Much of the older officer corps of both the army and navy saw action
in the Civil War. In addition to those you mentioned, there is
Nelson Miles, George Dewey, William Sampson, Arthur MacArthur,
Winfield Scott Schley, Charles Clark, Robley Evans, Charles Gridley,
Henry Lawton, Fitzhugh Lee, and Charles Sigsbee to name but a few.
There were many more.

Few of the rank and file were old enough to have served in the war.

Incidently, officers were chosen for their service in the Civil War,
especially former Confderates, as a means of binding up old wounds.
