WOODY ALLEN SHOW *LONDON* WORLD PREMIER
I'm posting this to tell you about our new production, and to ask
you something.
Our world premier of Woody Allen's Murder Mysteries, a new stage
adaptation of six comedies by Woody Allen, will be presented this
Christmas here in London. I'm a Camera is a small, independently
run British theatre company. Our Patrons are Fiona Shaw, Stephen
Fry, Tom Stoppard and Nicholas Hytner.
The original stories were written by Woody Allen at the outset of
his career and were originally published in the New York Times in
the 1970's. Janey Clarke has taken six Woody Allen short stories
and created a theatre piece set in 1940's New York. Presented in
a
cabaret style with live jazz in between the short plays, the piece
will be stylish and entertaining. The original jazz numbers feature
characters from the short comedies. With six short plays, six
performers and an art deco New York night-club setting, this will be
a hilarious and original new show. Woody Allen has given us
permission to adapt his work. He hopes to be in London this
Christmas, and has expressed an interest in seeing the production.
I'm a Camera are now fundraising for this world premier, which
will be presented at the Warehouse Theatre, South London. This is
where you can help. Our hope is to eventually see the work transfer
into the West End and possibly New York. So in many ways this is an
investment.
We hope to thrill Woody Allen's fans and new audiences alike. But
we need financial assistance now to produce the play, and every
little helps. We would like to invite you to become a Friend of
I'm
a Camera. It's an opportunity to donate as much as you can to the
project, and make a difference. Even £5 will help! Or if you want
to contribute more, it would be appreciated. It's a unique chance
to
help us transform previously overlooked Woody Allen characters and
stories into an exciting new theatre show.
