Hey everyone,
I posted a little while ago about an outdoor showing of TPB in Boston.
Sadly, that was rained out, but something even better happened tonight --
"The Princess Bride" Quote-Along. They showed TPB on the big screen, gave us
props (a giant -- like 4 feet long! -- inflatable sword, a bell, bubbles,
and a slide whistle, as well as a guide to when to use what) and encouraged
us to yell out our favorite lines. It was like The Princess Bride Rocky
Horror-style, but without the rude callbacks. And let me tell ya, it was a
BLAST. Riding the subway with my huge sword after was a lot of fun, too.
We used the swords during any scene with a sword, the bell whenever W&B
kissed or looked like they were about to kiss, the bubbles during the
wedding scene to make it all look "pretty," and the slide whistle for any
deaths or sad moments. We also had a "Storybook Love" sing-along and there
was a performance at the beginning, where they took two people (plants,
really) from the audience (again, "audience" is relative, as they were
plants) and had them duel with the swords, then have a rhyming contest, and
finally a battle of wits where instead of iocane powder, one guy got to spit
into the cup of the other guy and guy #2 had to "divine from what he [knew]"
of the first guy to figure out which cup had the spit. It was one hilarious
night, I can tell you that. Once my friend posts pictures, I'll try to get
some somewhere where you guys can access them.
I miss the activity on this board! Has anyone had any other fun TPB
experiences, or anything lately?
Best,
Jess
