Re: Newbie here
Hi, Im a newbie too! Hello Everyone!
For my degree as one of my last assignments i have been asked to join
a cult film group for my Cult Cinema unit and i chose you guys as i
think a LOT can be said about The Exorcist!I am happy talking to
everyone about it as i still cant properly get my head around it!
Anyway, my first experience with The Exorcist was about two years ago
when i got so bored of hearing everybody talk about it and finally
got round to watching it. Stupidly, i chose a night when it was on TV
and i was alone in the house (used to be such a fan of horror films
and liked the buzz they gave you when you got scared, but recently
become such a wimp after seeing Saw!)
I was also on edge BECAUSE the film had been hyped up so much over
the years and expectations were high.
I actually think the most shocking elements of the film are in the
first half when she stands in front of the party of guests and starts
behaving uncontrollably. Its all a bit unnerving and i could never
have seen it in the cinema you're so brave!
Maybe one of the worst parts for me was when the girl's mother hears
strange noises coming from the attic. The problem with this was i
have a hatch to the attic in my room at home and being on my own in
the house i got paranoid and didn't sleep a wink that night!
I think its a very clever film, mixing a lot of very effective
suspense and little bit of goriness.
I too am catholic but quite broad-minded and the religious side
doesn't bother me, although the fact that it is based on a true story
makes it all the more disturbing and real.
Im getting goosebumps as i speak!
