I posted the query below in March. Well, to answer my own question,
it was Leon Norris in Norristown, Pennsylvania I was thinking of.
That's just north of Philadelphia, so this week I drove my long-dead
GS-1200 up to him and he had it fixed (for a very fair price) within
two days. He only works on Elmos, but he knows and loves them like
nobody else, and he's a nice guy, too.
