I'm a Portland-area (Cape Elizabeth) film composer who's searching for musicians
to perform on some score work. It's not a paying gig (at this point) but a fun,
collaborative opportunity with some potential, and obviously anything that makes
it to a finished project would be fully credited.
Primarily seeking classically-trained female vocalists (all ranges) to perform
both vocalise pieces and lyrical works; proficiency with foreign languages
(particularly Eastern European or Latin) would be a definite plus.
Also on the lookout for musicians who play orchestral instruments; I've got a
well-established network of players of the more usual instruments (guitar, bass,
drums, etc) and am a multi-instrumentalist myself so those areas are pretty well
covered, but I definitely want to incorporate other instruments into some
projects. So if you play oboe, bassoon, cor anglais, symphonic percussion,
violin, etc. I'd like to hear from you.
It's about a 50/50 mix of written scores and guided improvisation.

Joining him will be three special guests: Kelly Caufield, a Good Theater regular; singing sensation Marva Pittman who will be making her fourth appearance with Good Theater; and Dennis St. Pierre who starred as Jean Valjean in Maine State Music Theater’s recent production of Les Miserables.
These four guests will join Good Theater favorites Grace Bradford, Jen Means, Marc Brann, Stephen Underwood, Jennifer Manzi Macleod, Todd & Katie Daley, and Brian P. Allen. New performers to the Good Theater stage include Marie Dittmer, Devon Dukes, John Adams, Benjamin Row and Lady Zen.

In addition to well-known numbers like “Sleigh Ride,” “What Child Is This,” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” singers will feature some lesser known Christmas songs as well (“Cool Yule,” “Blue Holiday,” “Three Wishes for Christmas”).

Passed on from The RI Film Office...
The State Office of Film & TV Needs Your Help:
Dear Friends of Rhode Island Film & Television Production,
For the last five years, we've worked hard to bring an unprecedented amount of
film and television production here to our Ocean State, while providing many new
opportunities for students, crew, vendors, talent, location owners and film
festivals. A few examples of the productions we've hosted include three seasons
of the Peabody award winning Showtime series BROTHERHOOD, the People's Choice
best comedy 27 DRESSES starring Katherine Heigl, Steve Carell's DAN IN REAL
LIFE, the Richard Gere family film, HACHIKO, Walt Disney's UNDERDOG, as well as
EVENING, TELL TALE, TANNER HALL, HOUSE RULES, THE CLIQUE and many more. We are
currently hopeful for the future of film and television in Rhode Island as we
strive diligently to bring more productions home and anticipate an active year
ahead.
Once again, we need your help!
With our state's current fiscal challenges, it is essential we receive feedback
from individuals and companies that have been positively impacted by the film
and television productions, and, more importantly, by the overall impact of the
Motion Picture Incentive Program. Notwithstanding the slowdown of growth due to
the recently enacted "cap" on the tax credit program, we are interested in how
the Motion Picture Incentive Program has helped you and/or your business in the
last five years.
For example, if you are a crew member, how many productions did you work on in
the past five years in Rhode Island and what was the economic impact to you
personally? Did your work in the film industry positively affect your
personal/family life? Were you able to spend more time at home rather than
travel out of state to practice your craft? Were you able to buy a home or start
a new business? Did you receive health insurance? If you are a business/vendor,
has your income grown as a direct result of having Hollywood set up shop here?
Did you hire additional personnel or increase hours for your current staff? Were
you able to save a job? How much did your company earn by providing goods and/or
services to productions in Rhode Island? Most importantly, would you like to see
additional productions filmed in Rhode Island?
This information is crucial to the survival of the Motion Picture Incentive
Program. If the program has had a positive impact on YOUR life or business,
please take a moment to send us a one-page written testimonial by Friday,
November 13, 2009. Attached is a copy of a letter we received from one of our
local vendors which you can use as an example. We look forward to hearing from
you. Thank you for your time.
Warmest regards,
Steven Feinberg

Passed on... Caldera Films, a small Wolfeboro NH-based film company, is seeking
actresses for an upcoming film, The Marriage Counselor.
Synopsis: Bill and Faye Madison's marriage is on the brink of divorce. The only
thing that can save it is an eccentric, radical marriage counselor, Alexandra
Demauparrie. The problem is nobody will say what her methods are, just that she
has a 100% success rate. With nothing to lose the couple decide to give her a
try.
This non-SAG romantic comedy, expected to be roughly 20-25 minutes, will be shot
in the town of Wolfeboro, NH and will be screened there as well. The film is
being made in conjunction with Wolfeboro Community Television and will be shown
on local public access television. All actors will receive a copy of the
finished DVD and notice of all film festivals that the film gains entry into. We
are entering the film in regional film festivals at this point, and will submit
to additional festivals based on its success. Attached is a copy of the
screenplay and treatment. Rehearsals are expected to begin in January with
principal photography completed by mid-February. Our main goal is to have fun
and make new friends while creating an art form.
