Greetings from Massachusetts, USA!!
I saw him (and met him!!!!!) last October at the Carlyle Hotel. He plays
there every Monday night with the New Orleans Jazz Band, I believe from
September through May. The setting was so intimate; he was only about ten feet
away during the performance. It was a thrill for me to just be in the same room
with him! After the show, he walked right by me on his way out. I was standing
right next to the door from which he exited the room. That's when I spoke to
him. I also caught up with him again in the hotel lobby on the way outside to
his car, and he signed a menu that I had with me. I wish I had brought a
camera. I didn't realize he would be so accessible. I left and walked down
Madison Ave. on such a high from meeting my long-time artistic idol! I was
calling everyone on my cell phone that night!!
I usually don't feel that way about celebrities in general, since they're
human beings like all of us, but Woody Allen is my one exception.
**I also had a "one degree of separation" experience a few years ago. I had
the pleasure of conversing by phone with Louise Lasser! This was job-related
and a completely unexpected surprise!!
