Lila Theatre: Company Auditions

Lila Theatre is searching for six truthful, vulnerable, intelligent, professional artists with extremely strong acting/improvisational and leadership skills that are excited to grow within Lila Theatre’s unique vision. Beyond learning/performing long-form improvisation, being a Company member is an experience of truth, joy, and risk-taking that is achieved by a six month commitment of extremely talented and professional artists.

IMPORTANT: Auditions are pre-screened and by invitation only. If selected we will email you an audition packet.

 

Audition Preparation

Please prepare one minute of ANYTHING!  Again, remember in preparing, we are looking for truthful, non-judgmental, vulnerable, intelligent, risk-taking, professional artists!  Could be scripted or improvised, movement piece or song…  Possibilities are endless!!  Please stick to one minute.  This is an opportunity for us to see YOU!  We will also have a group improv segment, vulnerability section, and individual interviews. Wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in and that show us a little bit about your personality, come warm and ready to play.

 

If selected actors/improvisors will:

 

-          Be deeply committed and involved in an extremely wonderfully intense and close ensemble, contracted for six consecutive months.

-          Perform one weekend night each month in an original (90 minute) Lila Theatre long-form improvisational theatre production at Lila Theatre's space, Stage 250 at the Off-Market Theaters.

-          Perform one Sunday night each month in Temenos, Lila Theatre’s community improv show/jam.

-          Attend all weekly Monday night classes, Long-Form Improvisation from 7-9:30 pm with six remarkable Lila Theatre Training Center Instructors from a range of theatrical backgrounds (Company Members receive this class for free, $120 a month value).

-          Attend all weekly rehearsals, Wednesday nights from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

-          Attend three retreats during the contract that all six actors will be required to attend. These will be scheduled upon all members' availability.

-          Distribute flyers, postcards, and other Lila Theatre marketing material.

-          Receive discounted Master Classes from visiting national improv gurus.

-          Receive six comp tickets for any Lila Theatre productions for use during your six month contract.

 

Please note - if you are cast, you will be required to sign a six month contract.  You will have 3 days to look over it, and are expected to sign at the start of our first rehearsal on Wednesday, February 22^nd.
