IFP/Seattle announces the 1st Annual Spotlight Award
The IFP/Seattle Spotlight Award is not your usual shot at fame. It's a
unique opportunity for an independent Pacific Northwest filmmaker to get
support in making a high-quality short film from start to finish.
The award is an exciting package of services, rentals, materials and
mentoring awarded to an emerging Northwest filmmaker. The award will
give the filmmaker significant resources to produce a high-quality,
short narrative film he or she can submit to film festivals and award
competitions . This is a production fund, not a completion grant.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Members of IFP/Seattle who live in our northwest region: Alaska, British
Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington (restrictions apply, see
details below).
IMPORTANT DATES:
Application workshops: April 14, April 28, and May 12
Deadline for application: May 23, 2003
Finalists announced: June 14, 2003
Award announced: July 7, 2003
Delivery of finished film: in time for SIFF 2004

Dan Dusek: Location management services
Microsoft: Digital encoding to Windows Media 9 Series
Modern Digital: HD telecine dailies, on-line editing, tape-to-tape color
correction

IFP/Seattle:Mentoring in key aspects of film production
ELIGIBILITY:
Applicant must:
* Be a member of IFP/Seattle in good standing;
* Currently reside in the region served by IFP/Seattle (Alaska,
British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington);
* Be a member of the core team (writer, producer, director, DP);
* Not be a recipient of a past Spotlight Award.
* IFP/Seattle board members or advisory board members are not
eligible to apply.
* Producers or directors of any feature film which has received
distribution are not eligible to apply. Writers of a previously
distributed feature film who wish to direct a short film ARE eligible.
* Applicants may submit more than one project. Each project
requires a separate entry fee and application package.
Production must:
* Be shot in the Northwest region;
* Be a narrative work with a total running time of 22 minutes or
less, including all head and tail titles;
* Originate on film stock;
* Have no principal photography before the award is granted --
this is a production fund, not a completion grant;
* Be completed in time for screening at SIFF 2004.
