Canada abolishes visas for Poles
01.03.2008 11:58
Canada is to abolish visas for Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Lithuania
today.
This will allow the citizens of these countries to travel to Canada and
remain within its territory for 3 months
without a visa.
The decision will officially be announced by Diane Finley, the Canadian
minister for immigration and citizenship
during her meeting with the ambassadors of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and
Lithuania around 6 PM CET.
The decision will be valid the moment it is announced.
Later, Finley will visit the John Paul II Center in Toronto, where she
will meet representatives of the Polish community,
which has been long campaigning for abolishing visas. (mn)

This is wonderful news. It should make it easier for our friends from
Europe to attend future Avonlea Conventions in Toronto.
Thank you Canada !!!
