Description
Welcome to the Rachel Weisz Official Club. An exotic-looking brunette with alabaster skin, a heart-shaped face, pouty lips and expressive sultry eyes, Rachel Weisz (pronounced "Vice") caught the attention of her fellow Brits when she starred in BBC's "Scarlet and Black" (1993). In 1994, Rachel earned praise for her performance in the London stage revival of "Design for Living". In 1996, she made the move to the big screen: in Bertolucci's "Stealing Beauty", and in Andrew Davis' "Chain Reaction". In the former, she was the spoiled daughter of a painter involved with a married lawyer, while in the latter she was a scientist teamed with Keanu Reeves in an effort to save the world. Rachel (complete with a flawless American accent) offered an incisive cameo as a bohemian Jewish girl who entrances Ben Affleck in "Going All the Way" (1997). Her first real leading role earned critical praise in "Swept From the Sea" (1997). She garnered worldwide notice as the spunky librarian in "The Mummy" (1999). Her next high profile role cast her opposite Joe Fiennes. She offered a fine performance as a German-speaking Russian soldier who finds romance in the midst of the battle to save Stalingrad in the WWII drama "Enemy at the Gates" (2001). Rachel was also seen as an abused woman who joins with another victim to exact revenge in "Beautiful Creatures", and reprised her role in "The Mummy Returns" (2001). Rachel is the femme fatal in "Confidence" (2003), a noir-ish thriller in which she stars as an unscrupulous pickpocket. In "Runaway Jury" (2003), Rachel stars as a partner in a scheme to manipulate a jury in a landmark case against a major gun manufacturer. Rachel tackles dual roles in the dark thriller "Constantine" (2005). Rachel won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The Constant Gardener" (2005). On May 31, 2006, Rachel and fiancé Darren Aronofsky gave birth to their son Henry Chance.
