opportunity to take part in an American tradition, the broadcast of
the 79th Academy Awards® ceremony at Oscar Night® America (ONA). ONA
is the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' grassroots program
that enables charities, such as northeastern Ohio's Independent
Pictures, to host the only licensed ONA in the Cleveland television

The mission of IP is to ensure freedom of expression through the art
of independent media in the larger struggle for social justice and
equality. IP accomplishes its mission by supporting emerging media
artists through a variety of programs and services, and by providing a
consistent, reputable venue for media work the public would not
otherwise see in Ohio. This requires not only programs geared to the
artist but also education and audience building activities.
