Hello all! I'm selling my Christine laid costume from the movie. I'm looking at
200 for it. If anyone interested please let me know!!! I'm 5'3 and 117 lbs.
Katie
I added 2 pics of my new dressing gown done for me by Sheri. It looks
AMAZING!! It's under Katie's Dressing Gown. She does take orders and
is WONDERFUL to work with! Can't wait until I can afford another!
Katie
Well I'm Sheri will probably do a great version of it! Definitely think of her
if you're not feeling up to paying 500 or making your own! I can't WAIT to get
mine in the mail!

Oooh, yes! I'd love to see a recreation of the rooftop dress! I think
I've only actually seen one of those, done by treasuresonearth over on
Ebay - although it was a shoddy nylon replica with no proper corset
*growls* I've considered making one for myself, since all the best
costumers are in America. *wails*

Yes I know! And Sheri's price is WAY more reasonable than that! I looked at
moviegowns.com myself but I couldn't fathom paying that much! Especially since
I will only wear it on Thanksgiving. I believe she's making another Don Juan
dress and then the rooftop dress, but not for me. Maybe next year I will get
those. I can't wait to see them!

My God, those are beautiful! You don't often see nice reproductions of
the movie dressing gown that aren't hand-made by fans (ie, not on a
business level and fiendishly expensive). I know moviegowns.com does an
okay version of the stage dressing gown, but, again, it's something
like $850 for something you could make for a lot less yourself. And the
Don Juan gown is just gorgeous... *sigh*

a Phantom costume. So here's my suggestion:

Sheri will do a lot of Phantom costumes for a very affordable price!
Go check out my dressing gown from the movie!
Katie
Devon,
Ok, I sent yo ua friend request on myspace! I can't
wait to see the costume and hopefully get connected
with some of these people and get an idea of what I
can afford to have done :)! I know that I want it to
be really nice since I probably won't have any others
made besides this one.
Thanks again!!!!

Hi,
Just a little note to say that I have made more updates to my costume
site.
I am totally redoing my Galleries pages and have completed the page
for my "Medieval & Renessance" pages. There are new costumes for
my "Excalibur", "Ever After", "The Mists Of Avalon" and more..
There are also a new "Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves" page that I am
working on as well. I have also added some new "Phantom" pictures as
well.
I have also added new pages for "Sex & The City" on my "Present" page.
I hope you like the changes I am making. I am having fun making them...

That's adorable!!!! I like it.

Cardboard cut out cheezy dont do that....Something cute could be to record the
phantom talking or singing in different parts of the movie and carry the
recording in your purse and everytime you open it up he speaks to you as if hes
a ghost and on your purse you could sew rip and put a phantom mask under the
rip that way you can tell everyone your phantom passed away but you still are
able to carry his spirit everywhere you go because he is forever with you
.........lol

Hey everyone! I know that this group has been VERY SLOW as of late
but I was hoping I could maybe still reach out to you guys. I joined
this group years ago. I have every year since "The Phantom of The
Opera" musical film came out planned on making a Christine costume
for Halloween but for one reason or another have opted for other
equally complicated homemade costumes (Satan, pirate, angel, Nightmare
Sally, Vampire, and Evil Alice)that seems like a few too many but I
made 2 one year for different themed parties and one I made for my
finance of 2 years. My fiance, by the way, hates Halloween, and
what's more, hates Phantom. I respect that Halloween is my thing so I
have decided to go party alone this year and leave him at home. This
brings me to my first question.
How do you hint at being Christine when you have no Phantom? I HATE
having to explain my costume on Halloween and I like it to speak for
itself but if you're not a MEGA FAN you might not get it. I don't
really want to put on a name tag. My ideas so far are, to make a
Phantom doll to take with me, bring a cardboard cutout of the Phantom
and call it my "date" and lastly put a "The Phantom Was
Here" sign on my
body. I'm not really digging any of those ideas and was hoping maybe
you guys have some ideas of your own. Perhaps there are some other
solo Christines out there who have already solved this problem.
My other question is costume related. I'm already halfway done with
my film copy of Christine's "Don Juan" costume, 3 months before
Halloween, but I have hit a snag. THE SKIRT! The actual construction
of the skirt looks uncomplicated but the fabric looks difficult to
replicate. How have you folks solved this dilemma in the past? Does
anyone have any fabric suggestions? Should I make the skirt first and
then sew diagonal pieces? Should I sew strips on the fabric? I'm
kind of stuck and would be REALLY happy if someone knew of a similar
fabric with layers of fabric already on it. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
I've made some new updates to my site "Movie Mannequin". I have
updated some of my gallery pages and there are all new Phantom Of The
Opera pics.I have updated some of my gallery pages and there are all
new pics. There are also some new features like E-Cards and new banners
as well.
I am still doing a lot more work. I hope you like it...

Hi there Grace. Heather here. I don't have any guy friends. Seriously. I still
haven't decided to go as Christine as of yet. I might go as a Jedi or maybe an
angel or vampire. Haven't decided yet. I'm glad you got your wish as to how
you're going to finish your costume. Good luck and ciao for now.
(If anyone wants to chat w/ me, then please give me a ring!!!)

First of all THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! You have all been SO helpful!
Dee you are wonderful! I think you have completely solved my crisis!
I can't believe I didn't think of that before! I'm such a ditz.
Also I have never used fray check before and THANK GOD such a product
exits! I have always burned the edges of synthetic fabric or used wax
but never on this much fabric. I was kind of wondering how I would
make this work. I enjoy the project of sewing but I'm not very
experienced and my sewing machine SUCKS so maybe I'll be contacting
you in the future ;) I think I'm about ready to order fabric and then
I'm off to work on the skirt.
Hey Heather, don't wait for a boyfriend to go as Christine. Guy
friends work just as well and honestly they work a little better. I
have a lot of theatre friends and have found that the love of my life
is totally the opposite so for me my friends are usually a better bet
on this kind of stuff. If I get my costume completed in a timely
fashion I might start bugging my guy friends to be my platonic date
for the night. Lord only knows that I'll be the one constructing the
costume so I'll need plenty of time if that'll work. Chances are
though Heather you're not going to find many straight men who are
willing to dress up as the Phantom on Halloween, if I have a "date"
for the night he'll most likely be one of my gay friends.
Thanks again everyone!

That actually does help some thanks. I think I'll do something with a
mask. I also don't really mind cheesy. My costume is going to be
AMAZING so I kind of expected this little add-on to be just funny,
once everyone attending the party has figured it out I can ditch the
"prop." I think I may just put a mask in my basket. Thank you!

equally complicated homemade costumes (Satan, pirate, angel, Nightmare
My ideas so far are, to make a
Phantom doll to take with me, bring a cardboard cutout of the Phantom
and call it my "date" and lastly put a "The Phantom Was Here" sign on my

Just thought I'd write a quick note and update you guys on my latest
news. For my Christine/Marguerite dress I've decided to use three
patterns I have already. I will be using M5444 for the sleeves:
http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5444.htm?search=5444&page=1
M4997 for the lace-up
bodice:http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4997.htm?search=M4997&page=1
And I'll use S9966 for the white blouse and the skirt.

Fabric shopping is next on my list, so I'll try to post pictures when
I have the fabric. I'm thinking of using either blue or green suede
for the dress. Not sure which I'll decide on. Thank you everyone for
the advice.
Sarah
Thanks. It's always nice to know about sales. :) I don't use online fabric
stores much. I'll probably check the local stores first, and then if I don't
find anything I'll visit denverfabrics.com.

Hi Grace,
It's good to see another Chaney fan out there. ;) I've loved that costume for
years, and every time I watch the movie I want to make it. I might wear it for
Halloween if I get it done it time, but that is doubtful. I really want to
finish it by December 6 though. I've been working on "The Jewel Song" (Ah! Je
ris de me voir) from Faust for quiet a while, and near the end of the semester I
will be singing it for a recital here at school. So I would love to have the
dress to perform the song in. I'm looking for a different pattern now, but if I
can't find one I'll try to make the two I have work. I know one thing for sure,
I'm definitely doing a trial run of the dress with cheap fabric before I make
the real thing. I'll let you know when I know more. More pictures are being
added as we speak. :)
