Hi Glenda and Bette:
I just got up...(Still keep late hours. Hard to break old habits).
Bette Midler was a kick back then. a lot of the musicians working town got
to see her honing her act. She'd have a few drinks and all of a sudden she
was on stage beside you. Of course that's par for the course for most
musicians. I miss that. We use to join other groups during "after hours"
and jam. Learned a lot of new rifts, fingering technics, vocal tricks.
They don't do that now a days. They have "toys" that they use now in
studios instead. They can make a pet dog sing beautifully. Bette was pure
though. She didn't have the best voice I ever heard but she knew how to use
it to reach people. She sang from the heart and I think that's what endears
her to all her fans even now. I keep hoping she'll make another movie. I
ve found them all quite entertaining, even the ones she labled as flops. To
me she's one of the finest entertainers still working.
Valerie
