presented at Cleveland Public Theatre, 6415 Detroit Road, and are

· Saturday, November 1, 9a-6p, at the Gordon Square Arcade, 6516
Detroit Avenue: DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP, back by popular demand from the
2002 OIFF, with New York City-based production company Sugar
Pictures, which has produced projects for HBO, CINEMAX, and PBS. The
workshop provides hard-won lessons from professional filmmakers on
researching, fund-raising, producing, and marketing non-fiction
films. DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS OCTOBER 15; space is limited and
on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fee for the class is $150.
· Sunday, November 2, 9a-5p, at WVIZ/PBS-IdeaStream, 4300
Brookpark Road: 4th ANNUAL DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (DP) WORKSHOP with
Chip Karpus, Edward Feil, and Cleveland legend Robert C. Banks, Jr.
An IP signature event, this wildly popular, hands-on workshop allows
participants to help three DPs light and shoot scenes on 16mm film,
which is then screened the next weekend at the festival. Fee for the
workshop is $20, which includes admission to the 10th Anniversary
OIFF Friday evening, November 7.
· Monday, November 3, 8p: the Ohio premiere of the feature film
FLIGHT FROM DEATH: THE QUEST FOR IMMORTALITY. Narrated by Gabriel
Byrne, the film is an epic documentary dealing with the ways our
everyday behaviors are affected by an awareness of our own mortality.
· Tuesday, November 4, 6p and 8p: a short film program at 6p and
at 8p, in honor of Election Day, is the Ohio premiere of the feature
film UNPRECEDENTED: THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. A riveting story
about the battle for the Presidency in Florida and the undermining of
democracy in America from co-executive producer Amy Sommer who was
nominated for an Academy award in 1997 for "Waco: The Rules of
Engagement".
· Wednesday, November 5, 5:30p, 7:30p and 9:30p: a premiere
presentation ($20 for films, discussion on CHOICE, reception) at
5:30p, a short film program at 7:30p, and at 9:30p the world premiere
of the feature film THE DEVIANTS. An outrageous comedy about a
matchmaker for people with very unusual dating problems. By returning
filmmaker Reid Waterer whose short "My Neighbor the Freak"
was a finalist for the OIFF's Best Short Film.
· Thursday, November 6, 9a-9p: OHIO DAY, films written,
directed, photographed, and starring Ohioans, starting at 9a and
ending at 9p with the Ohio premiere of HUNGRY HEARTS (A well-known
gourmet chef for the rich and famous has been hired to cater a feast
for a small group of beautiful women, a task that seems routine until
the chef realizes that this is a suicide party) starring an exemplary
cast of well-known faces from television, and Hollywood and
independent films.
· Friday, November 7: noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and
night plus the PREMIERE PRESENTATION at 6p of the Ohio premiere of
the feature film PARTNERS OF THE HEART (Narrated by Morgan Freeman,
the film is about a black apprentice with a genius for surgery and a
white surgeon who dared defy medical gospel forging a partnership
that changed the course of medical history), panel discussion on RACE
AND ITS HISTORY IN AMERICA, reception.
· Saturday, November 8, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day
and night, one highlight at 6p is the world premiere of the feature
film NEVER TRUST A SERIAL KILLER (An eccentric Chicano's obsession
with catching a serial killer turns his "roommate's" world
upside down) from well-known and award-winning television and film
talent both behind and in front of the camera.
· Sunday, November 9, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and
night, one highlight at 2p is the Ohio premiere of the feature film
ROBOT STORIES (Four stories about love, death, family and robots is
science fiction from the heart, set in a world of robot babies,
android office workers and digital immorality) from award-winning
filmmaker Greg Pak and with on-camera talent from "The Joy Luck
Club" and the NBC drama "Crossing Jordan".
