***X-Files held a Press Conference Yesterday, March 12th/2008 at the
Sutton Hotel in Vancouver BC (Minor Spoilers throughout)****
Transcript of CTV-BC News, March 12th/2008
(courtesy of Agent Extremis)
Reporter Coleen Christie in studio:
"The Truth is Out there, and in July, it will be in Theatres. I'm of
course talking about
the new XFiles Movie, shot right here in Vancouver."
Cut to David Duchovny.
He's wearing a dark blue shirt, his hair's a bit disheveled, and he's
sporting a bit of a 5 o' clock shadow.
He's sitting in a chair in front of a mirror, clasping a microphone
with both hands.
"It is a home-away-from-home for me, no matter what you all wanna say
about it." Duchovny jokes
good-naturedly with a smile.
Coleen interupts with:
"Ah the difference a decade can make. Today, star David Duchovny and
creator Chris Carter were on hand, in their words, to
express thanks to the City of Vancouver. The new Movie was filmed on
the lower mainland, like the first 5 years of the Television
series. When the show relocated to Los Angeles, Duchovny shouldered
the blame. He'd said he wanted to live where his wife, Tea Leoni, was
shooting a series, and he had once joked about hating the rain in
Vancouver on the Conan O'Brien Show."
(Cut to old XFiles TV Series scenes--Scully and Mulder walking around
the morgue, Scully and Mulder in their office)
(The whole time Coleen is speaking the above words, we see the Press
Conference. Shots of Chris, David and Frank sitting beside each other
in chairs in front of a beige striped wall, a mirror behind David.
Chris and Frank are dressed all in black, David has tan pants to go
along with his dark blue shirt. David & Chris have sneakers on,
Frank is sporting boots. Chris has his legs stretched out in front of
him, Frank has his arms crossed and his legs crossed, and David has one
leg up and over the other, with his foot resting on the opposite knee.
Then they cut to a monitor playing the XF2 Teaser.....a widescreen shot
of the agents searching the snowy daylight field with the helicopter
flying by, Agents and dogs are then seen closer up, the agents have
long poles that they are inserting into the snow.. then a shot of Agent
XZibit yelling something that sounds like: "Hold on... Look right Look
right" --hard to tell what he's saying because Coleen is talking over
this part. )
Cut back to David sitting in his chair with
the mic.
"So I went out there and he said (Conan), Oh so you wanna move the show
to L.A., what's wrong with Vancouver?
And I said, oh it rains all the time, it's just impossible to work
there, it rains too much..they cut to the audience and
there's a Bear..crying......to me a Bear crying is funny."
Coleen chuckles happily and says:
"Duchovny says the reaction was really a tempest in a teapot, he has
nothing but praise for Vancouver."
(We see Larry the big black curly poodle-type dog, walking by and
sniffing one of the camera men filming the Press
Conference ;-) :-D Then
a shot of a younger DD teasing and waving to the camera.)
Cut back to David:
"I always have a...fondness for..the sheer physical beauty of the city,
first of all..., um and....a lot of people...a lot of friends that I met
the 5 years that I was up here."
Coleen:
"The new XFiles Movie doesn't have a Title yet, but it will be released
July 25th."
*****
Coleen continues on with another segment.
"And ETalk's Lainey joins us now. I love David Duchony, I have to say
that."
Lainey:
"I like him too, and his new show Californication is amazing. And um,
everybody, is you know, wondering
what that plot is gonna be, it's one of the best kept secrets in
Hollywood...so right here in Vancouver, but there
were some new shots from the set of that Movie of a..Scully and Mulder
kissing....so...."
Coleen:
"Cool!"
Lainey continues:
"...maybe they'll be something romantical."
Coleen:
"Love it Love it!"

WONDERCON 2008---Part 4
(SPOILERS & Minor Spoilers Throughout) From ComingSoon.net, Feb 24th/2008
The X Files 2 (Minor SPOILERS)
Frank Spotnitz, Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson
The tag for the day was "It's here!"
Showed trailer for movie. Trailer didn't show much. Overuse of quick
cut scenes don't tell you very much. Only saw Amanda Peet, Billy
Connolly, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The trailer opens up
with line of FBI/Police with dogs and long sticks searching a large
"snow covered meadow". Billy Connolly is in front saying, "It's here."
Repeatedly. Several quick cuts from other scenes, show other three
actors, and it keeps coming back to Connolly's character moving through
the meadow saying "It's here." He gets progressively louder and more
strident, and finally rushes over to a spot and starts to dig. They
find a girl frozen in what looks like a block of ice under the snow.
While everyone was very close-mouthed about any aspects of the new
movie, Chris Carter mentioned that Amada Peet's character name was
Dakota Whitney and FBI Special Agent. And Mark Snow will be doing the
score.
One interesting aspect of the panel was the first row was taken up with
a large group of "X Files' groupies that have been trolling for
information about the film. They were wearing t-shirts that said
"Frankie and Larry," which they found from the movie call sheets were
the fake names for Gillian and David. Gillian noticed the shirts when
she sat down, saying "How did you know that?!"
Chris Carter has some fun taking photos of the crowds from the panel
table.
Gillian mentioned her "Speed of Light" project and that it was very
much a work in progress and that it was a "huge burden."
Duchovny mentioned he'd love to write and direct more, like "House of
D" and was just looking for someone foolish enough to give him the
money to do it.
The moderator mentioned that everyone had come straight from the set to
be at WonderCon and Chris Carter himself said he was operating on 15
minutes sleep in the last 24 hours.
Everyone mentioned that they were working very hard to honor the fans
with this film. They didn't seem to sense the ironic nature of the
movie information being locked down tighter than any conspiracy Fox and
Scully ever uncovered.
Both David and Gillian mentioned that they were surprised how hard it
was to get back into character for the movie. The first 48 hours was
the worst.
Ed and Chris mentioned that writing this movie was very natural. They
felt the time away from the characters helped in writing this film.
They mentioned that this film should not be pigeon holed into a monster
of the week movie. And that they both felt freer with this movie than
the last one because it had to tie into the TV show so closely. (10
years since the last movie, and six years since the last TV show.)
Both Ed and Chris are very cognizant of the looming date 2012. And its
affect on the "X Files" mythology. (December 12, 2012 is the end of the
work date on the Mayan Calendar, and is mentioned by one of the
characters in the last episode as the date for Colonization.)
Gillian spoke about her directing debut with the TV Show, and would
love to do more directing work. It was thrilling / scary and a great
challenge.
Favorite episodes:
Chris Carter Modern Prometheus, Beyond the Sea
Ed too many favorites because they were all so different
David Black and White Episode and the Episode with Charles Nelson
Reilly
Gillian Bad Blood
There was a mention by Gillian that she saved her job in "Beyond the
Sea." Chris Carter immediately discounted that.
There was a cryptic mention when asked about who else is in the film,
that no characters ever truly die in "X Files."
There was some discussion about the first episode of the Lone Gun Man
and how it paralleled Sept 11th. Ed was concerned they had given the
idea to the terrorists and was relieve that the plot had been in
planning for years.
When asked to compare "X Files" to the current crop of crime dramas,
Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz mentioned they that they think "X
Files" stands up better. They believe the "X Files" shows are better
written. The battle between Fox and Dana's viewpoints were critical to
the show's success. The show plots were driven by gut feelings and
instincts being borne out by the science versus the science driving
the plot.
Lastly Chris Carter mentioned that he saw the show as a search for
God. And that the poster on Mulder's wall in his office "I want to
believe" said everything about the show.
Another Blogger Report: WonderCon--I
Want to Believe
"The second X-Files film is finally being made -- principal photography
is still ongoing -- and I was surprised at all the hoopla in the
audience when Chris Carter came out, along with Frank Spotnitz. But the
crowd really hit the roof when Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny came
on out as well. They weren't advertised online in the programming
notes, but I see (hours later) that they're mentioned in the WonderCon
program. It was a joy to see them again. They were a part of my life,
of a lot of our lives, for many years. As Chris Carter said, the T.V.
show was all about that poster that Mulder had in his office, the one
of the flying saucer: I Want to Believe. It was his search for God. I
get that, but I think it was also the relationship between the
scientist and the believer, between two people who couldn't be more
different. When it was clicking, there was nothing better.
The clip from the new X-Files movie was a bit confusing - ha! That's no
surprise. But it was visually arresting. Both stars said they came onto
the set the first day, thinking they knew how to do this, be their
characters, and both were stumped, looking for it. It looked to me that
the two get along much better than ever before. They've matured.
They're servicing the material.
I had a chance to see Gillian at a Creation convention many years ago,
and always kicked myself for missing it. She said she wanted to see
what it was like. She never came back, so I guess that tells you
something. So it was a great thrill to see them both on stage, and see
them let their hair down. Gillian gave as good as David gave, which at
one time may not have been true. And Chris said, as his stars
concurred, that seeing the enthusiasm for their project confirms that
people haven't forgotten."
Ffrom ComingSoon.net, a quote about the
Frankie Hearts Larry Shirts
:-)
"One interesting aspect of the panel was the first row was taken up

Another Video of the 'Sucks' part

different angle
(You can see Gilly's reaction in this one
:-D ):
Here's some
different angles/more vids from WonderCon:
New and Previous vids from SaintScully (who I *think* is
'danascullyfbi' )
(love that she did her best to keep the camera on GA&DD for the
majority of the time :-)
)
You can watch the Full
XFiles panel Video on this site, which includes the Introduction of the
XF Stars, the 'Frankie Hearts Larry' bit, and lots of other parts
unseen so far too (It's cool to see the whole thing altogether in one shot )
Re: "Frankie & Larry TShirts**
DD seems to notice the shirts first, and then points them out to
CC and
Gilly 8-)
And the Philes respond to Gilly's question of "How did you know about
Frankie & Larry" by screaming and answering:
"We Have our Ways.....We're Good like that" 8-)
(Gotta Love it! )
