8) FILM EVENT: Audrey Hepburn Miniseries
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: Audrey Hepburn was a goddess. This we should all be able
to agree upon. She was beautiful, sharply intelligent, and blessed with a
lightning wit; her death in 1993 was a terrible blow not just for the cinema but
for humanity as a whole. To celebrate her life (as we all should, at least once
a year), the Grand Illusion is showing three of her best films, beginning this
week with Billy Wilder's splendid SABRINA, followed by WAIT UNTIL DARK and
the brilliant CHARADE. @ The Grand Illusion, 1403 NE 50th St, 523-3935.

MONDAY 11/17~
1) COOL EVENT: Full Frontal Exposed!
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: Presented by Women In Film/Seattle and The Warren Report,
screenwriter Coleman Hough joins Warren Etheredge for a revealing examination
of her debut feature script, FULL FRONTAL. The movie, starring Julia Roberts,
Blair Underwood, Catherine Keener, Mary McCormack, David Hyde Pierce and many
more, was directed by Steven Soderbergh. But did the Oscar®-winner's take on
the material equal what the writer had imagined? @ On The Boards (100 W Roy St,
Seattle)—7:30pm. Tickets: $5 for WIF/S members, $7 general admission. A
reception for Ms. Hough will be held at Ten Mercer Restaurant following the
event.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
2) BOOK READING: Mitch Albom
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: Albom's new book is THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN.

TUESDAY 11/18~
1) DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Investigating Sex
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: Distinguishing Features is Seattle's only monthly series
devoted to identifying the Northwest's finest filmmakers. The screening, at
the Seattle Art Museum, will be followed by an in-depth discussion between the
filmmakers and the audience (moderatored by our beloved Warren!). This month's
screening: INVESTIGATING SEX! A quartet of sexologists study the semantics
of the language of love. Starring Nick Nolte, Alan Cumming, Neve Campbell,
Julie Delpy and Robin Tunney. Alan Rudolph's film—NOT available on
video!—screens
this evening as a fund-raiser for the upcoming production of John Helde's
short, HELLO, recipient of the IFP/Seattle's first annual Spotlight Award.
Sponsored by the Warren Report and IFP/Seattle. @ The Seattle Art Museum (100
University St, Seattle)—7:30pm. Tickets are $7.00, available at the door.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
2) FREE MOVIE: Gothika!
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: A female psychiatrist (Halle Berry) wakes up as a patient
in the asylum for the criminally insane where she works and finds that she is
being charged with the murder of her husband, which she has no memory of
committing. As she wrestles to regain her memory, she finds that she is the pawn
of
a vengeful spirit. Also stars Robert Downey Jr., Penelope Cruz, and Charles
Dutton. @ Local Seattle Theatre TBA---7:00 p.m.
WHY SHOULD YOU GO?: This movie is being advertised as a
horror/mystery/thriller but, having just seen this movie a few hours ago, I have
to say that I
thought the movie was kinda campy (of course I saw this movie among a group of
rowdy college students so that undoubtably changed my perception a bit). In
any
case, there are no real reviews posted for this movie as of yet so enter at
your own risk!
HOW DO YOU OBTAIN TICKETS?: [Info for members only!]
ANY TIPS?: This movie is being advertised by a local paper. To guarantee a
good seat, I recomment arriving 45-60 minutes early. To guarantee a seat at
all, I suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early.

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: For those that caught the Gwyneth Paltrow flick, check out

3) CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE FILM SERIES: The Emperor's Naked Army!
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?: Directed by Hara Kazuo, this film is quite simply one of
the most important films ever made. This film is not readily available on VHS

Kenzo, who famously railed against Emperor Hirohito and berated fellow soldiers
into confessing the brutal acts they committed during wartime. Extremely rare
and provocative. Not to be missed @ UW's Johnson Hall 006 ---7:00 pm. FREE.

disappear into the sky. While the locals still adhere to the traditional myth
of the dragon, Great Naga, making a sacred offering to Buddha, the Western
visitors take a more skeptical stance: Dr. Norati sets out to prove that the
fireballs are natural; Dr. Surapol wants to prove the phenomenon a hoax.
Meanwhile,
temple-custodian Abbot Loh believes his monks have been responsible for the
