If anyone is intersted in this please get in touch with me, I know I'd like to
try and get some Spanish American War Reenactors together as a Color Guard
however somehow figure it will be regulated to Civil War Reenactors.

Santiago Day Memorial Service to Be Held In Augusta
Group to hold Memorial Service for Spanish American War Veterans
The Micah John Jenkins Camp No. 164 of the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans
will be holding a Santiago Day Memorial Service at the United Spanish War
Veterans Plot of Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia, on
Saturday, July 25th, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This service will be in commemoration of the 111th Anniversary of the Surrender
of the Spanish Forces defending Santiago de Cuba to the 5th Corps of the United
States Army, under Major General William Rufus Shafter, during the Spanish
American War. As well as to the memory of all the Veterans of the Spanish
American War, the Philippine Insurrection, and the China Relief Expedition, from
1898 to 1902. The service will include speakers on Georgia's participation in
the Spanish American War, Augusta Native Major General Joseph Wheeler, and the
Archie Butts Camp No. 5 of the United Spanish War Veterans.
Following the Memorial Service there will be a Dinner and Meeting of the Micah
J. Jenkins Camp at a local restaurant starting at 2:30 p.m. This meeting will be
open to the public and all are invited to be in attendance.
