Re: [Sons of Kong] Curse of the Undead!   Message List

Hi there.

This is one of the very few western/horror hybrids I'm aware of. I can add
Shadow of Chikara, Teenage Monster and Campfire Tales to this off the top of my
head. Any other suggestions?

Cheers.

After many years since I've seen it, I at last caught this classic
western vampire thriller on AMC the other morning. Eric Fleming is as
resourceful as I remember as the vampire-killing preacher, and Drago
the gunfighter vampire is neatly creepy and mildly sympathetic as
well, surprisingly. The camera work using shadows is outstanding and
some of the best I've ever seen in any movie. They get a lot of bang
for their buck with that relatively simple effect. The denoument is a
little underwhelming after the good build up, but overall the flick
holds up quite well. There is a clean and spare look to this B&W
flick that gives it an oddly effective mood.

Iain, You might try to find a copy of 'Grim Prarie Stories' from director Wayne Coe. The anthology format film is very impressive, more so for its framing...

Iain, I forgot to mention "Billy the Kid vs Dracula" and 'Jesse James Meets Frankenstine's Daughter" which are only enjoyable for how very poorly performed and...
