M-1889 Shelter tent   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #153 of 409 |

I have uploaded the first of a series of diagrams regarding the M-
1889 Shelter half to the Photos section of the list website.

I have done this for anyone who is interested in making one of these
tents. It should become apparent to any serious "Stitch counter"
that this is not the Type IIIb tent described in the 1864 literature
despite its similarities. the location of the various parts are not
the same as in the shelter's Civil War antecedant.

This image is an overview showing the principal dimensions of the
shelter half and some of its component parts (i.e. re enforcements,
buttons, button holes, grommets, seams, etc.)

The diagram is based on the description of the tent as given in the
1889 Quartermaster literature.

I will post more detailed diagrams of various parts of the tent as
well as descriptive text soon.
