From: "Matt Pfingsten" <gotwookiee@...>

I've just made a HUGE update to the Chewie Costuming Resources page at <http://www.rebellegion.com/chewie>, the first since September. Here is a summary of the updates:

  1. I've added a new section called "Chewie Costuming Primer" which is basically a couple of paragraphs explaining the nature of this particular costume, glossing over some of the challenges, and explaining how to get started. It's basically a list of things I already tell people when they express interest in making a Wookiee suit. Let me know what you guys think.
  2. I've added new links to places like Making Wookiee and some new forum topics on The RPF and Rebel Legion boards. I've removed a few dead links like the link to the German Chewbacca's page which is sadly no longer around. The RPF and Rebel Legion links now point to the new domain names ( therpf.com and rebellegion.org, respectively). I've also added some links to YouTube tutorials that I found on the Making Wookiee site.
  3. New reference images! I've been through the Star Wars science exhibit twice now. I trooped it as Chewie during the opening weekend in Ohio last June and during the closing weekend in Portland, Oregon on January. As some of you know one of the suits from the original trilogy is on display so I studied it for sometime. My own pics aren't up yet, but the pics taken by Darren "Knightshade" Blum when the exhibit was in Boston have been added. I've also added pictures of the old, crusty, unfinished Chewie mask that was sold as part of Gary Kurtz collection. There are new photos in all sections except the bowcaster.
  4. In the Suit section, I have added some notes about how you can see some of the knots on Chewie's arms at the exhibit.
  5. I have added some notes about mechanical arm extensions that I am planning on building to the Hands section.
  6. I have combined the photos of the return of the jedi feet and the ANH/TESB feet. I now believe there was only one set of feet for the original trilogy. I have also added notes where I recommend against custom made stilts and sing the praises of my drywall stilts, which are so easy to walk in that I walked an entire parade without ever watching the ground (except when I was behind the horses).
  7. In September 2005, Tom Twohy posted his info on how he made the moving jaw for Shawn's mask. I've finally added that information. It is under a sub-heading called "Making a Mask with a Mechanical Jaw." The old mask information is under "Making a Static Mask."
  8. Further examination of the bandolier has revealed some differences between the version used in ANH/TESB and the version in ROTJ. Mainly its the tapered ends of the strap. I've split the photos accordingly.
  9. Master Replicas has revealed that will offer a replica bowcaster this year as part of their 2007 product line up. Also, there is a guy selling resin replicas. I have added links to both in this section.
I've also cleaned out some of the crap in the yahoo group like empty photo albums. I've also removed most of the reference photos from the gallery, since they are all on the Chewie page anyway and I think the gallery should be for new reference images and member's costumes. The old database and FAQ has been deleted and the links section has been updated.

Anyway, that's it for now. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any additions or corrections.

Matt's suit almost "finished"? Any photos? Some of us would love to see how it is turning out. I have to admit that it was somewhat weird to finish a suit...
