Spicezee Bureau Mumbai, July 29: Cine-goers have been denied the pleasure of watching the yesteryear superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi onscreen, yet again, in a Yash Raj Film. News has it that the gorgeous actress Sridevi has refused the role under the pressure of her husband Boney Kapoor.
Yash Chopra had planned a film keeping in mind Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, to revive the glory of old days. The Big B was reportedly very enthusiastic about the venture and had readily agreed to it. "Amar Singh tried to convince Boney to let Sridevi act in Yash's film. Boney still did not relent," a source revealed.
Reports suggest that the actress refused the film because her husband Boney Kapoor wanted her to star in a home production rather than venture outside. However, Boney has rubbished the reports. "I did not tell Yashji
that I will be making Sridevi’s comeback film," he said. He stated that Yash Chopra had indeed a planned a film keeping Sridevi and Big B in mind but the film did not happen due to some other reason.
No other actress has been approached because no one apart from Sridevi would have not suited the role. Yash Chopra has now put the project on the backburner when things did not work out with Sridevi.
Amitabh and Sridevi had earlier created onscreen magic in Inquilab, Aakhri Raasta, and Khuda Gawah. Sridevi's last film Judaai (1997) left the audience wanting for more. However, Boney Kapoor has not ruled out the return of Sridevi and that comes as a bit of relief.
