Hey, Browncoats,
I was assisting Johnny as a Browncoat Volunteer. (that was me at the door taking
tickets, with Daphne Trowbridge-Williams.)
It was great to see everyone at Can't Stop the Serenity.
And what a turnout! There were folks there from as far away as Sacremento, Santa
Rosa, Fremont and Redwood City. Probably farther - those were the folks who
admitted they'd driven that far to see a couple of films they'd already seen -
and loved!
That's a long drive on a weeknight, through concentrated Bay Area traffic, I
tell you what.
There were some shiny outfits that night -- all the people who dressed up as
characters from Dr. Horrible, Serenity - KUDOS. My favorite, however, was a
t-shirt that said "Mine is an Evil Laugh." I still sort of sniff when I think
that Wash is dead. (sniff. sniff.)
There was also another t-shirt with the "Grrrr Argh" logo on it.
I love it when folks make their own t-shirts, costumes, headgear - and boy were
there a LOT of Jane hats! Yee-haw! I even spied some mighty fine, striped wrist
warmers, like the ones that Penny wore in Dr. Horrible! COOL!
Despite the technical difficulties, I think most of us had a rockin' good time.
There really is nothing like sitting in a movie theater with a couple hundred
people who love Firefly, singing along with the Dr. Horrible songs! I haven't
felt that much Whedon love since I went to the Parkway to watch "Once More With
Feeling."
Happy Independence Day!
