'UNBREAKABLE' A TRILOGY?
According to Bruce Willis. While participating in an online chat
to promote the film on Yahoo earlier in the month, Willis is said
to have revealed, "Unbreakable is the first part of a trilogy of
films. I can't tell you about the others ... but we're supposed
to do two more. You'll understand how it lends itself to a
continuing story."
'DAMNED' CASTING
Renee Quast has joined the cast of The Queen of The Damned.
She'll star alongside Stuart Townsend (Lestat), Aaliyah (Akasha),
Vincent Perez (Marius) Lena Olin, Claudia Black and Simon Black.
BANDERAS EYES 'FU MANCHU'
Antonio Banderas is in talks to star in "Fu Manchu," the next
film from hot Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia. "Fu Manchu"
would star Banderas as Nick Smith, an amnesiac, Latino FBI agent
who's on the trail of the mythical and dastardly Chinese doctor.
KANE HODDER RUMOR
Last week Kane Hodder known for his role as the masked Jason from
"Friday the 13th" fame was rumored to direct a film project for
New Line. It is now being rumored that the title of that movie
will be "At Night It Wakes" and will star Kurt Russell.
GOSS SIGNES ON TO 'ZIGZAG'
Luke Goss has signed on to his first major Hollywood film role.
Goss will play a scheming nightclub owner called 'Cadillac Tom'
in "Zigzag", a new film starring Wesley Snipes and Natasha
Lyonne. "Blade" scribe David S. Goyer wrote the script of the
movie which begins shooting in LA in January.
'ELVIRA'S HAUNTED HILLS'
The official site is up for Elvira's up coming flick, "Elvira's
Haunted Hills." Set in 19th century Carpathia the big-chested one

'LOST AND FOUND' GETS GREEN LIGHT
Universal Pictures has greenlit the comedy "Lost and Found" for
a mid-March start. "Malcolm in the Middle" star Frankie Muniz
and Nickelodeon mainstay Amanda Bynes are locked in the starring
roles. "Lost and Found" revolves around A youth has an idea for
a movie that is promptly ripped off by an unscrupulous producer.
When no one believes the kid, he and his pal set off to right the
record. The film bears the same title as the recent David Spade
comedy "Lost & Found," though it is unclear at present whether
Universal will lose the title and find another to avoid
confusion.
CARREY TELLS WHY HE PASSED UP 'PHONE BOOTH'
While talking to the Calgary Sun, Carrey spoke of nixing Phone
Booth, saying, "I just wasn't in the right space to do that
movie. I'd just come off Me, Myself & Irene and The Grinch and I
was in a really upbeat frame of mind I didn't want to go to a
phone both and think about dying through the entire project. I
want to work with Joel again, but the timing just wasn't right."
'GRINCH' TOPS BOX OFFICE ONCE MORE
Speaking of Jim Carrey "The Grinch" comedy remained No. 1 at the
box office during a record-breaking Thanksgiving holiday weekend,
defying industry expectations the crown would go to one of Walt
Disney Co.'s new releases, either "Unbreakable" or "102
Dalmatians."
GRIECO IN 'MADNESS'
Richard Grieco has signed on to "Manhattan Madness", a $3 million
budget Hong Kong-produced 'digital movie' starring Grieco as an
assassin who kills the wrong twin sister and ends up falling for
his real target.
MORE DRUG CHARGES FOR ROBERT DOWNEY JR.
Actor Robert Downey Jr., who was just released from prison three
months ago, faces more legal troubles for alleged drug abuse.
The 35-year-old actor, who has a recurring role on the popular
television show, "Ally McBeal," was bailed out early Sunday after
police in Palm Springs arrested him late Saturday night and
charged him with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Officers responded to an anonymous 911 call at around 9 p.m. PST,
indicating there were drugs and guns in a hotel room at the Merv
Griffin Resort, the Palm Springs Police Department said in a
statement. When they arrived, they found Downey alone in the room
with the cocaine and methamphetamine. He was arrested without
incident, the police said. A spokeswoman for the department said
he was bailed out for $15,000 on Sunday morning at about 6:30
a.m. PST.
LEOWS FIGHTING BANKRUPTCY
Leading exhibitor Loews Cineplex won an apparent stay of
execution from its bankers Tuesday with the extension of a Friday
deadline to meet conditions on a $1 billion bank loan to Dec. 8.
The threat of bankruptcy still looms for the 3,000-screen chain,
and Loews and its bankers are continuing negotiations to "address
the company's long-term liquidity needs." Loews was blunt in
admitting that if negotiations with bankers are unsuccessful in
securing continued credit, it may seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy
protection.
PHOENIX PICTURES BUYS RIGHT TO 'VACATION'
Phoenix Pictures has ponied up what could amount, with contingent
bonuses, to a seven-figure deal for the feature film rights to
author John Katzenbach's forthcoming dark thriller novel, "Dr.
Starks' Last Vacation." The Manhattan-set thriller revolves
around a psychologist named Dr. Starks, who receives a letter on
the day before his August vacation from an unidentified person
from his past who seeks revenge. It gives Starks 15 days to
figure out who sent the letter. If he can't determine the sender,
the letter says the doctor must kill himself or one of his
relatives' lives will be destroyed.
