Howdy Dana fans:
My collection of Dana memorabilia is growing very nicely. I now have some great photos of her that I have not seen anywhere else; when they arrive in the mail and are scanned, I will be able to (finally!) finish my video tribute to her.
I also just obtained some magazine articles about her time in Las Vegas, and one of the stories gives the name of the bar she went to after robbing the video store - and the bar still exists under the same name and at the same location! (The bar is "The Lakes Lounge", 2920 Lake East Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89117). This reinforces my guess as to where the robbery took place and where she lived at the time. The video store ("Lakes Video") no longer exists where it was in 1992; if it does its name has changed as I cannot locate it. However, there is a cluster of what appear to be "commercial buildings" at the corner of Lake East Drive and Lake Sahara Drive; my guess is that "Lakes Video" was located there. I have a still image from a recently broadcast program about Dana that shows the front of "Lakes Video" in 1992, and it really looks like it is in that cluster of buildings. Recall that the clerk at the video store said that Dana lived close by, and it was mentioned she went to a nearby bar after the robbery. My sources say Dana lived at what was then called the "Anchor Village Apartments at The Lakes". Today it is known as the "Sunset Breeze" apartments, 3001 Lake East Drive. Lake East Drive is a very short street; GoogleEarth photos show only one apartment complex on it.
I'm still planning to visit Las Vegas in early June, and I will be looking up and photographing every place where I know or suspect Dana may have lived, worked at (I have one of the dry cleaners positively located), or otherwise had some connection to her time in Las Vegas.
Thanks for caring about Dana. May her memory never fade away.
