along with Frank Spotnitz. But the crowd really hit the roof when Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny came on out as well. They weren't advertised online in the programming notes, but I see (hours later) that they're mentioned in the WonderCon program. It was a joy to see them again. They were a part of my life, of a lot of our lives, for many years. As Chris Carter said, the T.V. show was all about that poster that Mulder had in his office, the one of the flying saucer: I Want to Believe. It was his search for God. I get that, but I think it was also the relationship between the scientist and the believer, between two people who couldn't be more different. When it was clicking, there was nothing better.

The clip from the new X-Files movie was a bit confusing - ha! That's no surprise. But it was visually arresting. Both stars said they came onto the set the first day, thinking they knew how to do this, be their characters, and both were stumped, looking for it. It looked to me that the two get along much better than ever before. They've matured. They're servicing the material.

I had a chance to see Gillian at a Creation convention many years ago, and always kicked myself for missing it. She said she wanted to see what it was like. She never came back, so I guess that tells you something. So it was a great thrill to see them both on stage, and see them let their hair down. Gillian gave as good as David gave, which at one time may not have been true. And Chris said, as his stars concurred, that seeing the enthusiasm for their project confirms that people haven't forgotten."

WONDERCon 2008 (minor spoilers) ----Part Two
(with XFiles panel: David, Gillian, Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz)

More Photos (I *think* these were taken by Maru)

More Photos from katedating:

http://katedating.blogspot.com/2008/02/better-than-sex-2.html

From Newsarama, Feb 23rd/2008 (minor SPOILERS)

"It's here!"

The teaser trailer from the forthcoming X-Files movie, that is.

Fans at WonderCon were treated to the edgy clip Saturday afternoon which included scenes of dozens of FBI agents walking a line in the snow, poking the ground in search of something, led by the wild-haired Scottish comedian Billy Connolly (is there any other kind of Billy Connolly?). The trailer also includes glimpses of Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) running, looking serious and pensive, leading to a crescendo with Connolly's character screaming "It's here!" and a glimpse of something vaguely human beneath the ice.

The riotous applause was a warm welcome for X-Files TV show and film director Frank Spotnitz, series creator Chris Carter and the stars Anderson and Duchovny who had flown down from the shoot in Canada to San Francisco earlier this morning to appear on the panel at the convention. According to Carter, he had only had 15 minutes of sleep in the last 24 hours.

Looking a little weary and disoriented, the quartet were at first slow to warm to the conventioneers' big welcome, but the four soon got into an easy, if sometimes laconic rapport with each other and the audience. When asked what to expect from the new film, Chris Carter didn't mince words: "It will scare the pants off you," he said. "You will get to see Scully and Mulder together in a whole new way."

When asked what it was like to resume their roles, both Anderson and Duchovny admitted it was a lot more difficult than they expected.

"I had a really bad first couple of days," Anderson said with a resigned laugh. "I thought it would be easy. I came to work very confident, but I just sucked, I sucked for a good 48 hours."

"Maybe you should tell them what scenes you sucked at?" Duchovny suggested, in a way that seemed to hint at the off-screen tension that allegedly existed between the two actors during the show's halcyon days. After the laughter subsided, Duchovny was quick to agree with his co-star.

"I feel the same way, I was woefully unprepared," he said "It was odd because time has passed for these two people. We want to honor the changes but remain true to these two people. I think it's harder to do a role that you haven't done in a long time [because] you have an entire history and visual images [to pull from]."

When asked if it was difficult to write the script for the new film, Chris Carter said that "it was like no time passed at all. Writing the names Mulder and Scully – that I had not written in more than six years – was like the most natural thing."

Carter also said that he believed the X-Files was always about the search for God. "As far as a particular religion, there was no particular religion."

Referring to one of the show's iconic props, the "I want to believe" poster, Carter said "I think that poster on Mulder's wall says it all."

When asked what the most difficult scenes for the film were, both Duchovny and Anderson agreed that it was the scenes that they play together. "Only because we want them to work so well," Duchovny said.

While Carter and the crew refrained from giving too much away about the movie, he did say that actress Amanda Peet plays an FBI agent named Dakota Whitney and Billy Connolly "plays a man with very long hair."

Carter did hint that someone from the rich cast of characters of the show would make an appearance in the movie. When asked if Mulder's foil Alex Krycek would appear – last seen taking a bullet between the eyes on the show – Carter grew cryptic: "We're keeping a secret," said the show's creator. "Nobody's ever really dead on the X-Files."

From I09: (Minor SPOILERS)

We just got treated to a very brief clip from the new X-Files movie trailer, featuring a group of mysterious FBI types marching across the icy antarctic snows, with Ringo from the Lone Gunman in the lead, crying out, "We've found it!"

Cut to lightning fast clips of a body being dragged over ice, Scully looking hotter than hell, Mulder looking not so bad himself, and lots of zoomy blurred stuff.

No shots of Exhibit or Billy Connely, though Chris Carter did confirm for the millionth time that they would be in the film along with Amanda Peet as a federal agent.

No word about that giant werewolf we keep hearing about. But director Chris Carter, writer Frank Spotnitz, and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were in attendance.
Here's what they had to say about X-Files and 9/11, as well as what it's been like to return to the story after all these years.

Carter kicked things off by saying the film was worth the wait,"Because it will scare the pants off you. You'll see Mulder and Scully again in a whole new way."

Suddenly a bunch of adolescent girls behind us started yelling at Duchovny, "Can you give us your pants?"
Sadly he did not oblige.  ;-) LOL! :-D

A fan asked about the X-Files and 9/11 controversy. (For those who don't know, the pilot episode of X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen is about a plot to crash a hijacked plane into the WTC.) Carter passed the question to Spotnitz, who said:

"We were really upset, and worried that somehow we had inspired the plot. But we were relieved to discover that the plot pre-dated The Lone Gunmen, and that 9/11 had nothing to do with our work. And then once we realized that, my next thought was how the government hadn't known about this plot. There have been a lot of conspiracy theories about the connection between 9/11 and The Lone Gunman, but none of them are true."

Explaining the end of the X-Files series, Carter said:

"There was lots more we could have done but we ended at the right time. Things had changed after 9/11... and now the mood is right once more.
He added that the movie is standalone, though it incorporates elements of the mythology (including the 2012 apocalypse date)."

Anderson said it was hard to get back into character. "I had a really bad couple of days. I thought it would be really easy to step into it and I actually sucked for 48 hours."

Carter said, "I've always thought the series was a search for God."

Anderson said:

"One of my favorite episodes is Bad Blood. Probably because it's one of the only episodes I remember. It was each of our ideas of what took place in an event, and we both got to play the other person's perception of ourselves. So I was moody and bitchy and David was going on and on and on [with the talking]."

Carter's favorite episodes are "Postmodern Prometheus" and "Beyond the Sea" .

XF2 Teaser Trailer posted by StaticSplitScreen (taken down by FOX) and reposted again here:

From Agent Extremis:

I'm gonna do my best to describe the Trailer if I can get my hands to stop shaking enough  ;-)

--First we see a fairly close shot of Billy Connolly(Father Joe?) outside in the daytime looking down at something....

---The Screen widens to a large snowy field with FBI agents spread out behind Billy

-- Then we hear Amanda Peet/Agent in Charge Whitney yell out: "Give Him Room!" And then we see her in her FBI Gear walking with the bunch of Agents as she turns around and repeats: "Give Him Room!"

--Cut back to Billy who says: "it's here...."

--Then another scene with the FBI agents as a helicopter flies in
the background.

--Billy shouts out: "It's here!" "

--Then a shot of a person (in a nightgown or a dress??) being dragged over the ground/thru some water/snow

--Then we see the back of Scully's head, with another person standing
across from her. Scully turns around and looks at this person with a look of fear on her face!

--Another wide screen shot of the snowy field , with a line of horses and
riders behind a fence. The FBI agents are approaching them.

--Then a shot inside of a helcopter flying over the field, as someone inside it points down to an area on the field

--Another shot of the snowy field full of agents, with Billy still in the lead.
(also someone has a dog tracking too)

--Close up of Billy.

--Then a shot of something I can't tell what it is??
(Possibly someone/something lying on a hospital table?)

--Then a shot of a dark-haired man (possibly Bad guy) along with two people wearing doctor's scrub uniforms and masks.

--Next someone in dark clothing is dragging what looks to be someone inside a black body bag.
(or something else pretty huge in a large black bag)

--Then we see Billy approach something, surrounded on all sides by
the agents, he appears to bend down towards what he's found.

--Mulder is inside a car which gets broadsided by another vehicle!

--Back to Billy and the agents, where Billy falls down to his knees in
the snow, looking defeated/overwrought.

--Then a full shot of the snowy field with the agents

--Then we see Mulder in a different scene, he's standing up.

--Then what appears to be Mulder and another person ( possibly Whitney) come running like mad into a building towards Scully and other Agents who have flashlights, and they are looking across at something, while shining their lights in that direction.

--Cut to a scene which looks to be a very ill Billy being helped by
Scully.

--Then a quick shot of a scary looking guy in black.

--Then two people come running towards the screen.
(Mulder & Scully??)

--Then a hand is over someone's own face....another scary looking
dude!

--Then what looks like Mulder standing in front of a heavy snowfall/sleet, and it appears he is falling to his knees.

--Then a close up of Billy, and his eyes look like they're bleeding!

--Then a dark night shot, snowy & bare ground, a couple of red flares, and what looks to be Scully with her hair pulled back is approaching.

--Then back to the daylight snowy field... Billy is with an FBI Agent and
they appear to be digging together.

--Then a dark (interior?) shot of what looks like Xantha Radley's character screaming and lunging towards something/away from something.

--Then a shot of Mulder in the daytime, snowy background, he is looking around.

--Then we see Callum Keith Rennie's character's head, submersing himself in water.

--Then Whitney's face is seen as she appears to find something where they were looking in the snowy field, and she jumps back.

--Then the screen goes black, and July 25th/2008 appears in
white lettering.

(And everyone Screams their heads off!!   8-) )

The X-Files Return

For my money, the big film news out of WonderCon Saturday was the report that the Coen Brothers' follow-up to No Country For Old Men -- the favorite to win Oscar Sunday -- will be Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policemen's Union.

But the event that drew a crowd easily topping 5,000 to Hall A at the Moscone Center was the appearance of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to promote The X-Files 2, which will hit theaters on July 25.

Six years after the first movie and 10 years after the television series wrapped up, Duchovny and Anderson flew into San Francisco Saturday with writer/director Chris Carter and writer/producer Frank Spotnitz. Responding to a curious opening question from the 20th Century Fox moderator as to why the film was worth the wait, Carter said, "Because it will scare the pants off you. Because you'll get to see Muldur and Scully again in a whole new way. That's why."

Both Anderson and Duchovny -- who were filming in Vancouver as late as Friday night -- admitted they had a tough time regaining their balance in their famous roles as FBI agents investigating the paranormal. "I thought it would be easy to step back into it," Anderson said, admitting she was much too cavalier when she arrived on set. "But I just sucked. I sucked for 48 hours."

"It was odd," Duchovny added. "Time has passed for these two people and we wanted to honor the changes they've gone through as well as what keeps them the same people."

Part of her problem, Anderson said, is that she has always had an intuitive grasp of Scully's character, but that since the TV series ended in May 2002, she has purposefully sought acting jobs that won't remind viewers of the character. Thus, when she got on set, Anderson said, "My brain kept saying, 'Stop, stop, you're sounding like Scully.' That's something I didn't anticipate."

The X-Files 2 will also star Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly.

Carter and Spotnitz were also asked about The Lone Gunmen, the X-Files spin-off that premiered on March 4, 2001 and featured a terrorist plot to fly a hijacked airplane into the World Trade Center. "I was disturbed," Spotnitz said, "that if we could imagine it that our government ... didn't."

Carter later talked about imagination and horror in the post-9-11 world: "I can't think of anything off-hand that we didn't do that we wanted to do (in the series). We ended X-Files at the right time. There was a big change in the country after 9-11. I hope it's coming back at the right time. I hope the mood is right."

And when he asked about the recurring spiritual themes in the series, Carter noted, "I always thought of X-Files as a search for God. That's a big part of the inspiration. I want to believe the poster on Muldur and Scully's wall really says it all."

You do remember the poster, don't you?

To warm the crowd up for Duchovny and Anderson, 20th Century Fox also brought out Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and James Kyson Lee ("Heroes"), the stars of the upcoming horror/thriller Shutter, which is due out in March (click here for the trailer). Taylor and Joshua Jackson are newlyweds vacationing in Japan who stumble into the realm of "spirit photography," in which images of the dead are caught on film.

Transcript of the above Gilly interview by Agent Extremis:
(SPOILERS in this!!)

Gillian's is Interviewed by IESB Guy:

IESB: "Nice to meet you"

Gilly replies happily: "Nice to meet you too..." then she points away from him and laughs and says" You're wandering down the line..."

IESB: "We're all over the place...umm, so when you're doing a film like this, how hard is it to get back into character??"

Gilly: "Ummmm....I mean this is the first time that I ahhh..had this eXperience and it was a bit ahhh... harder than I had anticipated...ummmm.... I expected that getting back into Scully was just gonna be....you know...like flipping on a lightswitch and it was actually...ah... took a lot more effort on my behalf" (then she chuckles) "...so... but I think we got there in the end ."

IESB: "Now the series ended in kinda a complicated place..is the movie picking right up from there?? Are you still a mother??"

Gilly: "ummmmmm.....the movie is picking up from...ummm, the time that has passed since the end of the series...so it's real time, so we're..whatever it is...5 or so years beyond the end of the series so that's
where we are. And ummmmm...I can't answer that question" (she says the last part with smile and a laugh)

IESB: "Ummm, we've seen photos on the internet of a Werewolf.."

Gilly interjects: "Oh have you....."

IESB: "..any comment on that?"

Gilly says with a smile: "No....I've got no comment on that... ummmm...what-do-ya-mean there's....Hey David??..Did you know that there's something on..online about a Werewolf??"

David walks into the picture behind her, she smiles and looks at him.

David answers: "A what??"

Gilly: "A Werewolf" (she says it a bit mischievously)

David with a fake shock: "Uh!" and then something like "where's Chris.. or There's/Get Chris"

Gilly: "Ummmm....."

David jokes: "It's all screwed up now."

Gilly laughs as she looks at David and then she says: "Ummmm".

Then David feigns more shock and says quietly: "Sh*t!"  as he smiles back at Gilly, then she laughs again and says: "ummmm.....no, I can't talk about that either."

(David is walking back and forth behind her, then looks like he says: "'No" and then says something jokingly in her ear--like he's saying "A WereWolf" in a goofy way like "A WoofWoof"   LOL! ....then he goes to leave)

An official looking lady from WonderCon (??) then interjects and says to the IESB guy: "We're done, thank you for coming to WonderCon."

IESB: "Ok, thank you very much"

(Then the WonderCon lady manuevers DD and Gilly over a bit and says to them: "Ok, one photo for ComicCon" )

Transcript of Frank Spotnitz's Interview by Mighty Dana:
(SPOILERS in this!!)

GUY: Nice to meet u..

FS: Nice to meet u..

GUY: So..this film as of yet untitled…last one called Fight The Future…is there going to be a title for this one?

FS: yes…we actually have a title…we haven’t given the go ahead to release it…
GUY: You can tell us…..

FS: I wish I could *laughs*…shortly I think…

GUY: We’ve been seeing pictures on the internet of a werewolf…there is even rumours that that’s to mislead people completely…

FS: Well, I’m sort of delighted by what I see is going on on the internet…cause there’s shreds of truth and shreds mistruth..and a lot of speculation and you really don’t know what to believe…which suit us just fine, cause we like to reserve the element of surprise and people go and enjoy the movie and not watch by ticking of all the rumours they heard on the internet…so if you are a fan of the show and you are checking out the rumours on the internet I say don’t believe anything because there is much of misinformation as there is good information…

GUY: Is this a beginning of a series of films for the X-Files?

FS: I would like to think it is…it’s a great idea for a movie…I always felt that..early early on the show I felt that…it’s a natural, cause the show itself is a mini-movie every week and it’s gonna depend how this movie does…honestly….and whether the audience is there for it….

GUY: The series ended kind of on a strange place…for fans, sorta casual fans..how the movie is going to deal with the continuity…or is it just going to go back to Mulder and Scully and the FBI?

FS: I think the movie is very true to the continuity of the series…it’s not an alien conspiracy movie…it’s more stand-alone, scary story…(something that I don’t get what FS says…).it’s a luxury of this movie that it can be about the characters…in a way that the series couldn’t..we had so much we had to do…we had 24 hours of television every year..we couldn’t dwell into to their personal lives has much as we have been able with this film…

GUY: Thank you very much for talking to us…

FS: Thank you….

Comment from Moriarty of aintitcoolnews about new XF2 trailer  :-)

"My first reaction? Looks like a lot of fun.

My second reaction? I’m honestly more thrilled by the sight of Mulder
and Scully together again than I was by the sight of Indy back in action.

Wouldn’t have guessed that before seeing these trailers.

My third reaction? I love the audience at WonderCon screaming.
Fox should leave this version online... that’s what really sells this trailer."

From Quint at aintitcoolnews, Feb 24th/2008

WonderCon: Mulder and Scully show up! Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, too!
And they bring news and footage from X-Files 2!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, technically this was the 20th Century Fox panel, but it might has well have been called the Fox and Scully hour. That’s what people wanted to see.

Poor Thai horror remake SHUTTER, all about spirit photography, was stuck before the big X-FILES 2 panel and even the hot Aussie from TRANSFORMERS and Hiro’s sidekick could make much of a difference. You could feel the audience just politely waiting for that panel to end so the X-FILES panel would start.

This was the first time in the entire run of the convention where the hall seemed to fill up. There were hundreds of people standing on the sides of the hall and an electric buzz going up and down the room as the SHUTTER people left and the few minutes break in-between the two started up.

Then… the trailer.

In a throwback to Howard Hawks’ THE THING (my assumption) a group of FBI agents walk, in a line, on snowy ice. One calls out, “Hold the line, gentlemen! Look left, look right! Hold the line!”

Out in front is a white-haired Billy Connolly muttering to himself, looking very concerned. “It’s here…”

We see dark shoes pushing through the snow and a pan up shows us our first look at Fox Mulder in almost a decade. He looks the same.

A woman (I think it might be Scully, but I didn’t get a clear look at her… she had on one of those fuzzy policewoman’s hats) yells out to the group, “Give him room!”

Connolly slows and then cries out, “It’s here!!!” and the trailer cuts to a woman being dragged across ice at night. Cut to Gillian Anderson turns into frame, red hair flying (getting a loud cheer from the audience). There are helicopters hovering above the ice patch, watching the people below as Connolly races forward to a certain spot.

All this is intercut with sequences from throughout the movie… autopsy scenes (wouldn’t be X-Files without it, right?), Mulder driving and getting hit on his side of the car, Mulder running, Billy Connolly seeming to convulse, blood coming from his eyes, more running, a pissed off looking bald guy with fresh scratch marks on his face and then the FBI on the ice clearing away a clear spot, all looking down. Then it fades out and JULY 25TH, 2008 fades in.

The people went batshit for it, thousands cheering at once.

I liked the trailer a lot, but I think what I liked about it might turn some other people off. It looked like a classic episode of the series, not entirely filmic, but definitely like I was seeing a preview for next week’s episode of X-FILES.

I also have the same problem with the trailer that I do with the INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL trailer. There’s an iconic nature to Mulder and Scully… the trenchcoats, Scully’s red hair and short figure opposite Mulder’s tall lanky figure… I don’t think either trailer took advantage of the iconic nature of these characters. But that’s a nitpick. The actual footage got me juiced up, so in the end that’s all that matters.

The panel. I got some decent pics of the panel. We had writer Frank Spotnitz, Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. Let’s hit some tidbits!

http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/WCmulderscully1.jpg

- It’s been 10 years… why will the movie be worth the wait? “Because it’ll scare the pants off you,” says Carter. “Because you’ll get to see Mulder and Scully again in a whole new way.” The whole place cheers again. “That’s why.”

- More X-FILES movies? Chris Carter: “Right away.”

- Gillian had a bad first couple of days at the beginning of the movie. She thought it was going to be easy to step back into the role, but she said she just sucked for the first 48 hours. She said it was only two scenes and she hopes that it’ll all kind of dissolve into the rest of the movie. Duchovny added, “Maybe you should tell them which scenes you sucked in.” Throughout the whole panel their back and forth was pure Mulder and Scully… he was light-hearted and there was a kind of flirt to it. It was pretty sweet.

- Getting back to it. Gillian had trouble (she had trained herself not to act like Scully in other performances for nearly 10 years and so her brain resisted going back) and so did Duchovny (he said the instinct for any actor is to improvise and roll with a character, but you can’t do that so much with one with such a huge back history already). What about Carter? Surprisingly easy. “Writing the names Mulder and Scully, which I hadn’t written for 6 years, was the most natural keyboard stroke you could imagine.”

- Mark Snow WILL score the film.

- What about the pre-9/11 Lone Gunmen episode about the plane flying into the WTC? Carter: “I’m not going to touch that one.” And hand it off to Frank. “We were just looking for the most awful crime we could imagine.” He also said that he was stricken when it happened, thinking some crackpot had taken inspiration from the show, but was let off the hook when it was revealed that the 9/11 plan had existed long before the show aired.

- Chris Carter: “I always saw THE X-FILES as a search for God.” No particular religion, but Mulder’s poster “I Want To Believe” says it all .

http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/WCBrightCarter.jpg

- They’re still shooting the film… in fact, they flew from shooting all night and stayed awake to come talk to the group.

- Duchovny puts a lot of emotional weight into the Mulder/Scully scenes because he views them as the heart of the movie.

- Amanda Peet plays an FBI special agent named Dakota Whitney and Billy Connolly “plays a man with very long hair.” – Chris Carter

- What subject would you like to have explored in the series. Gillian: “ I always thought that Mulder should… I don’t think we ever did this… but auto-erotic asphyxiation.” “That was the way I was going to die, that was the way Mulder was going to die… Chris?”

- Why not continue the story arc? “When we did the first movie we had an ongoing TV series, so we had to be true to the series and the mythology arc. So, that movie functioned as sort of a big version of the television series. We didn’t have that problem this time. So, we have a chance to do what I would consider to be a really big screen stand-alone movie.”

- Gillian’s favorite episode is BAD BLOOD, which was brought up many times by Duchovny. “She loves Bad Blood… every day it’s ‘Bad Blood-Bad Blood- Bad Blood!’”

http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/WCmulderscully3.jpg

- The sequel was made because Gillian and David wanted to make it. Fox came to Chris and said, “Let’s do a movie.” Then a lawsuit stopped that and then sometime later the studio called up Carter again and said, “It’s either now or never.” He asked the actors and they said, “Let’s do it now.”

- An audience member brings up the end of the show bringing up the date 2012 and if that will carry over into the movie. Gillian laughed and said, “That’s still 4 years away!” Carter was quiet, then said “We’ve talked about it and we want to be true to the series and the mythology, but we wanted to make sure we made the best movies we can and do what feels right, like we’ve always done. Having said that, that 2012 date is looming in our minds.” Cryptic…

http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/WCmulderscully2.jpg

- Then a dude dressed up as Link asked an awkward question. “What do you like to believe?” Chris Carter asks the guy, “Can I ask you a question? Are you from Sherwood Forrest?” Link laughs and Duchovny said, “I believe in that.” Tons of laughs… but it gets better. He asks, “Who are you dressed as?” “Link.” Cheers and laughs from the audience. Duchovny looks at the dude for a full 5 seconds or so then goes, “Who?” At this point Gillian breaks in and goes, “Is this a fetish?” Laughs and a mumbled something about the internet from Link. Then an awkward silent pause and Gillian asks David, “What do you believe in?” And David says, “I thought we had circumvented that…”

- Will Krycek return? Audience member, “I know he’s lost arms… but is he really dead or will he be back?” Duchovny interjects, “He’s got that tea bag dipping hand…” then imitates it for a long time. “I can go all day!” Carter: “We are keeping a secret and I think you’ll all appreciate we are… about who all is going to appear in the movie, besides David and Gillian, of course… So, I’ll just say to you… nobody’s really ever dead in The X-Files.”

http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/WCXtrio.jpg

I can’t tell you guys how big the audience was for this. I think you’re going to see all these closeted X-Philes come out and freak everybody out come July. The panel was great, everybody was laid back and funny. They left saying that they feel vindicated with the huge audience and reception. They believed the fans were still out there, now they know they are.

Can’t wait to see Mulder and Scully again!

-Quint

  • The X-Files 2 Panel was a lot of fun. I thought Star Trek fans were nerdy, but female X-File fans are 10 times worse! David Duchovny and Chris Carter making fun of a fan dressed up as Link from Zelda was the funniest thing ever.

WONDERCON: "X-FILES" PANEL
--From ComicBookResources

Posted: February 24, 2008

WonderCon was a buzz Saturday with the star power in attendance at many of its various panels and presentations. "X-Files" fans in particular were treated to a truly unique presentation by 20th Century Fox of the second X-Files movie. Director Chris Carter, Writer Frank Spotnitz and leads Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny all flew in from the still in production set in Vancouver to give fans a look at the upcoming feature film. The packed convention hall was full of rabid hooting and hollering X-Files fans all overjoyed to be in the house for this special Q&A. Before the cast was brought in, Fox treated fans to the first teaser trailer.

The scene is a snow covered field in the middle of nowhere with hundreds of FBI agents with sticks walking and poking into the ground. Rapper turned actor Xibit playing an FBI Agent calls out to the agents telling them to keep the line tight. A white haired man wildly walks in front of the agents looking for something. He keeps saying “It's here. I know it.” The scene changes to images of bleeding eyed men and suspenseful looks at various people and agents scrambling. Then the snow covered field is shown again and we see Fox Mulder and Dana Scully behind the white haired man and they find something or someone encased in snow. More shots of random images are shown and then it cuts to "Coming July 25th 2008."

The crowd cheers wildly as the Director/Writer and cast are all introduced. Anderson and Duchovny were both overwhelmed by how enthusiastic the crowd was to be in their presence. With so many lined up for the Q&A, they opened up the mic immediately to field questions.

The moderator asked -- since it had been six years since the show ended and 10 since the first movie came out -- why this film would be worth the wait. Smiling coyly, Carter answered “It will scare the pants off you.” Carter stated that you will get to see Mulder and Scully again in a whole new way in this film.

The first fan thanked the cast and told them she had been watching "X-Files" since she was 10 and asked if there are any plans for more movies. Carter sarcastically told the fan “right away.”

The next fan asked if it was easy to go right back into their roles. Anderson said that she had a rough start and a bad 48 hours trying to be Scully again. Duchovny told Anderson to tell the fans which scenes sucked. The crowd roared with laughter. Duchovny went on to explain how nice it was to come back, working with all these people again.

Duchovny was then asked if he would be writing or directing anything in the near future. He said he loved directing and writing and if anyone was stupid enough to give him the money, he is all for it.

Anderson was asked if she had to think her way back into the roll or if it was automatic. Anderson said that it was two different things, intuitively it was something she tried to do again, but her brain would automatically tell her to stop trying to play Scully and just be Scully again. Duchovny added “I just say the words.”

The moderator asked Carter and Spotnitz how hard it was to put pen to paper and write these characters again. Spotnitz said he was surprised how he reconnected wit the characters and felt it was missing people he found again and it was a nice surprise. Carter added it was like no time had passed at all. He asked the crowd if they liked the trailer to which the crowd roared with approval. “Just wanted to make sure,” Carter joked.

A fan asked if Mark Snow was going to score the film and how Carter felt about the first episode of the spin-off show "The Lone Gunman" with the airliner and twin towers that eerily foreshadowed the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. Carter said he wasn’t going to touch that one and asked Spotnitz to help answer since he had more to do with that series. Spotnitz said that Mark Snow would score the film. Then he said when he woke up on 9/11 and saw what had happened, he asked himself if his episode maybe inspired the events. He was relieved to find out the plot existed long before his writing and he also didn’t understand if it could be thought up, why our government could foresee it and why they were not prepared. Frank added it’s been the subject of many online conspiracy websites.

The next fan asked about the significance of the religious undertones in the "X-Files" TV series. Carter explained how he always felt the "X-Files" was like a search for the existence of God. “It was a big part of the inspiration, but no one religion was the focus.” He stated that he always felt that Fox Mulder’s poster in his office said it best -- "The Truth Is Out There."

Another fan asked what was the most difficult scene to film in the movie? Anderson answered the movie is not done filming. David added he thought the Scully/Mulder scenes were hard because he tried to put so much weight into them emotionally. Anderson seconded that and added "My first 48 hours."

The next question was about Elizabeth Rosner's "Speed of Light," a book Anderson has optioned and is planning to direct. Anderson told the fan it’s a work in progress and it will get there, she promised.

The moderator then asked Carter about the other actors in the upcoming film, who else aside from Xibit would be in the cast and what brought them to the X-Files? Carter told him that Amanda Peet would be playing an FBI Agent named Dakota Whitney and Billy Connely would be playing a man with very long hair.

The cast was then asked, since the X-Files uses many classic sci-fi/horror trappings like vampires or Prometheus, if there were any personal narratives in the film and if there was something that they might want to try out in this film that was not done on the show. Duchovny said this film seemed to be a bit of Dorian Grey then looked at Chris Carter and added “No, not that way.” Anderson said she thought Mulder should try auto erotic asphyxiation it might be a good thing for Mulder. Carter said he had a list of ideas of things he wanted to do and he felt the show ended at the right time. He feels the country had a shift after 9/11 and now the appetite is right for the movie.

A fan asked if the film would be a self contained “Monster of the Week” or if it would have some of the mythology. Carter said it might have elements of that, but he just wanted to make a great film that would stand the test and just be a great movie.

The next fan told Anderson her favorite episode was one directed by the actress, to which Anderson responded that she was so thrilled and loved directing it and enjoyed it tremendously and she wanted to do it again.

Duchovny and Anderson were asked their favorite episodes and Anderson mentioned "Bad Blood," which found the agents telling their side of the story separately concerning the shooting of a man who was thought to be a vampire. Anderson felt it was an episode that was shot at such a great time that she really loved the premise. Duchovny added "Bad Blood" is the episode Anderson won’t ever stop talking about.

When asked how the new film came about, Carter said it was because Anderson and Duchovny were really interested in coming back to the X-Files. Fox then came back to the group and said it’s now or never.

A fan asked what the new film has to offer in FBI tactics and technology, since other shows like "CSI" use a lot of those elements in their storytelling. David explained how the story telling in the X-Files was more sophisticated because the story telling was about the battle of Scully’s point of view and Mulder's point of view. Duchovny feels you watch "The X-Files" for the drama of solving the case with intellect, not bullets going through pieces of meat.

A fan asked if the character Krycek would be in the film. Carter didn’t want to give away any secrets, but assured the fans no one in the X-Files stays dead.

Finally one cheeky fan asked Anderson and Duchovny what it was like to work with one of the greatest actors of all time -- Homer Simpson. Duchonvy laughed and said they voiced "The Simpsons" episode apart from the cast and then two years later it was aired. “Homer gave me nothing,” joked Duchovny.

>From Quirk, Feb 15th/08

"Ah, another random find. This is the callsheet from Saturday, Jan 26th.
It is from the 'Natatorium' set. The second scene described is the one I saw them film (the EXT part only of course).
The third scene is the one that the extra I know was in.
(Apparently, it is very very hard to say 'boltcutters'...)

Check out the 'NfD' bit - maybe the Newfie thing is for real! What the hell does that mean to the rest of the movie?"
(Or NfD could also mean 'Night for Day')

Check out these photos:

"Hey all you spoiler fiends out there - well I said I might have a couple tricks left up my sleeve and I've managed to finagle just a couple more callsheets from last week to finish up my big two weeks of secret agent work.
Basically, I'm just adding fuel to the speculation fire and, probably,
confusing the matter even more!
YAY! So speculate away...

My biggest question - do you think Brynner = Skinner?

This one is from Wednesday, Feb 7

You can't see the cast listing on this one but check it out on the next one (for 'Brynner')

Sadly, I think this is likely the end of my 'Done One' stalking career.

oh yeah - to all you suspicious minds out there...
Yes, the first callsheet (from Wed) looks different from all the rest but rest assured  that I plucked it off the ground next to the garbage at the 'circus' in Pemby so it's genuine.

Only three of all of the callsheets I found actually came from the garbage.
Think about it - they make A LOT OF THESE CALLSHEETS!
Not every single one is disposed of properly.

I only found ONE sheet in the garbage while they were actually filming in Pemberton and I found it in a garbage in Whistler!

As for the last couple I just posted - they were found where the 'Circus' was set
up in Pemberton.
It was after a big clean up and there was bound to be some random stuff left
about as I'm sure the crew weren't as diligent as they could be seeing as they had tons of stuff to throw out.

And finally, there is soooooooooooo much we don't know about the movie.
If you've managed to work yourself into a frenzy because the sheets are mostly Muldercentric - take a deep breath or two and think about all the missing info. There is a lot of missing info."

Please click here for the pix:

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj41/quirk19/DSCF0546.jpg
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj41/quirk19/DSCF0548.jpg

Observations by Philes regarding this new info:

KeLaBel notes:
"Mitch-A-tent. Pitch-a-tent.

LOL. such sense of humors over there!"

Melville says:
"Yul Brynner -- famous BALD actor!"

thefurryteeth comments:
"Mitch Atent is so goofy, I have to laugh.

On the top of the call sheet, the pick up time from the higher ups like CC (Rich Tracers) also lists an A. Bandini.

Which producer is a fan of writer, John Fante (whose autobiographical main character in many of his novels was a depressing cad
by the name of Arturo Bandini? (No doubt Duchovny would be into Fante.)

It's gotta be Spotnitz."

MulderItsMe noticed:
"hahaha, at the top of the first page under "scene" it says "Okydoky Test"
WTH?! hahaha"

And I figured out this:
Just checked out IMDB and found that Nicki Alcox (2nd Victim ) is an actress who was previously in the 'XFiles' episode 'Rush'.
(she played the character of 'Chastity Raines' )

Here's a photo of her from that eppy: http://xfphotos.fredfarm.com/season7/rush/rush053.jpg

"Hey have y'all missed me? I've been rather busy with real life unfortunately
but here's the scoop from Pemberton.

First unit is done and second unit is in town shooting some day shots and
some FX stuff.

Overheard outside the production office -
"WE NEED A DECAPITATED HEAD!"

Here are some pictures of the Subaru and of 'Frankie's car'.

----With Regards to these Photos,
NYPhile found this info:

"The name (Boxwell) sounded familiar so I did some research.

'After Scully's tests, she is left alone to rest. She notices a VHS videotape in playback mode.
Removing the tape, she sees that the label has another woman's name on it,
Nancy Boxwell
, with the date 11/23/00.'

The name was in Per Manum. Anyway, just thought it was cool info."

(the car was on a tow truck behind the big snow pile)."

"hey here's a link to the random little bit of shooting that I filmed.
It's not very exciting at all - basically the 'second abductor' walks into the pool and then the plow truck drives by.

While you watch the video, picture me standing on the counter of a ramshackle concession/ticket stand thingy hiding behind
the plywood wall sticking out my camera just enough to film the scene without them seeing me!"

From MovieWeb, Feb 11/2008
--Source Gil Brooks:

Gil writes:
"Hey guys, got some X-Files 2 news for you.

Just got off the phone with an old Canuck film buddy of mine.
While discussing the many projects he's been working on lately,
I asked him about The X-Files,
and more specifically, about those werewolf pictures that popped up
on the net a couple of weeks ago.

After chuckling a bit, he said that Chris Carter knows what he's doing, and
that the werewolf did exactly what it was supposed to do--throw people off
the X-Files scent.

Translation?

Those photos that appeared online were nothing more than a hoax by the production!!!

Clever Carter and his misinformation. "

8.  Spoiler From Dark Horizon, Feb 12th/2008:
A source on the set of the currently filming film sequel to "The X-Files" has
sent along this call sheet from last week. Doesn't look like much right?
Well apparently the 'Larry Removes Disguise' comment plays a big part in
the upcoming feature. Also unlike those bogus werewolf mask photos leaked
from the set the other week, this has been confirmed genuine.

A Refresher from Frank & TWO XF2  SPOILERS!

1. Previous Comments by Frank Spotnitz (co-writer of XF2 Movie Script)

From MSNBC, July 16/2007:

The film's story reportedly will avoid the steep (and oftentimes confusing) "alien conspiracy" mythology developed throughout the series' nine-season run and in the first film, and will instead focus on a self-contained threat for Mulder and Scully to contend with.

"No, we're not going into the mythology (in the sequel), " Frank Spotnitz told SCIFI.com in May of last year. "One of the things that was exciting about doing it is to not make it a mythology story, and it's like one of the stand-alone episodes. It's a bit scary. Of course, we will catch up with the characters and what is going on in their lives, but it's not about the alien conspiracy. It's not about that."
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/print.php?id=36201
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19794062/

>From Entertainment Weekly, May 24th/2006:

EW Question: "But no conspiracy stuff, right? "

Frank Spotnitz: "Yeah, I think that was one of the big appeals of doing a movie — to not be constrained by the mythology. Nine years was a long time to stretch out the mythology of the series, and the first movie had to deal with it because it was sandwiched between two seasons of the TV show. It will catch up to the characters where they are now. We'll address whatever period of time has elapsed between the end of the series and the current moment. "

EWy:
"Does that include disclosing the whereabouts of Mulder and Scully's baby?"

Frank Spotnitz:
"Well, the way it was left at the very end was that they had just given up the child and they were fugitives from the FBI, so we'll have to address where they're living and whether they're still in a fugitive state."

2.  Mulder & Scully Video Description
First of all, just in case you were unable to view the new XF2 Movie Clip which has Mulder & Scully in it, here's a brief description:

(SPoiler)

X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X

In the first part of the video, Gillian Anderson undergoes some microphone adjustments before climbing back into a black SUV.
(Gilly gets out of the SUV, bends over, and the sound guy lifts up the back of her beige jacket and appears to fix the mic problem...then she gets back into the SUV......it looks pretty funny :-D )
Oh, and Gilly has long, almost blonde looking hair (blondish red?)
Next, Amanda Peet's character exits the front passenger
side of the vehicle and Xzibit's character exits from the front driver's side.
Mulder exits from behind Xzibit, and Scully exits from behind Peet.
Mulder is sporting a mountain man type of beard ;-) Scully then yells something that sounds like: "Did you find Skinner??" And then someone (Peet?) replies: "I think he's down here.....". Mulder stops walking and lets Scully and Amanda Peet walk slowly in front of him, and then they all walk down a sidewalk.
This is where the video appears to cut to a different scene.
In the second part of the video, Mulder and Scully are walking across some snow-covered ground, with Scully in the lead. Scully is walking fast, Mulder is walking slower behind her. She turns and hands something to Mulder (a bag? a thick paper?) as they continue to walk back from wherever they'd been.
(Neither Scully or Mulder appear to be very happy)

Jan 22nd/2008
 Mike Sampson writes:
"What the...?!?! That just about sums up my reaction to the exclusive pictures we have below from the set of XFiles: Done One. They're what you would consider SPOILERS so proceed with caution if you don't want to know any potential info about the film... Before we get into the pictures themselves, first a little context. I got an e-mail from a long-time reader
who claimed to know the whereabouts of the X-FILES set in Vancouver. "Want me to see if I can poke around and find something?," he asked. Sure, but don't get yourself in trouble I told our man.

I had kinda forgotten about it until today when our intrepid reader checked back in.
"Was able to head to the set. Wore black and brought my camera and strongest zoom lens. Mostly boring photos but I was able to capture these. Not sure exactly what's going on but wow!"

Wow indeed! We'll call our guy "CSM" to protect his identity as we share these exclusive shots with you (and get em QUICK before Fox has 'em yanked!).

For the record, that's director Chris Carter on the right (with the toque on his head) who's just tickled pink with what his FX guys have created for him.
Holy geez it's good to have THE X-FILES back!

Let the speculating on how this fits into the plot begin below!"

***XF Promo Photo: Then and Now***
Did anyone catch that one of the New XF Promo Pix was set up in the same setting as one from Season One of the TV Show??  :-)

"It's been six long years since sci-fi fans had their fix of the X-Files but Mulder and Scully have hardly changed! In fact stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have aged pretty well since the first publicity shots were taken 15 years ago. And marketing bosses at 20th Century Fox are making the most of the then-and-now pictures, staging one new publicity photo in the same office setting where Anderson and Duchovny first posed as their beloved agent characters. Since the stars first played Mulder and Scully back in 1993, they each have had two kids, Anderson has been married twice, and Duchovny wed actress Tea Leoni. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in these stills from the untitled X Files sequel USA - 2008 "

David Duchovny Wins Golden Globe Award! 8-)

David Duchovny, winner for best actor in a TV comedic or musical series ("Californication"), went out to see the Jack Nicholson-Morgan Freeman film "The Bucket List" in Vancouver, where he's filming the "X-Files" film sequel.

"I kinda didn't want to watch. It would just make me tense or nervous," he said. "I knew if my phone was ringing when I walked into my hotel room that I would have won, and it was. Nobody calls a loser."

Duchovny joked that he took a really dressed-down approach.

Asked what he was wearing as he soaked in the news that he was a winner, he quipped: "I was naked in my hotel room. It was my way of protesting any number of issues."

Reyes & Doggett Info:
(courtesy of Cindy Kosc)  Jan 15th/2008

"I ran into Annabeth Gish at "The Business of Being Born" premiere in Los Angeles last night. She confirmed that neither her or Robert Patrick would be appearing in the second X-Files movie.    She did say that Chris told her that if the second movie does well, she'll be in the next one."

Chris Carter talks to TV Guide:
Jan 21 to Jan 27 issue

Apparently, the truth is still out there. Which would explain why The X-Files will be back out there this summer, when the second movie version of the series hits theaters. Plot details are more closely guarded than an alien autopsy, but creator Chris Carter does have a few clues to offer eager X-Files fans who have been waiting for more since the Fox show ended in 2002. FBI Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) will still be at the center of the story, and Studio 60's Amanda Peet and rapper Xzibit have been added to the cast as fellow agents. "This is really a continuation of the series, imagining how the characters' lives have evolved," explains Carter, who cowrote and is directing the movie. "It's a stand-alone story that owes everything to the series, but not the mythology of the series. What we'll be dealing with is government-based as far as the conspiracy goes, but expect this not to be a revisitation [of the show's convoluted conspiracy.]"   That would be alienating.

"Big breakfast, Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants on the tv, sorted. And then Gillian Anderson (aka Scully from the X Files) walked in with her toddler son and husband. Even when she hasn't made much of an effort on a Sunday morning she still looks gorgeous."

XF Location Photo & Info,  Deadman's Island, Vancouver

(Courtesy of gunmetal, spook, & thetruthwebothknow--Hollywood North)

"I've been peering through my binoculars now for a few hours -- you wouldn't believe how much doesn't happen at a set -- and am now almost certain that it's the set of X-Files. Indicators: just two actors, one rather tall man and a short, small woman with red hair that appears to be short though, and I had heard Gillian's hair is long right now, but who knows?

Well, ok, they are currently filming on Deadman's Island, on the grounds of HMCS Discovery. This could be reached from Stanley Park, but you might have a better view from Cardero Park, which is just off the Westin Bayshore. There's a helicopter involved and it looks like they still might stay a while, at least until the end of the day. (One never knows, though, since they break up sets in record braking times.)

Q&A with Chris Carter,
Jan 9th/2008

Q: Mr. Carter, what excited you most about filming again?
How have you found filming here (in Vancouver) again?

Chris: Vancouver was one of the things that made me most excited about making this movie. I have a home up here and many friends, and I¢ve come to consider it my home away from home. I spent a lot of time over the last five years coming back to, not just Vancouver, but other parts of Canada, so it was nice to come back and get paid for it for a change.

Q: I noticed that Vancouver crew alumni such as David Gauthier, Shirley Inget as well as Mark S. Freeborn are involved in the production. Bill Roe was part of the Los Angeles crew. Is this production a good mix between the original Vancouver crew and the Los Angeles crew?
Were many from the Vancouver production invited to work on this feature?

Chris: It was really hard coming back knowing that I could only hire one person for each position. You hope to come back and have a class reunion, but we worked so many years up here and employed so many really talented people in all departments and fields that we had more talent than positions. That¢s both a blessing and a curse, as Frank Black would say. You hope that feelings don¢t get hurt, and that everyone knows and understands that there¢s more work to come.

Q: Vancouver and the surrounding area(s) have changed so much; was that noticeable when it came to locations?

Chris: Yes, luckily. We used some of that new construction to our benefit.

Q: Will the length of the movie be over or under two hours?

Chris: If it¢s over, I¢m fired.

Q: What would be the $64,000 question that you would like to be asked?

Chris: Is it true Mitch Pileggi and I are romantically attached?

Please remember to mark the date on your calendar for July 25, 2008!

Here's an excerpt from the article by Mike Sampson:

"Just a few minutes ago I got an early morning treat from Fox. No it wasn't a plate of french toast with hash browns and bacon on the side (though that would be nice), it was the first official pictures from X-Files DONE ONE!  Isn't it good to have Mulder and Scully back in your life again? I know for me it doesn't look like either one of them has missed a beat (especially Scully still looking hot after all these years!). USA Today also runs a feature today that confirms that this movie is standalone and won't contain any of the mythology that the series was steeped in. Maybe this just appeals to my fanboy nostalgia but I can't wait to see this one, even if the last seasons of the show left an awful taste in my mouth. Check out the pics below and get ready for the next X-FILES film in July!"

Exerpt from the article:
Carter believes the fans will be drawn (to the new Movie) by something else: the show's stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

"For me, The X-Files has always been a romance," he says. "They had an intellectual romance that's very rare and restrained compared to so many relationships on TV. I think that's what appealed most to the fans. And they're back."

"Here's Mulder and Scully's house everybody. This is supposed to be Mulder&Scully's house I think.
“They want to turn the road into a riverbed and stage a car crash that comes over the edge and lands in the riverbank. They need enough snow to make it look natural,” said Sheena Fraser, Village of Pemberton deputy clerk.
(so it's assumed that M&S are living there together when this car comes crashing through
their home)

So far all that's been said is that it is a stand-alone, post 'The
Truth' (in current time) and GA has said that M&S just sort of stumble
onto the case (not a direct quote). As far as what kind of case: who
knows... They've never done Big Foot...

PS. There's a really cool site keeping track of everything x-files2
