Friday, and
Saturday nights. Some daily highlights include:
· Sunday, November 7, 9a-6p: 5th ANNUAL DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (DP) WORKSHOP
AND AIVF SALON with Tiffany Laufer (Los Angeles) and Cleveland legend Robert C.
Banks,
Jr. An IP signature event, this wildly popular, hands-on workshop allows
participants to
help DPs light and shoot scenes on 16mm film, which is then screened the next
weekend
at the festival. Fee is $50, which includes lunch the day of the workshop and
admission to
the 2004 OIFF Friday evening, November 12. Limited seating available,
reservations must
be made and paid for in advance, deadline November 4. Location is at WVIZ/PBS-
IdeaStream, 4300 Brookpark Road.
· Monday, November 8, 7p and 8p: Film and Art Opening Night reception at 7p
(free and
open to the public), and at 8p the Ohio premiere of the feature film NOISE. A
young
divorcee and recovering alcoholic moves into a Manhattan apartment that seems a
bit too
secluded to be true. It is: upstairs lives Charlotte Bancroft (ALLY SHEEDY),
who in addition
to having one of the all-time-great thriller names is a sociopath of some
reliability.
· Tuesday, November 9, 7p and 9p: a short film program at 7p including THE
SELECT FIT
by Mansfield, Ohio native Daniel Roemet (A video editor, with the power to
manipulate
reality, gets enlightenment from two jaded angels.), and a feature film
presentation at 9p.
· Wednesday, November 10, 7p and 9p: a short film program at 7p, and at 9p the
world
premiere of the feature film PHOTO-FINISH. Photographer Joe Wilde is devastated
when
Elen Feathers leaves him to pursue an affair with wealthy James Wise.
Descending into a
spiral of jealous obsession Joe plots an orchestrated campaign of revenge and
voyeuristically pursues James' vulnerable wife Martha. When he seduces her, the
results
are catastrophic. PHOTO-FINISH is a modern morality tale. A psychological
drama dealing
with lust, betrayal and revenge.
· Thursday, November 11, 9a-8p: OHIO DAY, films written, directed, photographed,
and
starring Ohioans, starting at 9a and ending at 8p with a double feature: the
world
premieres of science-fiction feature films MARTIANS FROM VENUS and SHADES.
· Friday, November 12: noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and night, one
highlight
at noon is the Ohio premiere of the feature film IN THE LAND OF MILK AND MONEY.
When
Mothers are the "monsters" how can we react? "Are you now, or have you ever
been…a
Mother?" This outrageously daring comedy turns the `50s style sci-fi on its
head. A
scathing social satire that is scarily relevant to today's world. Bold,
experimental, and
subversively funny.
· Saturday, November 13, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and night,
one
highlight at 4p is the Ohio premiere of the feature film SINKHOLE. The story of
Jason
Griffin, a high school teacher dismissed due to alleged romantic relations with
an
underage student. When Jason, now working at the local landfill, discovers the
body of a
young woman among the refuse, he sets in motion a chain of events that ends in
violence
and emotional devastation.
· Sunday, November 14, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and night, one
highlight
at 8p is the Ohio premiere of the feature film SO GLAD I MADE IT. The film is
the saga of
singer songwriter Roger Salloom, a 50-something former 1960s psychedelic rocker
and
1970s Nashville songwriter, who tries to jump-start his career after a 20 years
absence
from the music business.
