Thank you for the information, a few of those names are certainly new to me.
The most interesting appointment for the old fellows that I have found so
far is that of William Oates formerly Colonel of the 15th Alabama, C.S.A. and
Adelbert Ames who was the original Commander of the 20th Maine, U.S.A. and
later a Major-general in the Union Army. Both of these men being appoited
Brigadier-generals of United States Volunteers in May of 1898. Anyone who is
familiar with the Battle of Gettysburg will most certainly recognize these two
units as the ones that had at each other on Little Round Top.
