When I ran in the First two Shelby County Mayoral Races in Memphis,

Tennessee in '78 and '82, I was suprised to hear many of the other

candidates, seven of them, constantly use the word "WE" when they

spoke their platform of reform.

I challenged them at that time for it, as I beleived it to show

weakness on their part.

I recently decided that I would have to say "WE" as well, to succeed.

Haveing said "WE" for over two years, I made the mistake of speaking

for another political personage who has since regretted allowing me

to get away with it all this time, and I have now chosen to only

speak for myself, regardless of the consequences.

It is not so much the idea of winning in ANY office

that I seek as being the REWARD, but... as it is,

THE IDEAS I generate to begin with, that I share,

that bigger than I, I believe.

In Other words, in THIS particular

campaign....the Journey is Much More Rewarding Than The Arrival.
