Yes, she does! And she's kept herself in excellent shape, even after
having a child...yep, Tommy Boyd's a mom!! Anyway, thanks for joining
the group and posting a comment. Enjoy all the features, and feel
free to share Betsy-Tomboy thoughts whenever the mood strikes you.
Best, TZ101

Listen...any chance you might grace us with some reviews/discussions

going on TOMBOY-related subjects, and I can't think of anyone better
suited to get the ball rolling in a literate-yet-fun way. Your move,

Hi all,

I created some new "Avenging Angel" screencaps --
actually the production stills included on the DVD. I
wasn't quite sure where to post them, so I created a
group:

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/betsyrussellunlimited/

I also included some Tomboy caps (warning! nudity!)
that I made a while back.

It's all in the Files section. Hope you'll check them out!

Hey, I was messing around with my Tomboy DVD earlier
and made some GIANT screengrabs.

Since they feature nudity, I didn't want to post them
on your group. Instead I put them on MY group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jewelboobs

You'll have to join, then go here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jewelboobs/files/

Go to the ***Tomboy*** folder, and enjoy.

I've just been watching my Tomboy DVD for the first time. Since it was shot in
L.A. and I
live in L.A., I've been trying to figure out some of the shooting locations.

For example, when Tommy plays the opening basketball game, she drives off on her
motorcycle and passes a sign for the 2900W block of Van Pelt Pl. Sadly, Google
can't find
a Van Pelt Pl. in all of Los Angeles.

The mechanic's shop has a very fake-looking sign out front indicating that it's
the 100
block of Main St., so I don't put much stock in that. The cross street is
Central, and
Central appears again when Tommy is chased on her motorcycle.

During that motorcycle chase, Tommy passes 4th street. There is a Central Ave.
which
intersects with a 4th St. in L.A. near where the 101 crosses the 110.

Tommy and Seville dine at the Atomic Cafe. From what I can tell, the place
closed years
ago.

When Tommy takes the muscle car for a test spin, I see Pasadena St. or Ave.

Would love to know where the water park location was, or the race track from the
climax
of the movie.

Any other Angelenos here?

Nerima

No offense. Surveys show that many female athletes find the word
"tomboy" to be condescending, but many more revel in it as a kind of
badge of honor for rebellious young women. TZ101

I remember telling the film's unit photographer, Brad Einhorn, that
the TOMBOY billboard had the same effect on drooling '80s males as the
famous Marilyn Monroe/blowing skirt billboard from SEVEN YEAR ITCH had
on '50s onlookers. He seemed highly complimented. That particular
horizontal photo gives us a wonderful view of Betsy's million-dollar
gams. Although my all-time favorite along those lines is the image
used for the current DVD cover, and featured as the group photo for
this site. As mentioned, what you see on the cover is flopped and
re-worked; the original proper version of the shot, presented in all
its first-generation glory, is included in our "Tomboy Gallery" photo
album ("Need a Lube Job?").

Wow, I sure would have liked to have seen that billboard while driving to work
every
morning! Sadly, when the movie was released I was in the middle of Michigan,
far from
Sunset Blvd. :)

I went and looked up the photo you're talking about in the Photos section.
That'd have
made a hell of a billboard indeed!

Glad to have you aboard, Nerima. And thanks so much for the TOMBOY
memories...I'm one of the few who actually saw the flick theatrically
when it first came out. And that terrific horizontal shot of Tommy in
her shorts (see photo section) was plastered over a prominent Sunset
Blvd. billboard during the movie's release. As you can imagine, it
was an amazing, super-sexy sight, and one that greeted countless
(lucky) drivers and pedestrians every day on their way to work.

As far as TOMBOY's theme song is concerned, hey, it's as cute and
feisty as our helmeted heroine herself ("...she's a road runner!").
One of these days I'll add those cool lyrics to our Files section.

Hey all, glad to be here.

I remember watching Tomboy on pay cable in the '80s after the parents went to
bed...it
featured some of the most spectacular toplessness I'd seen in my young life!
Best of all, I
knew if Tomboy started at, say, 1:15 a.m. on HBO, by 1:16 a.m. I'd have already
watched
Betsy Russell soaping up in the shower! I watched that opening credits sequence
so many
times (pre-VCR, mind you) that the theme song is forever stuck in my head.

Again, I'm glad to be here. I'd love to meet some other Tomboy fans!

Sacrilege, I know, but a stimulating mental exercise: Adrienne
Barbeau, Tanya Roberts, Phoebe Cates, Catherine Bach...any
thoughts? Weigh in and say hello, TB fans! TZ101

"It turned out all right," said Betsy Russell of TOMBOY in a 1993
Femme Fatales interview. "Actually, that movie surprised me.
I've heard a lot of people really loved (it). At first, I thought it was
going to be kind a dumb, but I've gotten great response." Well
sweet Betsy, consider this site - and the ongoing fan-fiction
adventures of Tommy Boyd - a reflection of that "great response."

Whether you're a Betsy Russell devotee or someone who simply
enjoys the exploits of beautiful, athletic women, this little club
might be the place for you. BR was a sexy starlet from the '80s
who made mostly B-pictures; super-hot with the guys, she also
garnered a gay following as a result of TOMBOY . If you're a
tomboy yourself, or butch, feel free to join up and share your
opinions. The original fiction (when it appears) will be campy
and action-packed, pitting our heroine against neighborhood
bullies and chavinistic rivals. In the meantime, enjoy the Betsy
photo files and other related goodies, which should be up within
a week.

Thanks for taking a look...and Season's Greetings!
