FINALISTS AND WINNERS CONGRATULATED OF THE 2000 OHIO INDEPENDENT
SCREENPLAY AWARDS

Cleveland, Ohio- The Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards (OISA) are
given to two stellar screenplays: Best Screenplay and Best Northcoast
Screenplay (majority of the screenplay set in Cleveland, Ohio).
For the 2000 OISA, "Pobochick" by Loreen Niewenhuis & Robin
Slutsky triumphed for the Best Screenplay. "Pobochick" is
about two blundering brothers who inherit a family funeral home; the
brothers discover hidden family secrets and learn a few lessons along
the way. "Halfway Home" by Vin Morreale, Jr. & Debi Kalman
Bailey prevailed for the Best Northcoast Screenplay. "Halfway
Home" is about Terry Matthews, who, after a short career as a
petty criminal, gets sentenced to work in a group home for the
emotionally challenged and there learns the meaning of dignity.
The runners-up for Best Screenplay were "The Ellet Family
Navy" by Kris Hall and "Native Tongues" by Melinda L.
Donahey. The runners-up for Best Northcoast Screenplay were "One
in a Million" by Todd Leslie and "Bender's" by Marc
Dziak.
