He might just be about my favorite actor. His wonderful portrayal
in "The Thing" sets the perfect note for what just might be the
nearest perfect monster movie ever made. The man smoked cigarettes
better than anyone I've ever seen on the screen, and despite his size
dominated darn near every scene he was in. Always looking as if his
feet were hurting just a little, he brought a reality to even the
most outlandish stories. There is a detailed and touching appraisal
of his career over at the B Monster. I recommend it heartily. When
it came to monster movies, Ken Tobey was the man.
