Dr. José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, wrote of the
brutality of the Spaniards toward the Philippines. His writings had
an effect on Filipinos which, upon his execution, let to an uprising
against Spain and became a part of the events leading to the Spanish -
American War.

I am pleased to report that Rizal's second novel, EL FILIBUSTERISMO,
is now available in HTML format. Two other features that distinguish
it are (1) each chapter may be accessed as a unit and (2) the
footnotes for each chapter are placed within the chapter.

The book is the public domain English translation by Charles
Derbyshire, THE REIGN OF GREED.
