(May 10, 2007- Burbank, CA) - Walt Disney Records will release the soundtrack
for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End on May 22, 2007.  The third film in
the Pirates of the Caribbean series, At World's End features music by Academy
Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, who also wrote the music for the second
film, Dead Man's Chest and composed original themes for the first, The Curse of
the Black Pearl.



Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, finds our heroes Will Turner (Orlando
Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey
Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his
mind-bending trap in Davy Jones' locker - while the terrifying ghost ship, The
Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading
Company, wreaks havoc across the Seven Seas.  Navigating through treachery,
betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and
confront the cunning Chinese Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat).  Now headed beyond
the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final,
titanic battle - as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of
the freedom-loving Pirate way, hangs in the balance.



As with the previous Pirates films, and with a nod to its swashbuckling
predecessors in the genre, music plays a central role in At World's End.  The
score features melodies filled with excitement and intrigue as befits the
pirates' latest heroic journey.  "Many of the sequences are designed as mini
operas," explains director Gore Verbinski, "and I like to think of the music as
internal to the storytelling rather than score."



Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer creates a number of new themes for
the film.  "I can't think of anyone else who could compose a simple, dirge-like
pirate song, and then expand it into a stirring anthem in three-quarter time,"
says producer Jerry Bruckheimer, praising Zimmer.  The Walt Disney Records
soundtrack recording begins with this somber dirge, "Hoist the Colours,"
co-written by Zimmer and director Gore Verbinski (with lyrics by Ted Elliott and
Terry Rossio).  Zimmer then invites the listener to continue the journey, this
time eastward to "Singapore," a thematic track blending Chinese-influenced
melodies with pirate attitude.



"We have flutes from all over the world.  We have chimalon from Romania.  We
have banjos from America," reveals Zimmer.  "There's an eclectic sort of
landscape to the whole thing so it does feel more like a journey, like you're
truly going to the end of the world and beyond."



Throughout his career, composer Hans Zimmer has proven himself a versatile
composer.  "There's seemingly no genre that Hans is incapable of writing for,
whether the adventure and fantasy of Pirates, contemporary or historical drama,
all with equal passion and skill", says Bruckheimer.  "Among so many other
accomplishments, Hans has really brought ethnic authenticity into the mainstream
of film composition, such as the extraordinary African sounds he melded into
films like The Lion King, The Power of One, and our own Black Hawk Down, or the
Asian undertones for The Last Samurai."



Recognized as one of the film industry's most respected and innovative
composers, Zimmer entered the world of film music in London during a long
collaboration with famed composer and mentor Stanley Myers, which included the
film My Beautiful Launderette. Having already scored two Best Picture winners,
in the early '90s Zimmer cemented his position as a pre-eminent talent with the
award-winning score for The Lion King. The soundtrack has sold over 10 million
copies to date and earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Score, a Golden
Globe, an American Music Award, a Tony Award and two Grammy Awards. In total,
Zimmer's work has been nominated for 7 Golden Globes, 7 Grammys and 7 Oscars for
Rain Man, Gladiator, The Lion King, As Good As It Gets, The Preacher's Wife, The
Thin Red Line and The Prince of Egypt.

   Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is the third part of the trilogy begun by the 2003
film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, following the 2006
film Dead Man's Chest. It is directed by Gore Verbinski, and stars Johnny Depp,
Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Mackenzie Crook and several other actors from
the first two films. Disney has announced a released date of May 25, 2007.
   There are several rumors as to what the full title of the movie will be. The
Internet Movie Database has variously listed it as Pirates of the Caribbean:
World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Pirates of the
Caribbean: Uncharted Waters. Media sources [1]. The July 10, 2006, edition of
Cynopsis, a TV and movie industry e-mail newsletter, reported that the title is
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith
Richards will have a cameo appearance as Captain Jack Sparrow's father.[1] The
title was also referenced in USA Today.[2] Neither reference to the title named
a source. The full name of the movie has not yet been announced by Walt Disney
Pictures, and an IGN article reports via an anonymous Disney representative that
At World's End is not the title for the third film and that the true title will
be revealed in the coming months.[3]

   It is expected that the next film will involve Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann
joining forces with their old enemy, Barbossa, to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow
and Bootstrap Bill Turner and defeat the alliance between Davy Jones, Cutler
Beckett, and new villain Sao Feng. The first fifty-six pages of an early draft
of the script have leaked online. Co-writer Ted Elliot confirmed on the website
KeepToTheCode.com that this is a portion of an extremely early "budget draft" of
the script, and while some of the broad strokes of the story are consistent with
the final version, specific events and dialogue are very rough when compared
with the final film, and these pages do not reflect the final film's writing or
quality.[4] This early, rough version of the script shows Will Turner, Elizabeth
Swann, and Barbossa traveling to the Orient and confronting Captain Sao Feng in
search of charts that lead to "World's End". Feng is captain of the red-sailed
pirate ship Empress, and hosts a
  mysterious "dragon lady" onboard his ship. Another element of the ride is
represented in this version of the script, when Will, Barbossa and their crew
sails their ship; an oriental junk named Hai Peng; off the "end of the world" a
huge, straight drop in the middle of the ocean, mimicking the large drops found
on the Pirates of the Caribbean theme park attraction. Jack Sparrow and the
Black Pearl are found in Davy Jones' Locker, a kind of purgatory made up of
nothing but sand and strange crabs. Will is intent on retrieving the Black Pearl
as it is the only ship with the speed necessary to overtake the Flying Dutchman
and therefore rescue his father Bootstrap Bill Turner. This version of the
script shows that Admiral James Norrington has Davy Jones and his crew at his
command, having captured his heart in the second film. Many of the rumors
include Barbossa giving his life for Jack when the Kraken attacks a ship that
they are on (not the Pearl) and Barbossa is ripped apart.
   A recent article in Empire magazine revealed a visit to the Singapore set
which features in part of the movie. According to another article in
Entertainment Weekly, director Gore Verbiniski, revealed a basic plot: "Piracy
itself is at stake. It's like the railroad coming to the West". Verbiniski
continues on to state that within the film there will be: "a conference of the
world's pirate leaders and a treacherous journey to the literal ends of the
earth".[5]

With Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest about to take the top box office
spot for a third weekend in a row, Walt Disney Pictures unveiled the first
footage from the third installment at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. While
it was previously believed to carry the subtitle "At World's End," those words
were not included in the presentation and we're expecting you'll be hearing a
new subtitle soon. (Spoilers ahead!)

The footage was about two minutes long and included brief interviews with
producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Orlando Bloom. Chow Yun-Fat's character had many
speaking lines in the clip, which featured lots of Singapore floating village
shots, a rescue Captain Jack Sparrow scene, a scene where Sparrow has to
convince the crew to run back and forth on the ship deck to rock a ship over,
Jack the undead monkey in Chinese Warrior armor, shots of Barbossa and Sparrow
amid a huge shipboard sword battle, and a sword fight between Sparrow and Davy
Jones atop a crows nest in a giant storm.

   If possible, I could use your help on a small matter.  A few images have
appeared online (one in the last few days) of Captain Jack Sparrow wearing Asian
Togs.  The first such image (which appeared several months ago) was reported on
some sites as being the first image from the third PIRATES film.  At that time,
I contacted some of you and let you know that it was not from the third film.

   I can now confirm for you that the images are not from the second or third
film and that there have been no scenes filmed with Jack in Asian Togs.  If you
could help me by clarifying this on your sites and in your forums and removing
them from your static content, it would be very helpful.  As you can imagine, we
are concerned about the images causing confusion but also being picked up wider
by other sites as actual stills from the film.
