While the characters have yellow skin and only eight fingers, the
Simpsons is an animated sitcom. Most of its plots are typical sitcom
fare, or revolve around social issues, Marge vs. Itchy and Scratchy,
Large Marge. These are the kinds of things that could happen to real
people. Over the top stuff like the Powerpuff Girls is reserved for
the halloween episodes.
