Re: Cable Controlled Mechanical Mask

I HAD a copy of the video in question. The info Bob (and other
members) have posted is pretty much what you'll get from the video. If
you've built complex animatronics armatures in the past, then save
your money and time trying to find this video (unless you want to see
hairstyles from the 80s).

The video is actually for a mask that is controlled by an off camera
cable and lever system (which takes up most of the video to explain).
Preparing molds is another drawn out tutorial. There are a number of
books that can help you in that department.

I guess what I'm saying is - - don't get your hopes up when it come to
this video! I was disappointed when I finally received the tape and
they spent less than 10 minutes on the mouth armatures. The info isn't
even that relevant to how the cable in Chewbacca's mouth should be setup.

What we need on this board is a solid diagram of how the mask should
be constructed. One day when I get some time I will try to post a
detailed drawing... but then again most of us have said that at one
time or another. :)

Ordinary latex rubber masks will not work. They are too rigid. They to be either foam latex or soft, animatronic grade silicone rubber like DragonSkin. There...
