Greetings fellow Duesers!

Have you been wondering where you'll get a chance to enjoy Due South again next
year? Have you been hoping to get together with friends and fellow fans to
celebrate one of the greatest series ever made? Have you been considering what
to do with all that Christmas money you received just a few weeks ago? Well
think no more!

I'm very pleased to be able to announce a new DS convention for May 2000!

What's big? What's green? What's beautiful? What's probably Detroit's finest
example of automotive engineering?

That's right! Ray Vecchio's 1971 (or 1972, but who's counting) mint-condition
Buick Riviera! (Aw shucks... until the last one I was hoping it might be David
Marciano's gorgeous eyes...)

Along with Fraser's red serge and stetson, the Riviera is probably one of the
most recognisable icons of Due South fandom, so what better emblem to adopt for
our convention? You are all hereby cordially invited to join us for a weekend
of fun and celebration at RivCon 2000.

So how about some more details?

RivCon is a fan-run charity convention which will be held at the Novotel,
Preston, United Kingdom from 26th-28th May 2000 inclusive. A packed schedule of
events will include a Charity Auction, Gala Dinner (a sit-down waiter-style
dinner with after-dinner entertainment), Discussions, Quizzes, Competitions,
Bola Throwing (yeah!!!!) and a 24-hour Video Programme. In addition, we're
hoping to bring you those green eyes mentioned above (not forgetting the rest of
the incredible man) as Mr David Marciano and his wife, Katayoun Amini (Angie
Vecchio) have been invited to join us as our Special Guests of Honour.

We will be accepting registrations for Full Weekend, One Day Saturday/Sunday or,
if all you can manage is to be there in spirit, Non-Attending Memberships at the
following rates:

Full Weekend: 40 UK pounds
One Day (either Saturday/Sunday): 25 UK pounds
Non-Attending: 10 UK pounds
Gala Dinner: 20 UK pounds per person (on top of registration)

Children 6-16 registration half price, under 6s free!!!!!

Overseas attendees are welcome. Please contact us for equivalent rates and
methods of payment.

Accommodation at the Novotel, Preston is available at a room rate of 55 UK
pounds per night for a twin/double room including breakfast. Two children can
stay free of additional charge when sharing their parents' room. Triple rooms
may also be booked for 65 UK pounds. Access to the hotel's outdoor heated
swimming pool plus room amenities like remote control TV with satellite, tea and
coffee-making facilities, hairdryer and modem point are all included.

Our chosen charities will be the Wolves of Palacerigg and the Catalog for
Giving.
