THE FOUR KEYS TO HAPPINESS
KEY ONE: Face Reality and adapt to change. Happiness is both a
state of mind and a quality of life. You can not be happy if you
deny reality. Problems are not solved by denying their existence.
You must face life as it is and cope with it. For this reason you
must adapt to change which is inevitable. To find happiness you must
to adapt to the present reality.
KEY TWO: Control your anxieties. Life will bring anxiety but you can
find ways to deal with it so that anxiety does not control your
life. Remember that God is in charge. Find ways to confront your
anxieties: talk it over with a friend, be constant in prayer, share
your burdens, shift some of the weight from your shoulders to those
who work and live with you.
KEY THREE: Curb your hostility and learn to love. Many problems and
much unhappiness stems from self hate which then is directed toward
others. Learn to love yourself. Learn to appreciate others.
Finally learn to love. "Love one another," said Jesus, "for love is
of God."
KEY FOUR: Consider others and give of yourself. If you are selfish
you are miserable. For life to have meaning you need to enlarge your
hearts and extend your hands. All people are brothers and sisters in
the household of God. And so learn to give. It is natural to
ask, "What's in it for me?" But you will never enjoy a selfish
life. You need a cause, a mission, and an aim in life. You find
your life by loosing it (that is by giving it away!)
These are the four keys to happiness.
