sorry for my long (and at this point unexplainable, more to come later)

Hey Guys,

Been a while so I'll do the catch up thing.....
After my 5 year stint at Microsoft, I started working for the Bluetooth SIG just
down the road and yes, THE Bluetooth, we own the trademark and manage the
Bluetooth Specs (that is always the next question).  So anyway, this has kept me
busy with all the work and all the traveling (Asia twice a year, Europe once a
year, and then 1 -3 domestic trips each year)  It's all I can do to keep my
finished scripts updated, LOL.

I am still writing treatments and getting in some script work when I can.  My
agent is so sick of seeing these great treatments with no script in sight... LOL

But alas, I am pacing myself, I have 2 yours before my daughter graduates from
high school and I can move back to Cali, anyway....

So, back to the other reason that I am sending this mail.  I run a site,
www.VirtualSportzCenter.4t.com it is in is infant stages but coming along
nicely, it is also free, for everyone but me as I am, for now, doing it for fun
and thus cost me money for all the hosting and such, but I am looking for some
would be sports writers that can tack a stat sheet and tell the story of the
game, doesn't have to be too accurate as long as it is interesting and reflects
the stats.  We are currently running leagues for Basketball, Hockey and Soccer
(football for the Brits) in Team Play Mode, if you are interested, the way it
works is I will send you stat sheets periodically and you just write something
spicy  You can go to the site and look at some of the one I did to get an idea,
and again I am doing all this for fun but with the intention of building it up
to make money one day.

So let me know if anyone is interested.  Also, PS3 owners are welcome to join
the leagues, too.  The New Team Play feature is going to revolutionize sports
gaming and IT'S FUN as HELL.. LOL

Hey Anthony,

Thanks for the update.  I haven't posted here in well over a year, and
it's high time I did.  Looks like you've been very busy, with all that
dominating the hands free market and all!  :)

As for the writing; one thing I've learned in recent years: you can't
force it.  The writing will come when it comes.  Make the time
whenever you can and don't stress over not getting more done...
there'll be a time for it eventually.

founders, that's just bad form on my part.

OK, so here's what happened... had the sparks of a deal in play a few
years back.  A few more rewrites and we were gold.  Executive was on
board, agents waiting in the wings, the whole thing.  It fell through.

Well that's just how it goes.  I had to lick my wounds and move on.
Only, I found this turn of events took the wind out of my sails far
more than I thought it would.  I didn't write a word for nearly 2
years, thus my absence from here as well.

It was time to choose: keep pursuing this crazy screenwriting dream,
or call it a day.  Those who succeed are those who persevere.

I'm now 37 pages into a script I feel very good about.  The outline is
complete, so now it's just a matter of finishing draft one, then hit
the re-writes.  **Remember the most important rule of re-writes: 7-10
re-writes is a good start**

So who's writing what here now?  All the old school Cameratites give a
shout.  All the recent members, introduce yourselves.

I'll do my best to check in here more often and post post post.

character, at the age of 29, he just produced his first major
movie "Jake's Closet" along with director/writer Shellie Ryan. He is

First and foremost I want to say hi to Fitz and way to go.  Keep
positive, focused and writing and it will happen.
As I myself have been absent I feel I should perhaps re-introduce
myself and get reacquainted with you all. I should have posted this a
while ago, and I apologize that I have not.  The real world being what
it is - jobs (and losing them), 3 year olds, and of course writing -
has kept me away from the net and the group more than I would like.
But having settled in a routine a now budget some net time to be an
active member.
A little about me:  I am the father to a wonderful 3 year old son, am
currently unemployed (do to a layoff), am currently looking for work
as a drafter, and I write mostly horror, science fiction and fantasy,
but have done some drama and romantic work as well, including numerous
short stories and song lyrics.
I have written mostly screenplays and manuscripts for screenplay
development, though I have done some manuscripts for graphic novels
and animated series, as well as novelization.  I am looking to meet
artistic individuals who would like to assist in self publishing
graphic novels, or helping getting my projects into the right hands.
Well, I have gone on enough.  I look forward to meeting and working
with you all.

I would say it depends, is it in narration? Or is it a character referring to
them?  How would that character refer to them giving that characters
personality.  Also, the context with play a part.

So I would say that it sound like a narration that should use the language of
the time of the character narrating.  If that makes sense... LOL  That's what I
would do.  If it's say, a cowboy in the 1700s, he wouldn't be calling them
Native Americans, though by the same token depending on his personality, he may
be more or less mild with the term he chooses to use.

I suppose I should state exactly what I am looking for and go from there.
As I previously stated, I have worked mostly on screenplays and
treatments for screenplays.  I have completed 2 screenplays to date
and 5 treatments.  All are in the horror genre with the exception of 1
treatment which is a romantic drama with a slight spiritual theme.
That being said, I find myself looking for representation for
presenting these works to the proper people, agencies or companies for
production, or at least consideration for production.
I also have other works that are not screenplays, those being geared
more towards graphic novels and/or animated series.  Here I am looking
for artistically inclined individuals who would possibly like to go
into self publishing if not outright contacting existing and
established publishers of such works.
I am more than happy to provide the basics - loglines, synopsis,
outlines, etc - if anyone is interested.
I am very serious in these endeavors and feel strongly about the
product I have to offer.

The bottom line to doing this is writing a good screenplay.  A lot of
people don't take screen writing seriously as a technical craft or an
art form.  I didn't place in several contests with my Vietnam War
script and I knew why.  It was because my spelling and grammar was
screwed up.  Having a great story is only part of it.  You are
presenting yourself as a writer.  Make sure all your commas are in the
right place.  Make sure your spelling is correct.  As a musician I
know that you can have a great song, but if that guitar is out of tune
nobody is going to play your song on the radio.  The same goes for any
type of writing.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Hey man good info, but I think they mean, physically, how did you do it.

For me, it was rough going.  I realized early that there was an inherent
problem.  The good agents that could recognize the genius in my writing already
had a zillion clients and the ones that didn't have a zillion clients could not
recognize good writing if it bit them on the ass... twice.

So I dismissed both those groups and decided to target the ones in the middle.

So I just sent a couple of my treatments and a finished script around to some
agents (though most say they don't accept unsolicited scripts) and some movie
studios.  There is a lot of rejections and waiting in doing this but if your
work is good it will find it way into the right hands.  I stayed away from
contest, mostly just because I just don't really care much for them.  But
anyway, one agent finally contacted me and I have been with her every since. 
She has been getting me some decent exposure, partly, I suspect, because she is
hot (sounds sexist, but it's the truth, especially in Hollywood) and that she's
pretty good at her job.

Sounds easy but this took me nearly 3 years to accomplish.  Might have been able
to do it faster if I didn't live in Seattle, LOL.

Yes, those are the details i believe the readers want to hear... the
specifics.

I invite any member to chime in with their success stories as well,be
it a contest placing, snaring an agent,selling scripts, etc.

It's always encouraging to hear of others' victories while striving
for your own.

First of all, I'm really glad to see that there's some activity back
in the group.  And I hope that a whole bunch of oldies come out of
their cupboards to interact with the newbies.

Most of ya'll probably won't remember me, but I'm a Mod from way back.
  I joined the Camerata when I was in college eight or nine years ago.
  I've gone from being curious about screenwriting to a wretched novice
to semi-knowledgeable to working in the industry in a low-level
capacity to trudging in the trenches of the studio system to...well,
this week.

who is hands down the scariest Joker in history.

Movies reflect the times we live in and we do indeed live in dark times when a
man can have his head cut off in a bus by another passenger.

Heath's performance was indeed chilling!
