Before he was Rob Reiner, the big-time film director, he was Rob Reiner,
the actor who played Mike Stivic, Archie Bunker's son-in-law on All In
The Family. Carroll
O'Conner (Archie Bunker) perpetually referred to the character of Mike
Stivic as "Meathead" the writers were able to work in a use of
"Meathead" in the line immediately preceding the Princess Bride reference.
If you are too young to get the Meathead joke, then I suggest that you
watch a couple of episodes of All In The Family, which is currently
airing on the TVLand network. Watching All in The Family will bring new
light to many of the off hand remarks and references to Rob Reiner that
reviewers have been making since he started directing 25 years ago.
