HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN
In "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," Harry, Ron and
Hermione, now teenagers, return for their third year at Hogwarts,
where they are forced to face escaped prisoner Sirius Black, who
poses a threat to Harry. Harry and his friends spend their third
year learning how to handle a half-horse half-eagle Hippogriff,
repel shape-shifting Boggarts and master the art of Divination.
They also visit the wizarding village of Hogsmeade and the
Shrieking Shack, which is considered the most haunted building in
Britain. In addition to these new experiences, Harry must
overcome the threats of the soul-sucking Dementors, outsmart a
dangerous werewolf and finally deal with the truth about Sirius
Black and his relationship to Harry and his parents. With his
best friends, Harry masters advanced magic, crosses the barriers
of time and changes the course of more than one life. Director:

has been convicted of crimes, including manslaughter of Gong-ju's
father. Both are imprisoned by either body or mind, but are able
to establish a relationship despite these handicaps, and they're
able to find love and acceptance with each other. The film shows
how these two social misfits were brought together by fate, and
had to fight their families to stay together. In Korean with

Nae-sang Ahn. 2002, CC, MPAA rating: NR, 132 min., Drama, Facets

sex as a tool to climb the social and professional ladder.
Sandrine and Natalie work at a strip club; Natalie performs an
erotic act on stage while Sandrine serves drinks. After they both
get fired, the two become roommates and Natalie begins training
Sandrine in the art of seduction and plan to take on the world of
men. Their top prize is Christophe, a charming heir apparent and
rising star at a large bank. After landing jobs at the bank and
"working" their way up the ladder, the femme fatales don't
bargain for the ultimate cruelty and power of their prey and soon
find Christophe, a man who controls all whom he meets, their
ultimate match. In French with English subtitles. Director: Jean-
Claude Brisseau. Stars: Sabrina Seyvecou, Coralie Revel, Roger
Mirmont. 2002, CC, MPAA rating: NR, 112 min., Thriller, Box

SLEEPOVER
School's out! Julie (Alexa Vega) has invited her best friends --
Hannah (Mika Boorem), Farrah (Scout Taylor-Compton), and Yancy
(Kallie Flynn Childress) -- to come celebrate the last day of
junior high, but what begins as just another sleepover turns into
the adventure of their lives. Eager to cast off their less-than-
cool reputations, the friends agree to a challenge from the
"popular girls": an all-night scavenger hunt. With Julie's father
distracted by a home-improvement project downstairs, they sneak
down the rose trellis, borrow Yancy's electric car, dodge Julie's
mother at a nightclub, steal a pair of boxer shorts from the
cutest guy in town (Sean Faris), go to their first high school
dance, fall in love, and in the end, learn a little something
about themselves. Typical girl teen comedy: boys and pseudosex.
Director: Joe Nussbaum. Stars: Alexa Vega, Mika Boorem, Kallie
Flynn Childress, Scout Taylor-Compton, Sam Huntington. 2004, CC,
MPAA rating: PG, 90 min., Teen comedy, Box office gross: $8.070
million, MGM, $19.98 VHS SRP. DVD: Day & Date.
TERMINAL, THE
"The Terminal" tells the story of Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), a
visitor to New York City from Eastern Europe, whose homeland
erupts in a fiery coup while he is in the air en route to
America. Stranded at John F. Kennedy International Airport with a
passport from nowhere, he is unauthorized to actually enter the
United States and must improvise his days and nights in the
terminal's international transit lounge until the war at home is
over. As the weeks and months stretch on, Viktor finds the
compressed universe of the terminal to be a richly complex world
of absurdity, generosity, ambition, amusement, status,
serendipity and even romance with a beautiful flight attendant
named Amelia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). But Viktor has long worn out
his welcome with airport official Frank Dixon, who considers him
a bureaucratic glitch, a problem he cannot control but wants
desperately to erase. A well-honed comedy -- with some romance --
by the always craftmanlike Steven Spielberg. Director: Steven
Spielberg. Stars: Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Stanley Tucci,
Chi McBride, Diego Luna, Barry "Shabaka" Henley, Kumar Pallana,
Zoe Saldana, Eddie Jones, Jude Ciccolella, Kevin Weisman. 2004,
CC, MPAA rating: PG-13, 128 min., Comedy, Box office gross:
$77.032 million, DreamWorks, $15.95 VHS SRP. DVD: Day & Date.
ZHOU YU'S TRAIN
Twice a week, Zhou Yu (Gong Li), a beautiful artisan, takes the
train to faraway Chongyang, where she indulges in a torrid affair
with Chen Ching (Tony Leung Ka-Fai), her poet-lover. United by
their passion, he finds in Zhou the ultimate muse, while she
believes Chen to be her ideal soul mate. But accompanying Zhou on
her long, lonely train rides are two individuals who threaten to
derail her romantic idyll: Zhang Qiang (Sun Honglei), a young
doctor hopelessly obsessed with her, and Ziu (Li, in a dual
role), a mysterious young woman who bares a striking resemblance
to Zhou and seems to be following her every move. A passionate
tale of one woman's search for perfect love, the film is a
sensual evocation of distance and time, reality and imagination,
where the only thing that's truly real is what's in one's heart.
In Chinese with English subtitles. Director: Sun Zhou. Stars:
Gong Li, Tony Leung Ka-Fai, Sun Honglei. 2004, CC, MPAA rating:
PG-13, 92 min., Romantic Drama, Box office gross: $0.140 million,
