Hi Movie Fans!

I hope all of you had a great weekend! There was alot of news since
Wednesday's edition, so I elected to put some of it on the website
to try and keep down the size of today's newsletter. I think we
would all agree that Sunday's edition can be quite large already.
There was no special tactic I just split it down the middle. You
will find a link at the bottom of news.

3. IN THE NEWS
=======================================================

HEWITT AND BREAKERS
In a recent interview, Jennifer Love Hewitt talked a bit about her
next movie - "I am very excited about this movie...because I am
playing a different character, that I don't think many people would
expect me to play. It's starring myself, Ray Liotta, Sigourney
Weaver, and Gene Hackman. "The Breakers" will be out early 2001. I
don't believe a date has been confirmed, but keep looking for that
within the next few months! At the moment? Well, I am taking some
time off, sort of...I had plans for another project shortly after
wrapping up "The Breakers", but plans aren't going as I
anticipated. I will be starting a few projects very very soon...so,
keep an eye out for those".

PAVAROTTI WANTS MADONNA
Luciano Pavarotti, one of the world's most famous opera stars, has
collaborated with a number of pop musicians, including U2's Bono,
Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin and the Eurythmics' Annie Lennox. But
Madonna has been playing hard to get. "I have wanted to sing with
Madonna for a very long time," said Pavarotti in a recent
interview. "She has promised that she would sing, but I do not know
if she was joking or serious. But I think she was serious because
she is a serious lady. She is also a superb singer." Pavarotti, 64,
is scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

DERN BLASTS EX
Laura Dern is speaking out about her split from Billy Bob Thornton.
In the new issue of Talk, the actress reveals that Thornton dumped
her for new bride Angelina Jolie. "I left our home to work on a
movie, and while I was away my boyfriend got married, and I've
never heard from him again," she says, adding that, "it's like a
sudden death. For no one has there been any closure or clarity."

JANE SAYS IT'S SORRY
Jane magazine's October issue features an apology to Liz Hurley
over an article that quoted her saying Hugh Grant was "less than
adequate" in bed. After reviewing the reporter's tapes, Jane
editors - who originally stood by the story - found that they
contained no derogatory comments about Grant. "Jane magazine
apologizes to Ms. Hurley for any distress our article may have
caused," the statement reads.

FORD DONATES MONEY
Harrison Ford has matched Kevin Spacey's $100,000 donation to help
support striking union actors.

MORE STRIKE NEWS
Tim Robbins was on The Conan O'Brian show this week explaining the
strike. Robbins also said that he and long-time love Susan Saradon
are in full support of the actions taken thus far. Robbins joked
that he's never seen a more attractive picket line. More actors
are expected to donate money to SAG in support of the strike.

RECENT EMMY WINNER DIES
Veteran actress Beah Richards, who just won an Emmy for her guest
stint on The Practice, died Thursday of emphysema at the age of 74.
Richards was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Guess Who's
Coming To Dinner.

LITTLE PACINOS
Oscar winner Al Pacino and longtime girlfriend Beverly D'Angelo are
expecting twins by year's end.

SPIDER-MAN DELAYED
The upcoming Spider-Man flick, starring Tobey Maguire in the title
role, has been delayed to accommodate an ambitious post-production
schedule. Columbia Pictures, which had planned to release the film
in November 2001, has pushed back the opening to May 3, 2002.
"We're doing things in [special] effects that have never been done
before," producer Laura Ziskin said in a statement. Meanwhile, John
Malkovich reportedly is in talks to play Spider-Man's rival, Green
Goblin.

POWERS PLAY
There may be a conflict between former Saturday Night Live
castmates Dana Carvey and Mike Myers. Sources say that Carvey, not
Myers, was the brainchild behind the Austin Powers character, Dr.
Evil. The funnyman reportedly based the fictional villain on his
onetime SNL boss Lorne Michaels. Myers denies the allegation.

RECOVERY BOUND
Liam Neeson is lucky to be alive - and he knows it. The
Oscar-nominated actor, who broke his pelvis in a July motorcycle
crash, told Access Hollywood that he "could have been dead. I could
have been [confined] to a wheelchair, but I'm not. I'm gonna make a
full recovery." The Star Wars thesp then added, "The force is with
me." Neeson is still undergoing physical therapy, but plans to be
back in fighting form in January, when he starts work on Martin
Scorsese's The Gangs of New York. "I play Leonardo DiCaprio's dad,"
he said. "I'm just playing a cameo."

A BIG CHIPMUNK SUIT
The family that owns the rights to Alvin and the Chipmunks has
filed a $105 million lawsuit against Universal Studios, claiming
the company failed to adequately license products based on the
popular cartoon characters. The suit asserts that Universal vowed
to promote the Chipmunks within all divisions, which include a
movie studio, theme parks, home video and various other product
groups, but failed to do so.

BERRY ON A ROLL
Halle Berry, who picked up an Emmy Award Sunday night for her star
turn in HBO's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, is in talks to appear
opposite John Travolta in the Warner Bros. thriller, Swordfish.
Berry would receive $2.5 million for her work - her biggest
paycheck to date. Swordfish would reunite the actress with her
X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman, who also stars in the film.

EMINEM MOVIE
A screenwriter as finally been chosen to pen the Eminem biopic.
Writer Scott Silver ("The Mod Squad", "The House of Yes") has been
hired to do the film version of the life of Detroit rapper Marshal
Mathers III, better known as the controversial Eminem who won two
MTV awards not too long ago for his "The Real Slim Shady" music
video. A few months ago Imagine Entertainment purchased the film
rights to Eminem's life.

SUM DIRECTOR
Director Phil Alden Robinson ("Sneakers", "Field of Dreams") is
rumored to be in talks with Paramount to helm the fourth Jack Ryan
adventure "The Sum of All Fears" with Ben Affleck in the lead.
Robinson has been missing from Hollywood for a while, though
returned to be briefly involved with the upcoming Kevin Costner
flick "Thirteen Days" (he dropped out quickly).

TV ARTIFACTS AUCTION
The eyepiece worn by Col. Klink on "Hogan's Heroes" and the
suspenders used to hold up Chester's pants on "Gunsmoke" are among
the pop culture artifacts going on the auction block next week. The
items are left over from a long-defunct traveling museum run by the
late Helen and William Rowell. The couple crisscrossed the country
during the 1960s, showing off the items at fairs and festivals.
They persuaded Hollywood stars to donate items of interest by
promising to use them in support of charities. After Helen Rowell
died two years ago, heirs inherited 10 trunks of celebrity
artifacts. "We talked about opening a display of our own,"
daughter-in-law Rebecca Rowell said. "But we all have other jobs."
The House in the Woods Auction Gallery in Eagle will conduct the
auction.

RUDY'S SHOES FOR SALE
The black and gray Reeboks worn by Survivor's Rudy Boesch on the
island are being auctioned off on eBay, with the current bid
standing at $10,300.01. "They're both boldly autographed in great
condition, just a little discoloration on the soles from all that
hot sand," a message on the web site reads. Proceeds from the sale
of the sneaks go to the KDWB Variety Family Center, a resource
center for families of terminally ill and chronically ill children.

THOR, MUTANT X HEAD TO TV
Artisan Entertainment is developing live-action television shows
based on Marvel Comics' Thor and Mutant X. Tyler Mane (X-Men) and
Dolph Lundgren reportedly are interested in playing Thor, the god
of thunder. "We are not at the casting stage," Marvel's Avi Arad
said. "I'm not being cagey. It's just too early. All tall,
good-looking actors should be interested in this one."

MILLER DECODED
Monday Night Football viewers confounded by announcer Dennis
Miller's witty banter can now check out Encyclopedia Britannica's
web site for a complete deciphering. At last, an explanation for
what was going on inside Miller's mind when he described a
Jets-Patriot game by saying, "I haven't seen murkier bloodlines
than this since the house of Plantagenet."

LEE TV
Spike Lee will direct a TV movie for cable's BET about the life of
Black Panther Party co-founder Huey P. Newton. Roger Guenveur
Smith, who created a one-man show about Newton, will play the title
role.

SEX AND THE CITY STAR GETS OWN SHOW
Chris Noth, Sex and the City's Mr. Big, has signed a deal with HBO
to star in his own series. Additionally, the former Law & Order
actor will produce and star in the upcoming NBC miniseries The
Judge, based on Steve Martini's bestseller.

LARROQUETTE WINGS IT
Four-time Emmy-winning Night Court actor John Larroquette will
guest star on NBC's red-hot political drama The West Wing later
this fall. The actor will appear as a brilliant, outspoken and
liberal White House counsel who chastises the President (Martin
Sheen) for hiring an assistant counsel with opposing political
views.

REGIS WELCOMES SURVIVORS
Survivor castaways Jenna, Gervase, Colleen, Sue and Rich are about
to face their biggest challenge yet - sitting in the co-host seat
opposite Regis Philbin on LIVE with Regis. Sounds like fun, but the
show we'd really like to see is LIVE with Regis and Rudy. The
Survivor stars join Regis all next week on the popular morning
show, beginning on Monday, Sept. 18.

HBO'S REAL SEX PIC
HBO is planning a telepic on the Clinton-Lewinsky sex scandal based
on the Jeffrey Toobin book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the
Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President. No word yet on
who'll play Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp. Maybe John Goodman -
who's played Tripp on Saturday Night Live - will consider taking
the job.

HECHE TO SHOWTIME
Anne Heche is in early talks with Showtime to star in an untitled
movie about gossip columnist Dorothy Kilgallen. The pic would be
based on Lee Israel's book, Kilgallen, about the life and
mysterious death of the journalist who investigated John F.
Kennedy's assassination and Marilyn Monroe's suicide.

AZARIA PLANS SITCOM
Former Mad About You funnyman Hank Azaria is said to be teaming
with one of that show's writers, Seth Kurland, on a new sitcom for
Columbia TriStar TV and Touchstone TV. Let's hope this one makes
it - Azaria last March signed on to do a family-oriented comedy for
ABC but pulled out after just a few weeks.

FELICITY BANKS ON TYRA
Supermodel-turned-actress Tyra Banks (Coyote Ugly) is joining the
cast of the WB's Felicity this season as a "serious" college
student and potential love interest for Noel (Scott Foley). "She's
someone who doesn't have to work very hard to do well in school,"
executive producer J.J. Abrams says. "Noel ends up meeting her
through his new job." Abrams, who says that Banks is a fan of the
show, adds that the story is "really going to be funny and there's
a great twist at the end." And for those skeptics who will view the
casting coup as nothing more than a chance to pump up the drama's
anemic ratings, Abrams admits that there's some truth to that. "It
definitely crossed our minds that it would be nice to get someone
who is famous to be in the show," he concedes. "Her notoriety is
certainly not a negative as far as I'm concerned. But it's one of
those things where this [story] idea happened first and then her
name came up and it was a perfect thing. It isn't just stunt
casting - it actually is a great story."

NBC HEADS TO SPACE
No doubt attempting to make up for coming late to the reality game,
NBC has purchased the rights to Survivor creator Mark Burnett's
latest project: Destination Mir. The Peacock network will fork over
nearly $40 million for the show, which follows a group of wannabe
astronauts through from training program to launch pad. The big
winner will be launched into space to meet up with the Russian
space station, Mir. NBC is hoping to debut the series in Fall 2001.

EMMYS A RATING HIT
Gary Shandling can breathe a sigh of relief. Sunday night's Emmy
telecast, in which the comic served as host, attracted 21.6 million
viewers making it the most watched Emmys in 14 years. Shandling
received enthusiastic reviews for his performance during the three
hour broadcast, which saw NBC's The West Wing and Will & Grace win
big. ABC estimates that 46 million people watched at least some
portion of the show.

NEW SITCOM CURSED
The executive producers behind NBC's new Steven Weber sitcom,
Cursed, have abruptly quit the series. Mitchel Katlin and Nat
Bernstein have resigned reportedly due to creative differences with
the network. Cursed, which stars Weber as a single ad exec, snagged
the plum post-Friends timeslot on Thursday nights. There's no word
on who will replace the duo.
