Re: [talkpaul] Let's hear it for John Adams

Oh when I find a new actor I netflix it quick..and he has almost all his movies on netflix..I think I got next in cue Past Midnight, cause I heard he was good in it(even though apparently not a good flick).

Yes even in the bits I have seen of Fred Claus he showed his acting abilities..hes always good in the most highly praised movies to the not so great ones.

I really forgot how much he had been in that I  actually saw.

The whole cast is amazing in John Adams...all really great actors, was so happy to see Tom Hollander, albiet a very small roll..in it! Loved the water eyes and not exactly looking at John. Also am quite pleased to see David Morse, another VERY strong actor in it(hes one of my favs).  And the chemistry between Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti is amazing, they are working well off each other.

I plan on seeing Shoot em up soon.....want to resee Saving Private Ryan only for his scene...after his I am turning it off...that movie traumatized me the first time I saw it with a certain scene and I havent been able to watch it since, sad bit is it is such a great movie...but its so realistic that it makes it hard for me to watch. Like I said I have all his films cued(even the ones I have seen) in order of what folks have said I should see first. Weeee...as soon as I get back to work I will buy some more of his movies. :)

Hey, Melissa -

Yes, welcome to the group! Very pleased that you're
actually posting - hardly anyone does, here. John
Adams, truly an incredible characterization, surely
gonna win Emmys for him, Laura Linney, the show itself,
the director, and hopefully Tom Wilkinson, who is also
outstanding as Ben Franklin. The show is incredible,
isn't it? Makes you feel like you're there, participating
in our country's freedom.

Duets - yes, he totally shined in that film, he was the
only character I really cared about - he has that
quality, to make you give a @#@( about whomever he's
portraying. Have you seen Big Fat Liar? The other
thing I love about him is how he's not afraid to come
off as likeable - he's always had the balls to just
commit a hundred percent to anything he's cast in and
take it to a completely different level. Also recommend
Shoot 'Em Up, if you haven't seen it already.
