SUMMER MOVIE ROUNDUP...   Message List

Re: SUMMER MOVIE ROUNDUP...

That pretty much covers all the films I managed to drag myself to. X-Men 3 I
liked a lot,
though did anyone else notice a GLARING continuity error? When Magneto finishes
moving
The Golden Gate Bridge it is daytime. We cut to the reverse shot and suddenly
it's the middle
of the night. Perhaps it was a meant as an homage to Ed Wood.

I definitely liked Pirates, so glad they didn't just try to remake the first one
and I like the
world they are creating. Davy Jones's strategy is very reminiscent of Totsakin
in The
Ramakien (or Ravana in The Ramayana if you prefer). The end had people burst
into
applause and I can't wait for the third.

Superman was done very well but I think they took the violence a little far and
why is it there
are no heroines these days who aren't "girlie?" What happened to the strong
female
characters, the Katherine Hepburns and Karen Allens? Shrinking violets are all
the rage again
(even in X-Men 3). I think Jeanine Garofallo would have been a better Lois
Lane.

I only saw X3 and didn't like it much. Went by too fast. They didn't spend enough time on the characters. The one liners were forced. Not nearly as good as...

I hope I can remember everything I've seen so far this summer - I've actually been to most of the films I wanted to see this year. I think I just need to hold...

Okay, I don't have time, but it's better than working. Here's my not-so-brief summer movie review list thingy: X-MEN 3 - 6.5/10. I honestly don't remember...

... "Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest - 4/10. Probably would have set the all-time B.O. record if they had just made a single film out of parts 2...

I meant just what I said. If they had made a better film, i.e., just combining parts 2 & 3 into a single film that had a much better pace, I bet we they could...

... just ... pace, ... I agree it could have made more, but you said that it didn't surpass BO records. I'm just saying that you are incorrect as far as I can...

I said "[POTC] ... probably would have set the all-time B.O. record if <rantings of a frustrated cinematographer deleted>", the "big one" as you refer to it....

I see, I just didn't understand what you were saying. The way it read was that Pirates 2 didn't beat any of the BO records, including Titanic's. And from...

At least Dead Man's Chest was more realistic than Titanic. Unless of course you're talking about the 1953 film with Barbara Stanwyck, Clifton Webb and a young...
