Congratulations. I don't have any insight on the festival but I was born in
Santa
Monica and lived in West LA for a number of years.
It's changed quite a bit since I lived there, but if I was to visit again some
of the
things I would do might include:

Spend time along the beach from San Vicente Blvd to Palisade's Park to Santa
Monica
Pier to Venice Beach.
Drive Sunset Blvd from Malabou to Vine.
Hang out on the beach.
Check out West LA Music.
Go to a Dodger game and have a Farmer John Dodger Dog.
Have dinner at Marina del Rey or Westwood village.
