In light of recent drama in The Balto League's chats, we have devised
the following set of rules to encourage a friendlier atmosphere. We
will expect ALL members to abide by the following rules of common
courtesy -- it doesn't matter whether you're a channel operator, a
member who has been with the club for five years, or a member who has
been with the club for two weeks. Failure to do so will result in
disciplinary action, subject to the discretion of the channel
operators responding to the inquiry.
1) A few have taken notice of some potentially undesirable roleplaying
behavior occuring within the chat. We feel, however, that banning
certain behaviors outright is unfair to the groups of people that wish
to engage in them. Thus, if nobody else minds at the time, the
behavior is okay - but, be CONSIDERATE of other people's feelings! In
the same way, if an action occurring in the chat makes you feel
uncomfortable for any reason, your first step is to ask the person(s)
involved to please take it to a private message instead! If, and only
if, these efforts fail and you still feel uncomfortable with it,
please contact us (see point #3) and we will try to sort out a
reasonable agreement with you.
2) Threats to get each other banned will not be tolerated. Likewise,
no one is immune from being banned. We do not tolerate character
assassinations, flame wars, telling people to shut up, or use of all
capital letters more than once in 5 minutes (Example: TALKING LIKE
THIS ALL THE TIME). Offenders will be disciplined as we see fit.
3) Anyone who has a genuine concern that they wish to communicate to a
channel operator should either speak to an op on duty (whitewolf_707,
Policho, Silver_Huskey or Acanis) or, if none are available, email the
following address: thebaltoleagueadmin@..., where one of us will
address your concerns. If your concerns are about something specific
going on in chat, we need evidence -- provide a chat log! It's as
simple as using the copy/paste function in mIRC or your browser (if
you use the Java applet websites in the founder's message). You don't
have to have auto-logging enabled in order to do this.
4) Enjoy yourselves! The whole point of our weekly chats is to relax
and have fun. This set of rules is designed to protect your enjoyment
of the chats and make sure that everybody has a good time. Remember,
we want to help you!
-----------------------------------------------------------
In response to certain rumors, we want to say that, yes, vesta_wolf
(AKA Perygrynn, as she is known in the chat) has been banned from TBL
chat. It is not a permanent ban, though, and once she agrees to
cooperate more closely with our chat guidelines we will gladly welcome
her back in.
Dunder (AKA Callee) has also been banned. This is simply because he
asked us to. He had been saying for a long time now that he wanted to
stop coming to the chats. We were doing nothing more than helping him
out with the decision he'd already wanted to make. We have told him to
email us whenever he wants to re-join and we will remove the ban.
Having said that, this was a special situation and we do NOT intend to
ban people just because they want us to, any longer. So don't ask us -
we're going to say no. Thank you.
