I'm not up on current actresses, but there's this amazing rather obscure actress
Elena Lowensohn (also spelled Lowenstein) who I think could pass for a Native

She had a brief scene in *Schindler's List*, was the lead in the independent
film *Nadja* (remember we discussed this film and the connection to the short
story by briefly a few years ago), and I remember her vividly in a Hallmark
production of Willa Cather's *My Antonia* about 10 years ago. She was also in
*Basquiat.*

But maybe Malick will find a true Native American for the role.

I'd like to hear what others think about who should be the female lead--until we
find out who it is, anyway!
