Hi Movie Fans!

<Begin Babbling>
What a week! I reformatted my hard drive for the first time in
about 3 years. That alone was an adventure in itself as I have
never done this before. The pressure of knowing you are about to
wipe out every file on your computer that wasn't there when you
bought it is extremely FrIgHtEnInG! I did a really good job of
backing up what I wanted to keep, so that's good, but when I went
to re-install my software I found out that something was wrong
with my CD-ROM. I bought a cleaning disk that worked fine and
allowed me to install my zip drive, but today when I tried to
install Paint Shop Pro, it was the same problem all over again
:-(. My brother-in-law helped me take the case off of my tower
and we blew it out real good with some compressed air. It seems
to be working fine now, but we will see...Keep your fingers
crossed for me! :-)
</End Babbling>

- Bob

It's Showtime!

BATMAN WILL NOT GO TO BRAD
The director of the next Batman flick is clearing up rumors that
Brad Pitt is next in line to play the Caped Crusader. Speculation
caught fire when Pitt was spotted with indie director Darren
Aronofsky, who will helm Batman: Year One, the fifth installment
of the franchise. "The media put two and two together and got
seven," Aronofsky told reporters. "It's true, I did meet with
Brad, but we were actually talking about the science fiction
[film] that I'm writing. He had seen Requiem for a Dream
(Aronofsky's latest film opening October 6th) and really dug it
and wanted to meet me. The word Batman didn't even come up." So,
who tops Aronofsky's wish list to succeed Michael Keaton, Val
Kilmer and George Clooney in the title role? "We haven't started
to consider it," he admits. "I haven't really started working on
it. I don't even know how old Batman is [going to be]."

DICAPRIO'S NEW ROLE
Leonardo DiCaprio has signed a deal to star in Johnny Eck, a true
story about twin brothers Robert and Johnny Eckhardt - the latter
of whom was born without the lower half of his body. Johnny may
be best remembered as the half-boy hero in Tod Browning's 1932
cult classic Freaks.

ROMANCE FOR PALTROW
Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, whose current film, Duets, has
failed to click with critics and moviegoers alike, is in talks to
star in the romantic comedy View From the Top. Paltrow would play
a small-town woman who dreams of someday becoming a flight
attendant. The film - to be helmed by Oscar-nominated Brazilian
director Bruno Barreto - is slated to begin filming in December.

BILLY BOB SICK
Billy Bob Thornton was hospitalized over the weekend in Los
Angeles for a viral infection.

PEARL HARBOR DONE
The "Pearl Harbor" production has wrapped after 90 days of
shooting and a $135 million expenditure - "It's coming in right
on schedule and on budget" says Jerry Bruckheimer.

QUEEN CASTING
Vincent Perez has arrived in Melbourne to take on the role of
'Marius' in the upcoming "Queen of the Damned" project, a role
which Australian actor Hugo Weaving "The Matrix" was originally
offered but passed on.

SURVIVOR ACTING
The bikini-clad Colleen from Survivor is apparently in talks to
star in Rob Schneider's new movie Animal.

STARK RAVING MAD
Set to begin shooting in mid-November is "Stark Raving Mad", a
new heist comedy from Producer Lawrence Bender ("Reservoir Dogs",
"Pulp Fiction"). Jamie Kennedy ("Scream") and Seth Green (TV's
"Buffy") star as two bank robbers who use a rave party as a cover
for their bank heist.

ANDERSON HELMING SESSION 9
Indie filmmaker Brad Anderson (Next Stop Wonderland) has signed
on to direct a horror film called Session 9 for USA Films. The
film, which will star David Caruso, Josh Lucas (The Weight of
Water), Peter Mullan (The Claim) and Brendan Sexton III (Boys
Don't Cry), starts shooting this week. The film, which will tell
the contemporary terror-filled tale set in an abandoned insane
asylum, has script by Anderson with Stephen Gevedon. David
Collins, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Williams will produce.

DISNEY KILLS WILDLIFE
Walt Disney Pictures has pulled the plug on their Wildlife
project, which would have been another computer generated film
minus Pixar...like Dinosaur. Disney vice chairman Roy Disney may
have made the choice after seeing the final budget for Dinosaur,
which had been previously rumored to have hit the $200M mark.

VOICEOVER
Helmer Steve Zahn is joining the Dr. Dolittle 2 project behind
the cameras, but in a different job. The helmer will only be
providing his voice for the Eddie Murphy starring sequel. Zahn
also did voice work for Stuart Little.

MENDES JOINS EXIT
Eva Mendes (Urban Legend: Final Cut) is the latest addition to
the cast of Steven Seagal's hoped for comeback project, Exit
Wounds. The film, which is currently shooting in Toronto, also
stars DMX and Anthony Anderson.

YEOH IN INDY 4?
Hong Kong action star Michelle Yeoh recently revealed that she
has been in talks to co-star in the long-in-development Indiana
Jones 4. While discussing her upcoming martial arts epic
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Yeoh mentioned conversations
she's had with Indy series director Steven Spielberg. Nothing is
confirmed at this point.

IRON MAN ALTERED
Recent comments from a Marvel Films big shot suggest that the
coming Iron Man movie will feature a different looking golden
avenger than we've seen in the comics. Marvel Film Senior VP
revealed that Tony Stark's alter-ego may not be the red and gold
version we know and love, saying, "You always use the comic book
as the starting point. You see what works and doesn't work on
camera. We don't want him looking like a walking Academy Award."

CROW 3 TO CABLE
The lackluster response to recent screenings of The Crow:
Salvation have resulted in the film going directly to cable TV.
The screenings in Spokane, Wash., was underwhelming and Dimension
Films is now shopping the flick around to cable channels.

BALE LOOKS AT FIRE
Christian Bale (American Psycho) is in talks to jump into Rob
Bowman's futuristic fantasy film, Reign of Fire, at Spyglass
Entertainment. If he signs on, Bale will take on the role of a
young Brit whose mother was killed by dragons in a future Mad
Max-like England where the dragons have returned to take power.
Bale's character becomes the leader of a group of people intent
on wresting control back from the dragons. An American dragon
fighter comes to help and Bale's character joins him to do
battle. Production is scheduled to start in February 2001 in the
UK.

REPLI-KATE CASTING
Eugene Levy (American Pie, Waiting For Guffman) and Kurt Fuller
(Scary Movie) are joining the Repli-Kate comedy science fiction
project. The film will reunite Levy with American Pie producers
Warren Zide and Craig Perry. The film, which will feature Doritos
commercial star Ali Landry in the title role, will tell the story
of a dream girl who gets cloned. Levy is reported to be taking on
the role of Professor Jonas, the man who runs the lab where the
cloning experiment takes place. As yet, there's no word on what
role Fuller might play. The film will be directed by Frank Longo
with a script by Stuart Gibbs.

JOSIE PRODUCTION START
Universal Pictures has officially announced the start of
production on the Josie and the Pussycats movie, as of September
22. The musical comedy stars Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That),
Tara Reid (American Pie), Rosario Dawson (Down to You), Parker
Posey (Scream 3), Alan Cumming (Titus) and Gabriel Mann (Outside
Providence). Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (Can't Hardly Wait)
wrote the script and are directing the film with Marc E. Platt
and Tracey E. Edmonds producing.

UNIVERSAL GETS ITS WISH
Universal Pictures has snagged a pitch for a romantic time-travel
comedy called What You Wish For. Scribe Samantha Silva's project
tells the story of a young girl who feels out of place in the
modern world and journeys back in time with her sister to the era
of Jane Austin's novels. In addition, Silva's husband, Michael
Hoffman (One Fine Day) will direct the coming film. Marc Platt
will produce.

SURVIVOR HATCHES BOOK
New York-based Lyons Press has cut a deal with America's favorite
nudist/survivalist to write a self-help book, 101 Survival
Secrets: How to Make a Million Dollars, Lose 100 lbs. and Live
Happily Ever After. Hatch reportedly had been negotiating with
larger publisher St. Martin's Press to write a tell-all book for
$500,000, but talks broke down when he declined to guarantee a
certain percentage of the book would be about Survivor. His
Survival Secrets hits stores Nov. 14.

PIN-UP IN COURT
Playboy centerfold Anna Nicole Smith is a step closer to finding
out whether or not she'll get half of the multimillion dollar
estate left behind by late hubby J. Howard Marshall. Jury
selection was held on Friday in Texas probate court, which will
determine who's entitled to the estimated $40 million to $1.6
billion fortune amassed by the Texas oil baron. Smith alleges her
husband, who was 60 years her senior, had promised her half of
his estate. But the will states that all money is to go to the
younger of Marshall's two sons.

TROUBLE FOR NORMAL
More upheaval on the set of Fox's troubled John Goodman sitcom
Normal, Ohio. Executive producer Bob Kushell has left the show to
"develop another project" with Carsey-Werner Productions. Bonnie
and Terry Turner (3rd Rock from the Sun, That '70s Show) remain
as executive producers. This is just the latest shake-up to rock
Normal - which finds Goodman playing a gay father in
small-town Ohio. The concept was retooled over the summer and the
cast overhauled. Anthony LaPaglia was dropped as Goodman's
straight roomie and Ellen's Joely Fisher has been added as
Goodman's tough and sassy sister. But a Carsey-Werner
spokesperson insists Kushell's exit should not be interpreted as
an ominous sign. "It was not about creative differences," says
the rep. "It was a situation basically where this was a Bonnie
and Terry project and he was brought on to give his input. Bob
has a development deal with us and now he's going to develop his
own project." Meanwhile, Mad About You creator Danny Jacobson is
in talks to replace Kushell. Normal debuts on Nov. 1.

MLK TV MOVIE
Jeffrey Wright, from the Shaft remake, is currently shooting a
new project for HBO in Atlanta, Georgia. Wright will play Rev.
Martin Luther King Jr. during the time where he became the
reluctant leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott in the 1950's - an
incident which kicked off his famous struggle for civil rights.
An old Baptist Church near Turner Field baseball stadium has been
the site of filming last week.

SHEARER JOINS CREEK
Veteran actor Harry Shearer (This is Spinal Tap) will appear on
Dawson's Creek later this fall playing Principal Peskin. "We'll
meet him in one episode and it's up in the air from there,"
executive producer Paul Stupin says. "It's certainly not
impossible that we will be seeing him in the future." Shearer's
TV work includes voicing numerous characters on The Simpsons and
making appearances on ER, Friends and most recently, Just Shoot
Me.

TODAY GETS RATINGS GOLD
NBC's Olympic coverage may be lagging in the ratings, but it
certainly has boosted the already-flourishing Today show. During
Matt Lauer and Katie Couric's first week broadcasting live from
Sydney, Today averaged 6.7 million viewers, making that the
fourth most-watched week in the show's 49-year history. Breaking
it down further, more people watched Today last week than watched
ABC's Good Morning America and CBS's The Early Show combined.

KATHIE LEE SITCOM
Just days after agreeing to star in the movie Spinning Out of
Control for E! Entertainment Television, Kathie Lee Gifford was
spotted on Monday lunching with Mad About You creator Danny
Jacobson. The two were reportedly discussing Gifford's return to
TV in a sitcom. "They'll be lots of full-frontal nudity," joked
Jacobson.

JACK CANCELED
According to Bruce Campbell, the Jack of All Trades TV series has
been canceled.

SABRINA CURSES ABC: Sabrina, the Teenage Witch put a curse on her
former network Friday night. In its new home on The WB, the
sitcom - which was dropped last season by ABC - beat repeats of
ABC's Norm and Two Guys and a
Girl, netting The WB its highest rating in the 8 pm timeslot.
However, The WB's new 90210 spoof Gross Pointe, which follows
Sabrina at 8:30, debuted with modest results. It finished fifth
in its timeslot and lost 21 percent of Sabrina's lead-in. The
return of Popular at 9 pm, meanwhile, performed on par with what
the show had been averaging in its former home on Thursday
nights.

MONICA'S TV TIME
Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky has figured out a way
to add yet another five minutes to her 15 minutes of fame,
signing a deal to host six 10-minute episodes of a TV show for
Britain's Channel 5 network. Monica's Postcards will follow
President Clinton's beret-bearing former flame on various
assignments - interviewing Bridget Jones' Diary author Helen
Fielding, discussing her body image during a trip to a West Coast
health spa, and visiting the set of Days of Our Lives.

5. MOVIE REVIEW(s) - DVD
================================================

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY - Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Dennis
Quaid
Everyone knows that if it's a sports movie, I'm going to like it.
This one is no exception. Pacino plays an old-time professional
football coach who has to get used to things the modern way when
his old-time quarterback (Quaid) gets hurt and considers
retiring. Foxx plays the third-string QB who comes in and shakes
things up. Diaz plays the owner of the team who demands the
Pacino wake up and learn the 'new' football style. This film has
a major documentary feel thanks to excellent directing by Oliver
Stone, but times it wears a little thin. The acting is what
stands out the most though. From Foxx to Quaid and, of course,
Pacino, everyone does an amazing job of standing toe-to-toe with
each other and demanding the best performance. The movie is
excellent, yet slow at times with the minute count at over 2 and
half hours. The DVD features a documentary, a music video,
menus, bios, trailers, and DVDROM.

BOILER ROOM - Giovanni Ribisi, Vin Diesel, Ben Affleck
I admit that I only bought this disc because I've been a huge fan
of Ribisi's since he was in My Two Dads. Ribisi is a young
twenty-something guy with nothing going for him other than an
illegal casino that he operates in his apartment. One night he
gets offered a job with a new brokerage firm that promises he'll
be a millionaire inside three years. Ribisi takes the job, gets
darn good at it and the discovers the company secret that could
jeopardize his new life. This film wasn't in theaters long, so
I'm convinced that a lot of people missed a really good movie.
Ribisi, who also starred in Saving Private Ryan, does another
outstanding job with an obviously tough role. The whole movie
from plot to acting is very well done. The scary thing is that
something like this storyline could actually happen in real life.
The DVD features deleted scenes, an alternate ending, commentary,
isolated score, a trailer, bios, and DVDROM.

6. CELEBRITY PROFILE
==========
JODIE FOSTER
================================================

Birth Name: Alicia Christian Foster
Born: November 19 1962, Los Angeles, California, USA

Jodie Foster started her career at the age of two. For four years
she made commercials and finally gave her debut as an actress in
the TV series "Mayberry R.F.D." (1968). Jodie was mauled by a
lion during the filming of Napoleon and Samantha, one of her
first films. In 1975 Jodie was offered to play the prostitute
Iris in the movie Taxi Driver and received an Oscar nod for Best
Supporting Actress. In 1980 she graduated as the best of her
class from the College Lycée Français and began to study English
Literature at Yale University, from where she graduated magna cum
laude in 1985. One tragic moment in her life was March 30th, 1981
when John Warnock Hinkley Jr. attempted to assassinate the
President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. Hinkley was
obsessed with Jodie and the movie Taxi Driver in which Travis
Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, tried to shoot presidential
candidate Palantine. Despite the fact that she never took acting
lessons, she was the first actress to receive two Oscars before
the age of thirty. She received her first award for her part as
Sarah Tobias in Accused, The (1988) and the second one for her
performance as Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs, The
(1991). I saw her do Larry King Live this last year where she
mentioned that she was reading by age three and can speak 6
languages fluently, including Mandarian Chinese.
