Upcoming calendar upgrade: Yahoo! Groups calendars are being upgraded to a much improved version. You may not have access to the calendar (for up to 24 hours) when this group is upgraded. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
Description
This group exists to provide a forum for you to engage with and reflect on your experience of the film, "The Passion of the Christ".
So much hype - both negative and positive - has engulfed the film that people's actual experiences of this artwork have been sidelined in favour of journalistic, political or religious posturing and controversy-mongering. This group aims to do a little bit to make it possible for us ordinary people to redress this.
If you have seen the film, reflect on and try to express what your immediate experience of watching it was, right there in the cinema. If you're prepared to share this with other people, that's what this group is for.
This is not a forum for discussion of the film - there are others for that. Neither is it really about what you thought about it later on, how you rationalised it out, how you related it to all the controversy surrounding it. It's about trying to get at and give voice to the immediate experience - which is the most important thing about any work of art.
(So no film reviews please!)
